Patient feedback reflects a mixed experience with significant variation across service areas. The practice receives consistent praise for clinical care quality, with medical staff and doctors described as compassionate and professional. Reception teams are frequently noted as warm, welcoming, and supportive, while pharmacy services are highlighted as efficient and friendly. The practice environment is described as clean, well-organised, and inviting.
However, substantial concerns emerge around access and appointment availability. Patients report persistent difficulties reaching the practice by phone, with multiple failed connection attempts and long waiting times on hold. Appointment scheduling presents a major challenge, with some patients unable to secure timely slots despite repeated efforts. When appointments are obtained, waiting times for consultations can extend significantly beyond scheduled times.
Additional access barriers include frustration with online booking systems and unclear communication about appointment availability. Reception courtesy varies, with some patients reporting dismissive or discourteous interactions during booking attempts. Delayed responses to prescription requests and communication issues have also been noted. While many patients express satisfaction with their care experience, the recurring patterns of appointment access difficulties and phone contact challenges represent the most significant service gaps affecting patient experience.

Overwhelmed and frustrated by healthcare system nightmare
Whatever you do, AVOID getting sick - surgery is now a complete farce. You can't even schedule an appointment anymore, and calling is pointless unless you need help getting online or are elderly. It would be fantastic if the recorded message actually explained this upfront instead of wasting an hour of your time on hold, only to be told "online only" by the receptionist. Then you're expected to register online, fill out forms, and diagnose yourself - which sounds totally reliable, right? 🙄 Then you wait for a healthcare professional to squeeze in a moment between patients to review your online request and determine the best approach. Maybe, just maybe, after an incredibly long wait, you'll get an appointment - assuming you haven't already recovered, misdiagnosed yourself, or died in the meantime!!!! This will inevitably push more people to A&E, creating additional strain on hospitals. The health service has become an absolute embarrassment. How on earth did we reach this point? 😳

Frustrating anima call system wastes customer time
Switched to automated customer service online. Completely ineffective and frustrating. Now forced to make a phone call to actually communicate with a human representative.

Compassionate care meets frustrating appointment booking system
The medical staff are top-notch and incredibly comforting. The front desk team is remarkably courteous and efficient, demonstrating significant dedication. The sole drawback is the appointment scheduling process. I spent 45 minutes making over 200 phone calls, with the frustrating experience of getting through to reception only to have the call drop after just one minute of being connected.

Compassionate doctors with a frustrating prescription policy
Dr Ramjan and Dr Winther stand out as the most exceptional general practitioners I've ever encountered. They demonstrate genuine compassion and don't simply resort to hastily prescribing medication and dismissing patients. Unfortunately, some of the other physicians at the practice fall far short of this standard. Their medication policy, however, is incredibly vexing. They insist on providing only 28-day supplies for repeat prescriptions, even for lifelong medications. Their justification about preventing medicine wastage seems nonsensical to me - how could I possibly waste medication that I'm required to take daily for the remainder of my life? My previous medical practice would routinely provide three-month supplies. I did manage to negotiate a temporary two-month supply with Great Notley Surgery, but this arrangement was short-lived, and they quickly reverted to the 28-day limit without offering any meaningful explanation or alternative.

Frustrating healthcare hurdles block patient's medical help
I attempted to book an appointment for my knee injury yesterday and was instructed to call back at 8am today. When I did, I found myself 28th in the queue, and by the time I got through, all appointment slots were taken. The receptionist claimed they had plenty of openings tomorrow but wouldn't book me one, insisting I call again at 8am. My mobility is compromised, though not critical enough for the emergency room. I contacted 111, who advised I need to be seen today for an X-ray referral and asked me to call the surgery back. Following their guidance, I spoke with a staff member who dismissed my concerns, declaring it wasn't an emergency in her view. She refused to locate the 111 message, didn't even ask my name, and was incredibly discourteous. Her harsh communication style only compounded my frustration. The quality of care at this practice has dramatically deteriorated over the past half-year.

Dysfunctional healthcare system fails patients and taxpayers
2.8 million in taxpayer money ANNUALLY - regardless of whether they actually provide service or not.... does that seem fair to you? Their compensation should be performance-based, paid only after patient consultations, which would quickly motivate them to address existing shortcomings. The phone system claims extreme congestion, yet when you arrive with a sick child an hour later, the waiting room sits completely vacant. If these medical professionals truly honored their professional commitment, they would be embarrassed. I'm currently engaged in a back-and-forth email exchange attempting to understand the situation, but it's becoming clear that this GP practice operates with the same bureaucratic indifference typical of local government offices, responding with deliberate evasiveness.

Swift and caring service at little waltham surgery
I reached out to Little Waltham Surgery first thing in the morning, seeking urgent medical attention. The receptionist was incredibly helpful and, after carefully hearing about my issue, scheduled me for a prompt consultation at 09.20am. Dr. Jane was excellent - we thoroughly discussed my health concerns, and I received both a prescription and valuable guidance. I swiftly collected my medication and was back home by 09.50am. Every staff member I interacted with demonstrated genuine kindness and compassion. My sincere appreciation to the entire team - Martina

Frustrating healthcare booking and communication nightmare
Creating an online account for booking appointments is an incredibly frustrating process. I attempted to call during a Saturday morning when their website claimed they were open, but the phone system contradicted this. At this point, I'm better off going directly to the emergency department.

Frustrating phone service fails disabled patients
Attempting to contact them via phone is an exercise in futility. I've been persistently dialing since their opening hours began, and after a quarter-hour, I'm no closer to scheduling an appointment. Multiple call attempts have been flatly rejected. The entire process is absurdly frustrating and creates significant barriers for individuals with disabilities like myself, who theoretically require these services most urgently. Moreover, the medical staff here have consistently demonstrated a dismissive and unhelpful attitude during previous interactions. If you have alternative options, I strongly recommend exploring them.
