Receptionists genuinely helpful with your needs

I would suggest Grangewood Surgery as a good choice. The clinical staff members are consistently professional, supportive, and demonstrate genuine understanding of patients' concerns. The nursing team shows compassion in their interactions. The reception team are helpful and make efforts to assist with any queries relating to the practice and healthcare matters. The facilities and amenities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, which is clearly due to the dedicated work of the support staff who take pride in their role and are approachable and personable with patients.

Long wait times for prescription refills

Overall? Not satisfactory. A telephone call regarding a routine medication request had me positioned first in the queue, yet I experienced a wait of over 11 minutes before someone responded. In my view, this waiting period was excessively lengthy.

Quick same-day appointments when you need them

I have never had any complaints about this practice – it is excellent. They consistently manage to provide me with prompt appointments when I require same-day care, and the entire team is genuinely pleasant. I would particularly like to praise the skilled healthcare professional who has drawn my blood on a couple of occasions, performing the procedure in a highly competent and reassuring manner, which was especially appreciated given my usual anxiety around blood tests. Reception team made switching surgeries worthwhile

Registered with this practice a few months ago. I was hesitant about making the change but it was necessary for a family matter, and I'm really glad I made the decision. I've been with Grange Wood surgery for many years and have consistently found the entire team to be excellent. The clinical staff have supported me through some challenging periods, and I've always appreciated their care and attention. Appointment booking system needs urgent improvement

The surgery appears to continue struggling with its organisational processes. I called to obtain test results and was informed that a face-to-face consultation would be necessary. After being asked about my previous visit, I was offered an appointment for 3.50pm the following day. However, when I arrived at the scheduled time, there was no record of this appointment, as the clinician I was meant to see was a locum whose availability at the surgery was unknown. Fortunately, I was able to see an alternative clinician instead. The receptionist seemed unable to grasp why I felt frustrated by this mix-up. The clinician subsequently mentioned that I should not have been asked to book an appointment in the first place. The clinical care itself remains of a good standard, which accounts for the rating given.

Personally speaking, I have had no issues, reception staff are always polite and try to accommodate requests. When possible I try to see my preferred clinician, if it wasn't for them my career would have been cut short, and I also appreciate another clinician here who is very compassionate and understanding.

I have been a patient at this surgery since its earlier years and I have noticed a significant decline in service standards. Today I spent over an hour on the phone attempting to obtain a prescription. Despite being first in the queue, I waited 25 minutes before the call was disconnected. The practice appears to require additional staffing resources to manage demand and improve service quality.

Phone lines need patience and persistence

When attempting to reach the practice by phone, I've found that repeatedly calling and hanging up after hearing the engaged tone eventually results in getting through. This approach seems faster than waiting on the line, and I've noticed it works at this surgery as well as others. Having dealt with managing a long-term health condition throughout my life, I've had considerable experience with various healthcare communication methods.

Reception team went above and beyond during crisis

I'm amazed by some of the negative feedback about this practice. It seems to come from individuals who struggle with waiting times and expect everything to revolve around them. The clinical and administrative teams deliver exceptional care and run the practice extremely well. They all demonstrate real competence in their roles! I've been a patient here for many years and have consistently received attentive care. When a family member required emergency hospital admission, the entire team showed genuine commitment to duty of care, staying late and providing extra support until the emergency services took over. I also received follow-up contact from clinical staff after my family member was discharged. These gestures are what truly matter!
