Patient feedback reflects a mixed experience at this practice, with significant concerns about appointment access and communication systems alongside positive feedback about clinical care. Multiple patients reported substantial difficulties securing appointments, with extended waiting times for both initial consultations and urgent care needs. The booking process has been described as inefficient, with issues including external call handling services, automated telephone systems that fail to process callbacks, and online forms that go unacknowledged. Communication breakdowns have been noted across several interactions, including missed referral coordination and delayed responses to patient inquiries.
In contrast, many patients praised the clinical care they received, highlighting healthcare professionals who demonstrated attentive listening, professional knowledge, and genuine compassion. The practice environment itself was commended for its welcoming atmosphere and accessible facilities. However, reception experience has been inconsistent, with some patients reporting dismissive attitudes and poor responsiveness, whilst others found reception staff friendly and helpful. This inconsistency suggests variable standards across the team.
Concerns about clinical availability have also emerged, with patients noting reduced doctor staffing and difficulty accessing vital signs checks or timely medication reviews. Several patients expressed worry that appointment delays and inadequate triage processes may have compromised their care outcomes. The practice appears to face capacity challenges that are affecting its ability to meet patient needs effectively, particularly for those requiring urgent or follow-up care.

Reception staff could be more consistent with knowledge
I would greatly appreciate it if the exceptionally supportive and approachable member of the reception team could share their extensive knowledge and excellent patient rapport with their colleagues. This individual is clearly a valued asset to the practice and their approach makes a real difference. Regrettably, my interactions have been noticeably different when other reception staff have been on duty. It would be beneficial if management could provide additional support and training to help all reception team members develop their skills further, so that patients receive consistent service and have their questions answered with confidence regardless of who is at the desk.

Redirected to distant practice without choice
Why are patients being directed elsewhere when this location is the closest option for many of us? The practice appears to be reducing services and accessibility here. Are there plans to relocate or restructure? Obtaining appointments at the preferred location has become increasingly challenging. Would it not be possible to request appointments at the more convenient branch rather than being directed to alternative sites?
Glenlyn Medical Centre
one year agoDear Caroline Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have reviewed the matter and although never as straight forward as it seems, I do in part agree with you. As a whole practice we offer more than 100,000 appointments a year over our 2 sites, with most of those being at Glenlyn. You needed to be seen, and you were offered an appointment at Emberbrook in Thames Ditton as the most expeditious. I would say, as my team will want me to, that you can be seen on a site you wish, or with a practitioner you may wish to see, but that extends the time which you will have to wait. Many NHS doctors & clinicians work part time, and we provide a broad range of services across both sites. I am more than happy to discuss this in person Joseph Todd

Impossible to book an appointment here
Getting an appointment at this practice is extremely difficult. The team members are not particularly helpful, and the booking system appears to have significant issues. Attempting to secure an appointment here is a frustrating experience. The overall service does not seem to meet the needs of patients effectively.

one year agoDear Joshua. This is not a true reflection of your experience with us and you've not been fair. It is more productive if you meet with staff rather than place unfair comments on social media. I did look to see whether Google allowed us to remove comments that were an axe to grind, they do not. I am more than happy to meet you in person to discuss this. Joseph Todd

Staff made genuine effort to listen and follow up
I appreciate that others may have different experiences, but I wanted to mention that I've consistently found the team here to be approachable and welcoming. I'm particularly grateful that the clinician made the effort to ring me back in the evening after I wasn't available for an earlier call. They were patient and thorough when discussing my prescriptions with me, taking the time to properly consider my concerns despite what must have been a busy end to their day.

Staff hung up during appointment call
The reception team displayed a dismissive attitude during my telephone call, and the line was disconnected while I was speaking. I was attempting to arrange an appointment following a recent procedure, as I required wound care and aftercare support. Despite my mobility limitations, I was directed to attend an external facility that would have been difficult for me to access given my current physical condition.

I see that you've been able to access our service on a number of occasions around this time, so I'd be grateful to understand the issues you've had Why not arrange to come and see me Joseph Todd

10 months agoSo, after asking Google to moderate this post, I had a look at the sender - it doesn't seem to be from our area - and I can't really find an adequate reason for this post I hope people get the flavour of my responses here - happy to admit fault, where fault does lay with us, but equally ready to fight our corner. On this occasion I can't find out anything at all about the reason for this post. Pashto text: Dear Baba, you are most welcome to come and see me in person on Friday. If this conflicts with the Friday prayer and worship schedule, I am happy to see you at another time. Please contact the clinic/sajri by phone or in writing to make an appointment. Remote appointment offered ten days after surgery
That's it. That was the last appointment with a remote, telephone-based consultation available within 10 days. I recently had a significant surgical procedure and felt the practice provided minimal support throughout. I was unable to obtain a basic vital signs check from clinical staff before my operation. It seems contradictory that the practice actively recruits new patients from wider areas while struggling to serve existing ones. The facility appears to have adequate reception staff but limited clinical availability. Now that I require a medication review one week post-surgery, the earliest remote appointment offered is in 10 days. While the wait may encourage me to be more mobile, I feel the service falls short of what should be expected. I believe the practice's current capacity and responsiveness are inadequate for patient care needs.

Couldn't get an appointment for nearly two weeks
Attempted to schedule a telephone consultation regarding a health concern. The earliest available slot was approximately two weeks away. Questioned whether the practice was particularly stretched, as it seemed difficult to secure even a brief appointment slot. Expressed concern about current NHS capacity pressures.

Moved practices and finally felt properly listened to
I have been attending my previous practice for 27 years and had assumed that all GP surgeries operated with comparable standards. However, since relocating and registering with a new practice, I have been struck by the significant difference in the quality of care received. This experience has made me acutely aware of how inadequate the service at my former practice was. The shortcomings I experienced there were substantial enough that I felt they posed potential risks to patient safety. In my view, the standard of care provided warranted serious concern.

Triage system failed to take chest pain seriously
I felt let down by the triage process at this practice. My mother attended several weeks ago with chest discomfort and was assessed by a clinician who did not take her concerns seriously. She was subsequently admitted to hospital where a serious condition was identified, which could have been managed more effectively if diagnosed earlier during her initial visit. I believe the assessment process failed to recognise the severity of her symptoms, and I am disappointed by what I perceive as insufficient care and attention from this practice, particularly given how significant her health situation became.

Extremely unsatisfactory experience and quite frustrating. The communication systems appear to be malfunctioning, making it difficult to access services. I believe this practice requires significant changes or should be replaced with a new facility.

Long wait for callback delayed urgent appointment
This practice falls significantly short of expectations. The appointment system appears inadequate and unsuitable for current needs. When I contacted them regarding an unwell family member requiring urgent care, I was informed a telephone consultation would need to occur first. The callback took considerably longer than seemed appropriate, and the person conducting the call appeared to lack relevant medical training. Subsequently, an appointment was scheduled several weeks away, which did not align with the urgency of the situation. My family member experienced a serious health event shortly after and required hospital admission. I have serious concerns about whether this practice is equipped to meet patient needs effectively.

Practice relies too heavily on non-doctor staff
It is disappointing that this medical practice appears to have reduced the number of doctors on staff in favour of other healthcare professionals. This decision seems to prioritise cost savings over patient care. The management and partners may wish to reconsider their staffing approach. If seeing a doctor is important to you or your family members, you may prefer to seek care at an alternative practice that better meets your preferences.
