Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, securing an appointment has been impossible! Every call results in the same frustrating response that no slots are available, and I'm consistently told to try again another day. Essentially, our general practitioner exists in name only, having maintained pandemic-era restrictions long after they became unnecessary. They seem to have discovered a convenient method during the peak of Covid and decided to continue it, apparently unaware that the crisis has ended and normal service should resume. Their standard approach is simply to redirect patients to call 111 or visit a walk-in center, but these alternatives just bounce patients back to the original GP, who should be responsible for providing at least a basic consultation. The quality of service is abysmal, and after three years of consistent failure to schedule an appointment, I am preparing to formally lodge a complaint. It is absolutely unacceptable that making a simple medical appointment has become such an insurmountable challenge.

Worst customer service ever from rude receptionist
The moment I entered, the discourteous receptionist, Luara or whatever her name was, immediately declared, "I can't schedule an appointment" without even a basic greeting. Her demeanor suggested I was some kind of nuisance, as if I were begging for a favor 😤. At that point, my blood pressure had spiked to 163. When calling at 9 am, they frequently hang up immediately, even when I'm first in the system. Sometimes they'll deliberately disable the phone until 9:45 am, offering vague excuses. On multiple occasions, while waiting in the queue, I'm given the option for a callback, but they never actually follow through. Upon questioning the receptionist about these missed callbacks, I was simply told the system is malfunctioning. Given my mental health challenges, seeing my doctor is critically important, yet I'm repeatedly redirected to the 111 service, which ultimately consumes more resources and expenses than a direct doctor's appointment would. This practice desperately requires restructuring to adequately serve all patients.
