Feedback reveals a practice significantly challenged by appointment access and reception experience, with persistent issues dominating patient accounts. Lengthy phone waiting times, frequently exceeding an hour, combined with limited booking windows and frequent call disconnections, create substantial barriers to accessing care. Reception staff conduct has emerged as a key concern, with patients reporting discourteous interactions, dismissive attitudes, and poor communication. Many describe feeling unable to reach the practice by phone, with some resorting to in-person visits as the only viable alternative. Prescription management and administrative responsiveness have also been cited as problematic areas.
In contrast, several patients have praised the clinical care provided by individual doctors, highlighting exceptional professionalism, attentiveness, and compassionate approaches to patient support. These positive experiences suggest that once patients access clinical consultations, the quality of medical care can be notably good. The disparity between access difficulties and clinical quality indicates the practice's primary challenges lie in operational and administrative systems rather than medical expertise.
The practice appears to operate under significant resource constraints, with limited appointment availability and restricted booking times creating frustration across the patient population. While some patients acknowledge these broader NHS pressures, the cumulative effect of access barriers and reception experience issues has led many to seek alternative providers or express serious concerns about the sustainability of their care at this practice.

Excellent!
Exceptional care from a compassionate medical team
I count myself fortunate to have had exceptional interactions with this medical facility. Dr. Kazi and the Physiotherapist have been incredibly supportive and instrumental in my care. While securing appointments can be challenging, particularly during times of urgent need, I've observed that this scheduling difficulty is fairly typical across the Walthamforest area. My encounters with the reception staff have been limited but without any negative incidents. An additional advantage is the straightforward parking situation, with a good chance of finding a spot right in front of the practice. A heartfelt appreciation goes out to the entire team at Handsworth medical practice - and hopefully, I won't require their services again in the near future.

Terrible medical practice with zero customer service
Absolutely worthless general practice, steer clear of this place. They dragged out a straightforward medical report for my job, making me wait a ridiculous 4 weeks, and now they're demanding additional information via email. How incompetent can they be? I'm baffled by their hiring practices - these people are beyond unprofessional. The 1.5-star rating should have been a massive red flag. Do yourself a favor and avoid this clinic at all costs. I'm so frustrated that I even have to be in this area with such a terrible medical practice. They don't even deserve a single star for their abysmal service.

Frustrating healthcare system fails patient completely
I've been attempting to schedule a consultation via econsult for nearly a fortnight, and each time I try, they appear to be completely booked, preventing me from submitting my medical issue. Trying to reach them by phone is futile, as I'm stuck at 16th in line and can't spend hours waiting due to work commitments. Their system has created an insurmountable barrier to obtaining an appointment, and accessing healthcare should not be this challenging—it's a fundamental need, not some optional service.

Worst medical service ever terrible patient experience
The decline of this establishment is beyond description... the front desk staff are completely incompetent. I attempted to schedule a doctor's appointment at 8am, only to be instructed by the receptionist to call back at 11am for no apparent reason. When I did call at 11am, the phone went unanswered. They finally responded four hours later, only to inform me it was too late to book an appointment - a recurring pattern of dismissal! This is an utter disaster. What is even the purpose of such a service?

Frustrating scheduling but caring doctors when seen
Scheduling a consultation at this medical facility is an exercise in futility. Appointments are virtually non-existent, and I haven't managed to secure one in the past twelve months. However, during the few instances I've actually interacted with the physicians, they've been genuinely pleasant and supportive, which is the sole reason I'm reluctantly awarding two stars instead of the minimum rating.

Compassionate care that truly makes a difference
After being a patient at Handsworth medical practice for over a decade, I finally experienced a consultation that left me feeling genuinely supported and understood. While I've always respected the doctors here, this encounter with Dr. North was truly exceptional. He listened intently to every detail I shared, demonstrating remarkable attentiveness and responding with immediate, compassionate action. I couldn't help but think how much better healthcare could be if all general practitioners approached patient care with such genuine concern and dedication. The vulnerability of having your health dependent on someone else's expertise can be overwhelming, so when a healthcare professional truly connects and takes meaningful steps to help, it's incredibly validating. Dr. North has restored my faith in personalized medical care, and I'm profoundly grateful for his exceptional approach.

Terrible service and unprofessional medical care
I had an appointment at this medical practice recently, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The staff's attitude and level of care were unacceptably poor. If a zero-star rating were an option, I would have selected it without hesitation. My strong recommendation to anyone seeking medical care is to find a different general practitioner who actually provides quality treatment and demonstrates basic professional courtesy.

Poor!
Frustrating service with inconsistent medical care
The staff here seem largely indifferent and unaccommodating. Phone response times are incredibly slow. While a few doctors are decent, others are completely ineffective. You end up feeling like your entire appointment was pointless. The process of scheduling or even communicating with the staff is unnecessarily complicated and frustrating.

Terrible service from unhelpful and rude receptionist
Sharon, the receptionist, is utterly unsuitable for her customer-facing role. Her interpersonal skills are abysmal, and she consistently demonstrates a complete lack of empathy. She routinely terminates phone calls made by my family members, acting more like an obstructive gatekeeper than a helpful point of contact focused on patient care. Multiple formal complaints have been submitted, yet no resolution has been forthcoming.

Great service at my local gp practice
I'm quite astonished by the numerous negative accounts from other patients at this medical center. Seems like I've been fortunate. Dr. Bashir consistently provides excellent care, and nurse Michelle is arguably the most outstanding healthcare professional I've encountered since becoming a patient here. There were two additional nurses who were also supportive in previous interactions, though their names escape me. The front desk staff can be inconsistent, but I cannot claim that anyone has ever been discourteous towards me.

Terrible healthcare practice with unhelpful staff
As a healthcare professional, I am utterly frustrated with this medical practice. The staff are incredibly unhelpful and, in my opinion, are not suited to working in a GP clinic where the primary focus should be on patient care and support. Booking an appointment is an exercise in futility. They insist on calling at precisely 8:00am, but frequently on Mondays and Fridays, they conveniently keep their phones off or leave patients waiting in an endless queue, starting at positions 35-60, which is completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they are careless with patient records - I spent two exhausting hours on the phone trying to locate my blood test forms, only to be met with incompetence. Being registered with Handsworth as your primary GP practice is an absolute nightmare, and I strongly recommend seeking out alternative clinics that actually demonstrate compassion and competence.

Registration nightmare with zero customer support
Utterly exasperating and disheartening! I sent in my registration form over seven days ago, and there's been absolute radio silence with no acknowledgment or response whatsoever. Worried about the status, I've been diligently attempting to contact their registration helpline starting at 8:00 AM daily, yet consistently failing to connect with a representative. Each time, the call inexplicably disconnects after approximately half an hour, leaving me increasingly frustrated and in the dark.

Worst medical practice ever terrible healthcare experience
Handsworth Medical Practice. The word 'practise' perfectly captures their essence. At best, they're a group of ineffective, narcissistic amateurs. Their service is utterly appalling and has been consistently terrible over an extended period. Regrettably, they continue to maintain their abysmal standards without improvement.

Terrible service since dr ormerod's departure
Since Dr. Ormerod's departure, the medical practice has completely deteriorated. He was truly an exceptional physician. Obtaining monthly prescription refills has become an absolute nightmare - a straightforward process that should be effortless has turned into an incredibly frustrating ordeal. Adding insult to injury, their staff is completely unresponsive and fails to even pick up the telephone.

Frustrating healthcare with zero customer service
Scheduling an appointment is a nightmare. These healthcare providers desperately need a wake-up call or should be replaced entirely. Their staff is unresponsive and seem completely disinterested in answering calls. I strongly advise avoiding this practice to preserve your sanity. After being their patient for a year, I deeply regret my choice.

Worst medical practice ever terrible customer service
Scheduling an appointment seems like an insurmountable challenge, and the customer service is abysmal. I'm in urgent need of a passport for a funeral and simply need a professional to spend half a minute writing their credentials on a form. The receptionist responded with obvious frustration and essentially refused to help. I wouldn't mind if there were genuine obstacles, but the sheer lack of compassion and professionalism at a medical practice is truly disheartening and demoralizing.

Impossible to book a doctor's appointment here
I've been attempting to schedule a doctor's appointment for three consecutive days without success! On the first day, the appointment line shut down after 8am. The second day, after a lengthy wait, I selected the callback option, and an hour later, a representative informed me no appointments were available. On the third day, I was number 29 in the telephone queue and after waiting over 30 minutes, just as I reached first in line, the call dropped! When I tried again and chose the callback option, another representative later told me no appointments were available and advised me to call 111! Incredibly frustrating! The practice desperately needs to overhaul their appointment booking system. I've been a patient at Handsworth medical practice for over 12 years, but I'm truly sorry to say that their service is now at its absolute lowest point.

Frustrating phone tag with mysterious medical office
Update 09.04.25: Here's a novel experience for me. I spent the entire workday anticipating my scheduled "appointment" (phone consultation). As my phone rang beside me, I promptly answered, only to find the call had already disconnected. Typically, when missing an important call, one receives a voicemail or text message, but in this instance, I received nothing. They subsequently called back within the hour. During the second attempt, I again answered within milliseconds, yet the call terminated before I could fully engage. Are medical professionals now employing "drop calling" tactics near day's end to manipulate their performance metrics? Notably, no voicemail was left, suggesting my phone didn't successfully connect. I immediately attempted to return the call, but no receptionist was available to assist me.

Frustrating experience with unhelpful medical reception staff
Today I was prevented from consulting with a doctor. Since my regular physician was unavailable, I desperately tried to request an appointment with any available medical professional, but was firmly told that only the specific GP could address my concerns. I am genuinely frustrated about this morning's experience.
