Broken App, Rude and Lazy Staff. English

Making an appointment is a dreadful experience. The app rarely works properly. Phone waiting times are measured in hours. The IVR has FIVE prompts before you can even join the queue! I just spent 17 minutes as "Number One in the queue"! On the phone and in person the staff are rude and sluggish if they are there at all. I have had them answer a call with "Yeah?" or even just pick up the phone and say nothing at all. When you can eventually speak to someone or get the app to operate without error, the best you can hope for is a callback the following day to make an appointment. Speaking English is sometimes a problem - especially if you need to speak to the administration staff rather than reception. I was asked to come back on the day that the English-speaker was working in the office. The medical staff themselves seem competent although the bait-and-switch to see a nurse instead of a doctor is common. They stick to the 12 minutes, 1 problem rule religiously. I couldn't even add a cholesterol check to a blood test without making a separate appointment! Unfortunately "our" NHS won't let me use one of the better practices in the area. I end up paying a private GP.

The consultation process is extremely sluggish, and the overall service is quite poor. I've experienced several days of waiting without receiving any SMS or email updates. In fact, the only time I received a phone call was when I missed it due to my cellphone being out of reach. If you've submitted your request through Evergren, it's essential that if there’s no response by phone, you should have reached out to me via email or SMS instead. I’ve attempted to submit my request once more; however, as of now, I've yet to receive any communication through either medium.

My experience was utterly unacceptable. I arose early at 7:30 to arrange for a blood test and navigated the proper steps in the Evergreen application (GP → Request Assistance from GP → New Request → Nurse/Blood Test Appointment). However, I was incorrectly informed that I had submitted an “Admin Query,” which is entirely untrue. This careless blunder not only wasted my time but also postponed a crucial test for my thyroid issue, leading to unnecessary anxiety. This isn't the first instance where I've encountered confusion and mistakes from this practice. The ongoing errors, coupled with a lack of attention to detail and ineffective communication, indicate a significant disregard for patient welfare. If staff members struggle to accurately handle straightforward requests, how can patients trust that they are receiving quality care? There is an urgent need for enhancements in both the booking system and staff proficiency.

There needs to be more pressure on them to improve their services!

Deteriorating Medical Center: Five Years of Frustration

On July 17, nearly five years later, the situation has deteriorated significantly. I reached out at 8 a.m. today seeking an urgent appointment. The receptionist informed me that I needed to use the app but promised to check with the doctor regarding my eligibility for an in-person visit. Unfortunately, I never received a follow-up call. This medical center is by far the worst I've encountered. A year ago, I submitted a review highlighting their inadequacies; however, it seems that no improvements have been made since then—likely because they assume this community is too uninvolved to lodge formal complaints. I called again on Monday at 8 a.m., waiting ten minutes only to be told my position was over thirty in line. After waiting another hour and a half, I finally got through—only to discover there were no available appointments left for me. This pattern repeated itself on Tuesday as well; this morning when I tried calling again at 8 a.m., after spending an hour on hold around 9:00 a.m., my call was suddenly dropped by them—a total display of incompetence from those managing this facility. In my earlier review, I expressed serious concerns about this medical center's capabilities: "I am very worried about how effective this Medical Centre can be given its recent merger with another location—it seems things have only gotten worse… Waiting times extend over one month… After three consecutive Mondays trying to reach them at 9:30 and still finding myself above thirty in queue… It’s utterly absurd… The political corruption stemming from the Labour Party plays into these frustrations."

Modern Facade Hides Healthcare System Failure

Do not be misled by the contemporary ambiance and architecture; it’s quite disappointing. To schedule an appointment, you must rely on their app, which tends to go offline rapidly, so being swift and fortunate is essential. The staff members lack compassion and seem to think that being a patient is our full-time role. I had arranged for an appointment, took leave from work to attend, only to be informed that there was a system error and my test wasn’t actually scheduled. Furthermore, the nurse showed no remorse whatsoever. Instead of apologizing, she attempted to persuade me that this situation is “normal” and has occurred with numerous individuals before me. Should I feel reassured knowing this happens frequently? Perhaps you should take a moment to reflect on your practices. If possible, seek registration elsewhere; I'm also considering other alternatives at this point in time.

However, when I arrived for my scheduled blood test two weeks later, there was no record of it in their system, which caused considerable frustration. Nevertheless, I must commend Nahid, the phlebotomist; he promptly contacted me to reschedule for the next day and demonstrated exceptional flexibility. I truly appreciate his quick resolution of the problem as well as how efficiently he performed the blood draw with minimal discomfort on my part.

When I went in to schedule a blood test, I spoke with Aarif, who informed me that there were no available appointments until the following week. However, Aarif went above and beyond by reaching out to his colleague Nahid regarding my circumstances. Although Nahid was off-duty at the time, he quickly grasped the urgency of my situation and offered to perform the blood test immediately rather than making me wait for two weeks. Nahid conducted the blood test with remarkable skill; it was virtually painless thanks to his expertise. He clearly knows what he is doing—excellent work! Absolutely shocking this is by far the worst GP, my health is more important then a flashy new GP, what do these people get paid for they don’t even pick up their phones and when they do they leave you on hold and if not that they have no appointments.

Terrible, not much else to say

Honestly the worst GP practice I have experienced. I recently switched from a different GP to Goodmans field health care as this is much closer to me so I assumed it would be convenient. However, when trying to book an appointment, they only allowed same day appointments where you have to call early morning and hope there’s availability. They have a new system where you can consult online which I tried where it states that online consultations are available for about 8 hours everyday however when attempting to get online consultation, they end up closing within the hour of even opening. On top of this, when calling to arrange an appointment, they would ask to provide more details and be consulted by a doctor through a messaging system, which I had to call numerous times to be given updates on. I also previously had a rash which they advised me to go to the pharmacy next door to purchase recommended medication. I then realised the medicine they advised me on getting, I got completely ripped off paying an excess of about £10-15 more when I could have just purchased this from alternative suppliers such as Superdrug’s. My honest opinion is the pharmacy is out to make profit more than helping patients. I would strongly advise researching elsewhere for any suggested medication as I can almost guarantee you will find it cheaper elsewhere. I have tried for about a week to get a consultation regarding a muscle problem however it’s very difficult to even get in touch. Do not be fooled by the modern structure and cleanliness of this place. Prioritise your health, experience other general practitioners which will give you a much better insight on the terrible service that is provided here at this quite new practice. I will now be switching back to my previous GP as health is more important than experiencing modern technology and a clean and aesthetically pleasing building.
