Patient feedback reveals a markedly mixed experience at this GP practice, with significant divergence between clinical and administrative service quality. Medical professionals, including doctors and nursing staff, consistently receive praise for competence, responsiveness, and compassion, with patients reporting prompt consultations, thorough care, and genuine empathy during treatment. However, reception experience presents a stark contrast, with widespread complaints about appointment booking difficulties, phone contact challenges, and discourteous staff behaviour. Patients describe frustration with online booking systems, lengthy phone wait times, and reception staff who are described as dismissive, impatient, and lacking in courtesy.
Appointment access remains a central concern, with patients reporting challenges securing both telephone and in-person consultations, though some recent feedback indicates improvements following system changes and the opening of an access centre. The practice environment has also drawn comment, with observations about outdated facilities requiring modernisation. Communication inconsistencies are noted, including issues with follow-up responsiveness and unclear guidance on booking procedures.
Despite these operational challenges, patients with successful consultations frequently express satisfaction with care quality and medical expertise. The disparity between clinical excellence and administrative service suggests that systemic and staffing issues in reception areas significantly impact overall patient perception, even when clinical outcomes are positive.

Bad!
Declining service and compassion at local gp
I've been a long-standing patient at this medical practice, and while the quality of care was previously commendable, I've observed a noticeable deterioration in service since the pandemic began. Regrettably, the medical care has become fragmented, with patients seldom encountering the same physician or receiving adequate follow-up treatment. This lack of consistency can be deeply frustrating and disrupts the essential continuity of healthcare. Although I recognize the immense pressures facing healthcare providers, I believe there are opportunities to enhance patient interactions. It would be beneficial if staff could demonstrate greater compassion and understanding, particularly considering the inherent stress associated with medical consultations. In earlier times, a young receptionist was consistently warm and welcoming. Since her departure, the reception's atmosphere has significantly transformed. The current staff occasionally appear detached, and some interactions have felt unnecessarily confrontational and impersonal. I sincerely hope the practice will consider this feedback constructively and strive to create a more supportive and patient-centered environment that prioritizes respect and empathy.

Compassionate nurse made my blood draw stress-free
Sam was an absolute gem among nurses during my blood draw. Her demeanor was incredibly soothing, and she consistently offered comforting words that helped ease my anxiety. I'm truly grateful for her compassionate approach that transformed what could have been a stressful moment into a much more pleasant experience. :)

Mixed feelings about amazing doctors and rude receptionist
The medical professionals at this clinic are truly exceptional and consistently provide prompt, attentive care for myself and my children. However, the short-haired, older blonde receptionist is hands-down the most discourteous and disrespectful individual I've encountered! She consistently speaks condescendingly to virtually every patient and behaves as if responding to a simple inquiry is an enormous inconvenience. When there's a queue, she resorts to shouting! She demands patients move to the main room to sign in. Without an appointment, I was forced to publicly explain my reason for being there, otherwise she would continue staring me down intimidatingly. I felt completely humiliated - why the unnecessary loud volume? In a small space, a gentle, considerate tone would be more appropriate when guiding waiting patients about check-in procedures or offering assistance. I personally witnessed her aggressively addressing an elderly woman who was clearly bewildered about her scheduled appointments. The practice claims to value kindness and compassion among staff, yet somehow this woman is permitted to treat patients so poorly? While the doctors are absolutely outstanding and consistently provide excellent care for my son's asthma, I will definitely be seeking a new medical practice because this receptionist makes patients feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, regardless of their health status or reason for visiting.

Consistent quality and positive practice evolution
Throughout my two decades as a patient here, I've consistently experienced reliable service that has actually gotten better over time. The various transformations taking place are necessary, and patients like myself need to be adaptable and recognize that healthcare practices must evolve to stay current and effective.

Exceptional care from a trusted medical team
Throughout my decades as a patient, the Grove Medical Centre has consistently delivered exceptional care. Every single staff member demonstrates remarkable warmth, genuine compassion, and an outstanding commitment to patient service. They consistently exceed expectations and provide support that goes well beyond standard medical care. My family has trusted this practice since 1990, and our experience has been nothing short of exemplary. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at the Grove for their outstanding dedication. 😃

Compassionate care when i needed it most
I stopped by The Grove walk in clinic on Friday feeling extremely distressed and worried about my health condition. The entire team was incredibly soothing and compassionate towards me. In particular, Dr. Goya was wonderfully gentle and supportive, providing me with excellent guidance and reassurance. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their outstanding care and support. I'm truly fortunate to have such a wonderful medical facility available to me xx

Terrible medical experience with unprofessional staff attitude
If you're seeking an eye care specialist, I strongly advise against choosing this clinic due to the apparent chaos in communication and coordination between The Grove and CHEC. The staff's condescending behavior and blatant display of unprofessional attitudes, bordering on a power-driven approach towards patients, is utterly unacceptable. No patient should ever have to endure an environment where internal politics interfere with the standard of medical care. I recommend steering clear of this clinic until they resolve the numerous underlying problems plaguing their support staff and medical professionals.

Frustrating customer service and communication nightmare
I appreciate your commitment to making customer communication as challenging as possible, with phone lines that seem perpetually unavailable and the convenient option of charging me for the privilege of a remote consultation.

Terrible healthcare at grove medical centre
Covid 19 has exposed this surgery's appalling service. The NHS is under immense strain, and this practice is doing absolutely nothing to alleviate the pressure. Getting an appointment has become an absolute ordeal, forcing me to resort to calling the NHS helpline just to be seen at a walk-in clinic. The nurse was visibly sympathetic when I explained my situation, even remarking 'poor you' upon hearing I was registered with Grove Medical Centre in Egham. She revealed they were encountering numerous patients from this surgery who were being consistently neglected - no appointments, no call-backs, no message responses. Shockingly, she mentioned treating a patient for routine blood tests because the Grove claimed their doctors were working remotely and couldn't perform them. While I've previously experienced minor frustrations like unhelpful receptionists and difficult morning booking lines, the pandemic has transformed their service from inconvenient to completely unacceptable. I'm genuinely bewildered by their current operations and firmly believe they must start taking constructive feedback seriously to restore any semblance of adequate healthcare provision.

Expensive and inconvenient vaccination experience
I encountered a frustrating situation at the medical practice this week when seeking a travel vaccination typically covered by the NHS. Currently, they have just a single nurse capable of performing this service in their sizeable facility. Whenever this nurse is unavailable, no alternative staff member can provide the vaccination. As a result, I was directed to pursue a private option, which ultimately cost me £50 to receive the typhoid immunization.

Terrible medical service for patients with disabilities
Subject: Urgent Concern: Unacceptable Patient Treatment at Egham Grove Medical Dear Egham Grove Medical, I am compelled to express my profound dismay and frustration with the consistently subpar customer service I have encountered. As a long-standing patient of this practice, I am deeply troubled by the treatment I have received, which falls far below any reasonable standard of care. My specific challenges as a patient with a learning disability and autism spectrum condition, clearly documented in my medical profile, have been systematically ignored by the reception staff. Every attempt to schedule an appointment becomes an exhausting battle, with staff rigidly insisting on online form completion—an impossible task given my severe dyslexia. My requests for verbal assistance are met with complete indifference, leaving me feeling utterly marginalized. The reception interactions are not merely impersonal but actively hostile. The staff's complete lack of empathy and understanding transforms each interaction into a distressing experience. When I attempt to advocate for myself by providing my identifying information and referencing my documented conditions, I am consistently dismissed. I am astounded that a medical facility, fundamentally responsible for patient care, can so comprehensively fail in its most basic human interaction. The reception's systemic indifference has now completely overshadowed any potential medical benefit. This is not an isolated incident but a persistent pattern that has left me feeling devalued and alienated. In a healthcare setting, customer service is not a luxury but a fundamental necessity, and my experiences represent a complete breakdown of professional and compassionate care. With great reluctance, I am terminating my relationship with Egham Grove Medical. This decision is not made lightly but is a necessary act of self-preservation. I share my experience in the hope that it might prompt meaningful change and improve service for future patients, particularly those with additional challenges. Patients beware.

Exceptional healthcare with compassion and professional care
I've been a patient at The Grove for more than two decades. During my recent visit for a standard blood draw and blood pressure check, I was attended to by Athena, the phlebotomist. She's not only exceptionally competent but also radiates warmth and positivity. The reception staff consistently demonstrate friendliness, expertise, and genuine helpfulness. Given the current challenges facing our healthcare system, I'm truly impressed by how smoothly this medical practice operates. The entire medical team - from nurses to doctors - are thoroughly professional, attentive, and make me feel valued. Every interaction leaves me feeling respected and never like I'm an inconvenience.

Unprofessional staff failed my son and our family
The front desk staff and practice manager display poor professional etiquette, consistently impeding patients' access to medical consultations. A receptionist informed me that home visits are exclusively reserved for immobile elderly patients. When I explained the severity of my situation, she coldly suggested going to the hospital, demonstrating a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. Tragically, my 34-year-old son has passed away. He was dismissively prescribed anti-nausea medication, with staff claiming he was too young to have a serious medical condition! Our family is devastated beyond words. I strongly believe this medical practice poses a significant risk to community health and patient welfare.

Excellent medical centre with caring and responsive staff
I've been a patient at Grove Medical Centre since 1986 and have observed numerous transformations through the years. As I've aged, I've increasingly relied on their services, and I'm thoroughly pleased with my experiences. On two occasions involving potentially serious medical conditions, I was promptly referred to the hospital for necessary examinations. The entire team collaborated seamlessly to ensure I received optimal care. Below are my reflections, accompanied by some statistical insights to help understand the challenges facing our medical practices and the immense pressures on our overworked GPs and medical centers (+ the daily challenges faced by receptionists and telephonists) The era of obtaining same-day appointments by simply making a phone call has passed, except in emergency situations. Technological advancements require medical practices to adapt and embrace new operational methods. These transitions inevitably involve initial difficulties. While I initially struggled with the new online system, I now find it extremely convenient and consistently receive responses within the promised timeframes. [The statistical paragraphs remain unchanged] Our General Practitioners are expected to be comprehensive health experts, when in reality, we should be taking more responsibility for managing our personal health. Previous generations of GPs were not inherently more skilled or knowledgeable; they were simply not subjected to the same extreme pressures our current medical professionals face.

Efficient surgery center with room for improvement
In comparison to my prior surgical experience, The Grove demonstrates a commendable level of efficiency, though I would appreciate more readily available comprehensive information for patients.
