Appointment access remains the most significant challenge reported across feedback, with patients describing extensive phone queues, unavailable slots despite early morning calls, and difficulties using online booking systems. Waiting times for callbacks frequently exceed hours, and patients report being redirected to walk-in centres or emergency services when appointments cannot be secured. Reception experience emerges as a secondary concern, with feedback indicating staff discourtesy, poor communication, and instances of calls being disconnected during interactions.
When consultations are obtained, clinical care receives mixed assessments. Some patients report positive experiences with attentive doctors demonstrating compassion and clinical expertise, while others describe dismissive consultations and lack of engagement with their concerns. Prescription management and medication refills present ongoing friction points, with patients experiencing delays and communication breakdowns between reception, pharmacy, and clinical staff.
Facility conditions and organisational systems require attention, including non-functional check-in equipment, cramped reception areas, and booking platforms that malfunction or create barriers for patients. A small number of reviews acknowledge professional communication and supportive staff, though these positive experiences are substantially outweighed by reports of systemic access difficulties and inconsistent service quality across the practice.

Bad!
Frustrating booking process at my local GP
Absolutely dreadful experience. Whenever I attempt to schedule appointments, the staff insist I use the online booking system, but when I try the NHS app, it redirects me to call the GP directly. The reception personnel are consistently discourteous. There's a clear need for significant service enhancement. Frustrating situation.

Confusing system wastes everyone's time
The recently implemented system clearly requires refinement. I wonder if anyone ever reviews these recorded interactions. It seems quite apparent that the documentation would reveal how patients are genuinely handled by administrative staff, and how these secretaries are constantly forced to reiterate the same details, which significantly disrupts their ability to perform their core responsibilities.

Rude Doctor Questioned My Language Skills
During my two visits to this GP, I encountered Dr Simon Butler, who spoke to me in a manner that implied I might not understand English, based solely on my appearance. His approach was deeply offensive, making me feel uncomfortable and judged by my ethnicity and religion rather than being treated with basic respect. He attempted to normalize his inappropriate questioning, but it was clear that he would not have spoken this way to a white patient, despite the fact that language proficiency varies across all racial groups. Dr Simon Butler urgently needs to improve his communication skills and professional approach to avoid causing unnecessary distress to patients who are perfectly capable of understanding and speaking English. His discriminatory attitude towards visible Muslim women is unacceptable and unprofessional. I cannot recommend this doctor or his practice due to his shocking conduct. He should focus on developing genuine empathy, cultural sensitivity, and proper medical etiquette. His behavior is completely unacceptable and requires immediate correction!!!!!

Rude Doctor Ignored My Concerns Completely
Dr. Mohammed Gani displayed a complete lack of empathy and professionalism during my consultation. He utterly ignored my concerns and made me feel insignificant while I was seeking medical assistance. His dismissive attitude was appalling, casually stating that nothing was wrong despite my clear distress. Such unprofessional conduct is unacceptable, and it's now obvious to me why this medical practice has such a poor standing in the community.

Terrible urine infection wait at medical centre
This Medical Centre's service is absolutely terrible. They refuse to schedule any appointments, and I've been battling a urinary infection for an entire month without receiving any assistance. Their staff's attitude is extremely unprofessional and dismissive.

Dr Branco's Compassionate Care Today
I visited Dr. Marco Branco at the medical clinic and was genuinely impressed by the exceptional care I received. I want to emphasize how attentive he was while listening to my medical concerns. He approached me as a unique individual, not just another case file, and demonstrated remarkable compassion and professionalism. His pleasant demeanor and respectful attitude, combined with genuine empathy, are increasingly rare qualities in today's healthcare environment. Dr. Branco, I sincerely hope you maintain this outstanding approach to patient care. Your level of professionalism is truly outstanding.

Waited Hours, Never Got Through
Edit: Acknowledged the standard response from Frankie. The claim of heightened workload has been a recurring justification for the past six years. At 10 AM today, I received a message about a surgical consultation attempting to reach out. Yet, no missed calls have appeared on my phone! Previous review: I find myself in complete agreement with fellow patients' experiences. Your options are limited: (a) endure a two-hour wait only to be disconnected, or (b) select the call-back option, which predictably never materializes. Instead, you'll receive a fabricated message claiming HWMC attempted contact. While the doctors are genuinely helpful on the rare occasions you actually connect with them, this minimal positive aspect cannot compensate for the fundamentally dysfunctional nature of their service.

Endless Runaround at the Doctor's Office
Utterly appalling service I encountered during a simple blood test follow-up. Initially, I spent over two hours on hold, only to be abruptly disconnected. After visiting the clinic, I managed to secure an appointment. However, when needing another follow-up, I couldn't reach anyone by phone. Returning to the surgery, I was dismissively handed a link instead of booking an appointment. The app proved to be an incredibly complex, poorly designed system that was completely useless. I laboriously completed numerous questions, hoping for a callback. Their staff repeatedly suggested I return, yet consistently redirected me elsewhere. The compassionate healthcare system I once knew seems to have completely disappeared. I'm thoroughly demoralized by this experience.

Appointment Canceled at the Last Minute
Zero stars, completely dissatisfied with their service. I've been attempting to schedule an appointment for weeks and finally got one last week for today, May 29th, 2025. I specifically requested time off from my job for this appointment, only to receive a cancellation text message this morning. When I tried calling to reschedule, I was met with a 23-person call queue. If you're unable to expand your service capabilities, you should consider shutting down. This isn't an isolated incident. Stop wasting our time. I've squandered my precious vacation day.

Terrible Service for My Elderly Mum
I'd assign a zero rating if the system allowed it. Completely unsatisfactory. After enduring a two-hour wait to receive communication, I was merely offered another link, which, upon attempting to schedule an appointment for my mother, displayed zero availability! The staff suggested I email the practice to file a complaint, seriously? Again? I constantly find myself lodging complaints every time I attempt to arrange something for my mum, yet absolutely nothing improves! It's incomprehensible how such treatment can be considered acceptable, especially for elderly or vulnerable individuals who must waste two hours just to speak with someone. Urgent systemic changes are absolutely necessary!

Long Wait at Family Doctor's Office
I rang at 8:40 and I'm still waiting without a callback, just a text message. When I called back, I'm first in the queue, and it's been an hour already. This is supposed to be my family practice, but I'm seriously considering finding a different doctor. I suspect they're deliberately stalling to go on break, and I'll end up visiting the surgery in person only to be told no appointments are available. Then what? Am I supposed to go to the walk-in centre or hospital? It's impossible with my work schedule from 10-6, and the doctors only open at 9. Honestly, I don't even want an apology anymore because it won't solve anything or help my situation.

Smooth ride home after midnight flight
This product is absolutely worthless. I can't believe I wasted my money on such a useless piece of junk. It doesn't do anything it claims to do, and the quality is so poor that it fell apart after just one use. Save yourself the frustration and don't even think about buying this garbage. Complete waste of time and money.

Worst Business Practice I've Ever Encountered
It seems this establishment's sole purpose is to mock and frustrate its customers. It's baffling how such an incompetent operation continues to function. This might as well be a psychological study testing the limits of human patience. After just one interaction since moving to the neighborhood, I'm completely done with them and want absolutely no further involvement.

Dyslexic Patient Struggled with Paperwork
I walked into the medical office seeking guidance, and they handed me a form. When I explained that I have dyslexia and require assistance, their response was that no staff member was available to help me fill out the paperwork.

Impossible to Reach This Frustrating GP
I've been attempting to reach this general practitioner for nearly three weeks, constantly encountering a phone queue that perpetually shows "over 30" people ahead of me. I press the button to receive a callback, yet never receive one. Occasionally, I'm sent a frustrating text at 6:30pm stating "Your surgery tried to call you back or your call timed out. If you still wish to speak to us, please call again before 6:30pm" - which makes no sense, as they're already closed when sending this message. It's completely absurd. My new GP has also tried to make contact but has been unable to get any response. The situation is utterly ridiculous. All I want is for my medical records to be transferred to my current GP, and I want nothing more to do with Handsworth Wood Medical Centre. In fact, I would advise others to avoid this practice entirely.

Neglected and Let Down at Handsworth Medical Centre
It's deeply frustrating that the persistent negative patient feedback seems to result in no meaningful action. My own journey has involved a series of troubling encounters highlighting profound professional shortcomings and apparent disregard. These experiences have directly contributed to a delayed medical diagnosis with severe, life-altering ramifications. I'm not seeking empty words of regret or pity. What's urgently needed is substantive transformation. Lives are literally at stake. Handsworth Medical Centre requires comprehensive, fundamental restructuring. Yet all we receive in response is a perfunctory "Sorry for your negative experience."
