Appointment access remains the most significant challenge reported across feedback, with patients consistently describing difficulties securing consultations through multiple channels including phone, online booking systems, and in-person requests. Long waiting times on phone lines, often exceeding an hour, combined with limited same-day availability and complex advance booking procedures, create substantial barriers to care. Reception experience varies considerably, with some staff members praised for exceptional courtesy and responsiveness, while others are frequently cited as displaying dismissive or unhelpful attitudes. Communication gaps emerge as a recurring concern, including missed callbacks, unclear procedures, and insufficient information about treatments or processes.
Clinical care experiences are mixed, with select doctors and nurses receiving recognition for compassionate and professional service, while others face criticism regarding attentiveness and clinical competence. Positive feedback highlights smooth online booking systems when functional, timely referrals, and supportive reception interactions. However, the overall pattern suggests systemic operational challenges that undermine patient confidence, particularly around appointment availability and the consistency of care experience across different staff members and service touchpoints.

Bad!
Terrible service and broken promises from staff
I'm extremely frustrated by the receptionist's repeated empty promise to call me back, which never materializes. The situation has left me deeply disappointed, as the service used to be so reliable in the past. Additionally, I'm perplexed why the receptionist seems uninformed about the specific nurse checks I was advised to schedule by my doctor.

Terrible service and lack of patient care
I've been a patient at Gables Surgery since birth, and it's deeply disappointing how dramatically the practice has deteriorated since Dr Ghosh's retirement. The current doctors seem indifferent and rely solely on digital platforms, while the nursing staff appears completely ineffective. I attempted to schedule an appointment for my child through the app, clearly indicating it was for my child who cannot have their own account. However, the reception and nursing staff showed zero interest and on the appointment day, they suddenly declared the appointment was with the nurse, not a doctor. The nurse remained utterly confused, repeatedly insisting the appointment was for me, not my child. During another visit, while physically present at reception to book an appointment for my child and myself, the staff bizarrely directed me to use the app or phone. It's ridiculous - I'm standing right in front of them, yet they're pushing me towards digital channels. This technological obsession is completely absurd. The surgery has completely lost my respect. What was once an exceptional medical practice, run by professionals who genuinely cared, has devolved into a place staffed by pseudo-doctors more concerned with their personal convenience and digital workflows than patient welfare. I'm definitively changing surgeries. My advice: avoid this place entirely. When you genuinely need medical assistance, you'll find nothing but frustration and indifference here.

Terrible healthcare that breaks trust and hope
Incompetent general practitioners and medical staff who show zero compassion for pediatric care, leaving no hope for adult treatment. You're nothing but soulless money-seekers, only interested in the government payments you receive for each patient registration. Your callous approach has consequences - you'll lose four patients this week as we're switching healthcare providers. May your future be as miserable as your current medical practice.

Terrible doctor who failed to provide basic care
I am utterly appalled by the treatment I received from Dr Sneha Amin. It took me a week to secure an appointment, and when the day arrived, I was left waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled time. She displayed zero interest in the reason for my visit, seemed eager to end the call quickly, and showed complete disregard for my medical history despite having a computer right in front of her. She hastily jumped to conclusions without properly reviewing my information. She claimed she would send a prescription to my pharmacist, which turned out to be false - when I went to collect the medication, they couldn't locate any prescription. I had to contact 111, who confirmed the conversation was recorded but no prescription was actually issued. Dr Sneha promised to arrange a follow-up call for my baby's 6-8 week check, but I've heard nothing from the practice. I shared details about my 7-week-old's condition, and she was entirely indifferent, simply suggesting I relay the information to another doctor. I'm left wondering: isn't she a doctor herself? Fortunately, 111 was far more helpful and compassionate, providing the necessary prescription. GP practices wouldn't be overwhelming if they actually delivered on their promises. They're seemingly open but ineffective, unwilling to see babies or children, and hiding behind Covid as an excuse. I'm frustrated because this isn't an isolated incident of being denied proper care. I consistently end up seeking hospital treatment. In 2020, despite 111 communicating with my GP about my son's urgent condition and him showing no Covid symptoms, they refused an in-person or video consultation. My 4-year-old ultimately required hospital admission, receiving IV antibiotics and spending three nights there. I absolutely cannot recommend this GP! To anyone reading, don't make my mistake of choosing a doctor based on proximity. If you want genuine care, respect, and the dignity you deserve, look elsewhere!!! I'm definitely changing my healthcare provider!

Frustrating service and disappointing patient care
I've been a patient at this medical practice for a while, and when my family and I initially signed up, the service was excellent. Now, however, getting an appointment is incredibly difficult. I completed an online consultation with a scheduled callback from the doctor, but did the phone call happen? Absolutely not! I'm now forced to wait an entire week for the callback they originally failed to make. It's completely unacceptable. I'm definitely switching to a different general practitioner.

Terrible service and unreliable medical care nightmare
Steer clear of this medical practice - securing an appointment is purely a matter of chance! If you're not available at the crack of dawn, forget it. I spent nearly an hour on hold trying to get prescriptions, only to have them disconnect the call. When I arrived in person, the receptionists were idle but made no effort to pick up the phone. Their doctors are equally incompetent, failing to diagnose issues before the pandemic and now completely inaccessible during the crisis.

Terrible service and overpriced medical nightmare
This medical practice is an absolute nightmare for service and pricing. Getting a simple form signed took an excruciatingly long 6 weeks, and they charged me over 70 pounds just for a signature and stamp. The management's attitude is appallingly dismissive, treating critical matters as insignificant unless they directly impact their personal lives. Last year's manager, whose name was Nor or Nur, was hands-down the most incompetent professional I've ever encountered. He acted incredibly self-important, making it seem like signing my documents was a massive personal burden when it genuinely wasn't. I suffered through 6 weeks of bureaucratic nonsense and had to endure his hostile, threatening communication. Their TFL medical form fees are outrageously high at around 120 pounds, compared to other GP practices that offer the same service with an eye test for just 60 pounds. I'm absolutely switching my GP and strongly recommend everyone avoid this terrible surgery.

Terrible online booking system ruins medical experience
Scheduling appointments through their digital platform is impossible, and the app is completely useless. This medical practice has gone downhill since merging with others, losing the quality it once had.

Terrible service with zero compassion for patients
Okobi displays an appalling demeanor, especially during children's vaccinations, coming across as extremely discourteous, abrupt, and lacking any empathy towards young children! The reception staff appear cognizant of her problematic conduct but remain suspiciously silent, and additionally, the receptionist has repeatedly made errors with scheduling appointments!

Terrible service and care at this medical practice
The medical practice has significantly declined in quality and no longer provides the care it once did. The senior physician is discourteous and lacks professional conduct. If you encounter a critical health issue, I strongly recommend consulting alternative practitioners or utilizing a walk-in clinic. Their healthcare delivery is woefully inadequate and fails to meet even the most basic standards of medical service.

Terrible booking experience with unhelpful staff
Attempted to schedule an appointment at 8:15am, only to be told they're completely unavailable today. Advised to call back tomorrow for booking. Note: Phone lines open at 8:00am. Absolutely terrible customer service.

Trusted healthcare through decades at the gables
I'm not typically inclined to share my experiences online, but I've consistently had a positive relationship with "The Gables" Surgery, my general practice since around 1984. Whenever I've required medical attention, I've always been met with professionalism, compassion, and prompt service, including timely referrals to specialized medical facilities.

Terrible service that fails patients completely
This general practitioner's service is completely inadequate. It's impossible for anyone with a job to manage their healthcare here, since they refuse to schedule appointments beforehand. Instead, patients must waste a workday, phone in at 8am, and pray for a same-day slot. Moreover, their follow-up care is nonexistent. My mother, who has diabetes and a history of cancer, has been left without any communication from this practice for more than twelve months.

Smooth and efficient healthcare experience for my son
After an extended period, I took my son to see the family doctor, and the experience was refreshingly smooth. Booking the appointment through the patient App was incredibly straightforward. Impressively, my son was seen precisely at the scheduled time. The reception staff were exceptionally supportive in helping me establish my Patient Access App account. Overall, I'm thoroughly satisfied with the entire service.

Terrible nurse okobi ruined my healthcare experience
I had a terrible encounter with nurse Okobi during my appointment, which marks the third unsatisfactory interaction with her. She consistently appears disinterested and unwilling to provide care. When I persisted with my concerns, she actually caused me physical discomfort. Urgent action is required to address this issue. Patients schedule appointments out of genuine medical necessity, not to intentionally inconvenience the nurse, who seems perpetually irritated by something. Additionally, booking an appointment at this medical practice is incredibly frustrating, as available time slots appear to be perpetually non-existent.
