Despite dialing precisely at the designated time, I found myself languishing as the 27th caller in line. The service quality is absolutely unacceptable and clearly demonstrates a critical shortage of staff. The receptionists' dismissive and curt demeanor, combined with excessively long wait periods, render this medical practice thoroughly unappealing for patients seeking care. The sole redeeming element is Stewart, who offers a brief moment of relief amidst the otherwise dismal service experience.

Endless waiting and frustration at this clinic

Stuart, the lead practitioner, is truly exceptional... Yet, what good is that when scheduling an appointment seems impossible? I've been attempting to call at 8 AM for three consecutive days. Today, I spent 20 minutes just waiting to enter the queue, and then another 25 minutes sitting in line, only to have the queue reset every 2-3 minutes. EXPAND YOUR STAFF, STOP USING "WE'RE BUSY" AS AN EXCUSE. I'm abandoning this medical practice today.

Frustrating phone calls and locked doors at surgery

The medical staff are competent, but calling Grove Road Surgery involves navigating through four different pre-recorded announcements from different individuals before reaching the automated menu. First a Covid-19 alert, then a welcome message, followed by a note from Dr Luke, another suggestion about using the pharmacy or 111, and finally the menu. Regardless, you'll likely be so grateful to actually connect by phone that you'll tolerate the process. This morning required 36 dialing attempts, only to be informed no doctor was available and advised to try the local pharmacy. I explained I'd made an identical call the previous day, been directed to a pharmacy, and discovered all four pharmacies redirected me back to the doctor. Subsequently, I was promised a clinician would return my call. The callback occurred, an appointment was scheduled at the otherwise closed surgery, but then the prescription couldn't be processed due to Boots Pharmacy's system failure. Ultimately, I obtained nothing after significant effort. Today, 30 July: Arrived at the surgery precisely on time. The door was locked. Rang the bell. Waited. Receptionist opened the door: "Name?", "Battaliou", "Wait here". Door closes. I wait outside in Eastbourne's lovely sunshine... Nurse appears and admits me. "Don't touch the door! Did you touch the door?", "Yes", "Now I must disinfect it". "How am I supposed to enter without pushing?", "You should wait. Take your temperature... Follow me"... "Blood pressure slightly elevated", "That might relate to the door stress, shall we recheck?"... "It's decreasing"... "Try again"... "Now it's dropping"... Photographic evidence of the nurse's blood-drawing attempt.

Abysmal customer support! Staff display zero compassion or understanding, behaving rudely and with complete impatience, creating roadblocks for every single request, demonstrating extreme inefficiency with in-person and phone assistance that's essentially nonexistent!! Calling their service "lousy" would actually be a generous description.

Terrible service and impossible to get appointments

I've been a loyal patient since 2002, and everything was fine until I was involved in a car accident this year. Since January 18th, I've been unable to schedule an appointment. Their scheduling system was problematic last year, but now it's completely non-functional! I'm actively seeking a new medical practice because I prioritize my healthcare. It's disheartening to see how their operations have deteriorated, though the staff remains pleasant if you can actually secure an appointment.

Friendly and efficient staff despite surgery challenges

It's well-documented that primary care practices are facing significant challenges. Medical professionals are reluctant to become general practitioners, and existing GPs are leaving the profession or retiring prematurely due to overwhelming stress—a situation clearly reflected at the Grove Road medical center. Despite these difficulties, I've consistently found the staff here to be exceptionally welcoming and competent, even while clearly operating under considerable pressure. My appreciation goes out to them.
