Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience at this practice, with significant operational challenges dominating the narrative. Appointment access remains the most persistent concern, with patients reporting weeks-long waits, phone lines consistently at capacity, and online booking systems that are either non-functional or inaccessible. Communication failures are widespread, including missed callbacks, delayed responses to urgent requests, and inadequate support for patients with accessibility needs. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients praising courteous and responsive staff, while others describe dismissive or unhelpful interactions. Prescription handling errors have caused frustration and health impacts for multiple patients. On a positive note, when patients do access care, clinical quality is frequently praised, with patients appreciating attentive listening, thorough examinations, and professional care from individual clinicians and nurses. Several reviews highlight exceptional responsiveness from specific staff members and efficient same-day prescription processing. However, these positive experiences appear inconsistent and insufficient to offset systemic access and communication barriers that prevent many patients from reaching services in the first place.
The practice faces particular challenges supporting vulnerable populations, including elderly patients unfamiliar with digital systems and those requiring urgent or specialist care. Patients report feeling dismissed when presenting with serious health concerns and frustrated by bureaucratic processes that delay necessary treatment. While some recent reviews suggest modest improvements in reception courtesy and online responsiveness, the overwhelming pattern indicates that appointment availability, phone accessibility, and timely communication remain critical areas requiring substantial improvement to meet patient expectations and healthcare standards.

Frustrating customer service with zero communication options
Unable to hold for assistance or submit a voicemail, and the digital reservation system lacks the flexibility needed to address my specific request.

Negligent doctor fails to diagnose serious injury
My spouse experienced a fall resulting in arm trauma. His hand has remained enlarged and causing him discomfort for an extended period. Although the emergency department found no bone break, the hand continues to be swollen and painful after two months. He reached out via email to his primary care physician, who recommended an ECG as the most critical diagnostic test. I'm particularly frustrated that the doctor conducted this consultation remotely without a direct examination. It's truly unbelievable 😞

Hereford healthcare nightmare of epic proportions
The healthcare service in Hereford is an absolute travesty, particularly if you're naive enough to depend on it for something as critical as GP services. Consider this a stark warning to anyone contemplating moving to Hereford: avoid it if you cherish your health and mental well-being. My wife has been bedridden for over six weeks, experiencing dramatic weight loss, exhaustion, and debilitating weakness. Our efforts to secure a GP appointment have been an absolute bureaucratic nightmare. The initial response to our desperate pleas was a callous directive to complete an online form, which they casually mentioned would be reviewed after an interminable five-day delay. The earliest appointment they grudgingly offered was an absurd five weeks distant. Fortunately, my ability to work remotely has prevented additional financial strain from her inability to contribute to our household expenses. In a moment of misguided optimism, I personally visited the Quay House surgery, only to encounter shuttered windows and locked entrances. Through the HMG website, I discovered the facility was closed due to "staff shortages". Desperation drove us to contact Station Medical Practice, whose advice was to call 111 for an "emergency GP appointment." This bureaucratic merry-go-round continued as 111 redirected us back to the GP, who declared all staff conveniently unavailable due to training until 4:30pm, yet suggested we remain on hold for "urgent" matters. This absurd sequence concluded with connection to an entirely different surgery, which proved utterly useless, recommending we either visit A&E or wait until 4:30. Our A&E visit saw the head doctor advising the overcrowded room, predominantly filled with victims of this atrocious GP service, to return to their GP surgeries if their cases weren't "urgent." It was a stark revelation that 80% of those present were driven to A&E not by choice but by the sheer incompetence and negligence of GP services. Discussions with fellow patients revealed a unanimous conclusion: the GP service in Hereford hasn't just failed but has comprehensively collapsed. This entire experience has exposed Hereford's GP services as a catastrophic breakdown, a healthcare black hole where community needs vanish into a chasm of neglect and incompetence. The suggestion that any semblance of responsible management exists within this system is preposterous. Should they deign to respond to this review, I anticipate it will mirror the same indifference and ineptitude characterizing our horrifying experience. It's evident that in Hereford, the health and welfare of residents are of no consequence to those managing GP services, a fact both disgraceful and unpardonable.

Terrible healthcare pushing patients away from practice
My elderly mother relies on this medical practice, and their service has deteriorated so significantly that she's planning to relocate from Hereford, with inadequate healthcare being a primary factor. I'm unsure whether they're overwhelmed or simply incompetent, but patients clearly merit a higher standard of care.

Frustrating healthcare system fails patients miserably
Absolutely dreadful, this place doesn't function like a proper medical practice at all. It's nothing more than an empty room taking up space. Getting an appointment seems impossible, and even reaching them by phone is a test of patience that can drag on for ages. The funding is clearly inadequate, making the whole operation a complete mockery. I can't recall my national insurance contributions ever decreasing, yet the standard of healthcare continues to plummet annually. At this point, I'm completely baffled about what my payments are actually supporting, as it's certainly not providing the basic ability to consult a doctor when necessary.

Unexpected support from 111 service truly impressed me
I feel compelled to describe my unexpectedly positive encounter with HMG, which contrasts with prior accounts I'd heard. Throughout January 2024, I've reached out to 111 on two occasions, and each time I experienced supportive communication and proactive assistance. One interaction led to an out-of-hours GP consultation, while another secured an urgent GP appointment within 48 hours. My specific healthcare requirements were carefully addressed, and both medical consultations were outstanding. I genuinely felt listened to with genuine empathy, and every critical aspect of my concerns was thoroughly examined, with promised follow-up feedback delivered as committed. This experience has genuinely reassured me, though I acknowledge that individual experiences can vary widely. My personal interaction has been remarkably positive. My appreciation goes to the team.

Terrible service and incompetent medical staff nightmare
I called their office and endured a grueling hour-long wait in the phone queue, starting at position 32, only to be dismissively told "our staff are fully occupied, try calling again later" the moment I finally reached the front. I scheduled an appointment specifically for a quick blood draw (a procedure that should take mere minutes) and ended up spending over an hour there. To make matters worse, the phlebotomist was so incompetent that they left me with a massive, painful bruise. My heart goes out to anyone who has to interact with this so-called "medical" facility on a regular basis.

Worst customer service in the 21st century
Updated Jan 2024 Still absolutely no improvement, and arguably the situation has deteriorated. I attempted to reschedule an appointment and endured an astonishing 105-minute wait to have my call answered (yes, that's one hour and forty-five minutes!!!). The subsequent conversation to move the appointment was brief. Surely technology and modern systems should enable a more streamlined process! We're supposedly living in the 21st Century!!! (supposedly) Updated Oct 2023 How can the NHS function when obtaining a doctor's appointment requires completing a form, then waiting five days for them to assess and determine the urgency of your medical need! Updated - After investing 2.5 hours attempting to phone for an appointment, I finally connected. Securing the appointment was straightforward, and the subsequent service was exceptional. It's tremendously frustrating that accessing this quality care requires such an arduous initial process. 1 star for the nightmarish connection experience, but 5 stars for the service afterward. Original - Absolutely unacceptable. When phoning to request an appointment, the answer machine indicated they couldn't even accept my call. Since their medical group merger, it appears they've chosen to minimize reception staffing costs!!

Compassionate doctor makes diabetes management feel achievable
Visited Dr. Hannah today and what a delightful experience. She's an incredibly supportive physician who provided such a positive perspective on my diabetes management. Her approach made me feel confident and reassured about my health. Truly grateful for her care.

Terrible experience with unprofessional medical group
Utterly disappointing. The digital platform is unreliable and frustrating - phone support desperately requires improvement, especially for individuals facing accessibility challenges. I scheduled an appointment and endured an excessive wait exceeding an hour - the front desk personnel were not just unhelpful, but also engaged in inappropriate conversations discussing sensitive topics in a nearly vacant waiting area. It seems I've been incorrectly routed to an inappropriate department. This medical practice is fundamentally unacceptable and fails to meet basic service standards.

Terrible experience with unprofessional medical office
Utterly disappointing experience. Spent three-quarters of an hour in the waiting area only to learn the physician was a no-show. Subsequently informed that my next consultation is scheduled for January 24th (which is a full month away, already being two weeks behind my original follow-up timeline due to scheduling constraints). Then wasted an additional 20 minutes attempting to locate a supervisor to address my concerns. If you have any alternative, I strongly advise steering clear of this medical practice...

Smooth sailing with hmg healthcare services
I had previously become accustomed to hearing gripes about long wait times and service delays, but my latest interactions have been surprisingly pleasant, suggesting HMG might be improving its operations. The only drawback was the two-week wait for my appointment, which prevents me from awarding a perfect rating. Nevertheless, the doctor successfully addressed a chronic health issue I've been struggling with, and for that, I'm deeply appreciative. When I subsequently needed some documentation and called, I was amazed to be first in the queue! The reception staff were incredibly supportive, and the staff member who located my historical records just before my critical deadline was equally helpful. I sincerely hope these recent positive experiences represent the emerging standard for HMG moving forward!

Terrible service from an unresponsive medical center
Completely impossible to reach them by phone. Utterly worthless. CONSTANTLY too swamped to pick up. Absolutely no return calls, which is shameful. I'm unable to schedule a standard doctor's appointment online, with only flu shot slots being accessible. I'm planning to file a formal complaint with NHS. Something is fundamentally wrong with this medical practice. To whoever responds with generic, copied responses: actually examine these reviews and think critically... can all these patients really be mistaken? Definitely not! Look into this properly.

Disappointing nhs service leaves patient frustrated and helpless
I sought guidance and a prescription via the online request system. The response was to contact a pharmacy, who informed me they would no longer fulfill my prescription, and I would need to obtain it privately. I'm genuinely perplexed about the purpose of national insurance contributions when this is the level of service being delivered. It seems far more appealing to invest in a private healthcare plan, as it's evident the NHS has become completely ineffective and inadequate.

Terrible service leaves elderly patient frustrated and distressed
I am utterly appalled by the abysmal way my elderly mother was handled today. I scheduled her appointment and was curtly instructed to "sit in the waiting area". After lingering for half an hour, the receptionist informed us that the appointment was actually at a different location - so why were we initially directed here? The entire situation is infuriating. They callously told her to return at 2:00 PM when it was only 9:30 in the morning. I'm deeply concerned about how isolated, vulnerable individuals who rely on taxi services would manage such an inconvenience. My mother's entire day has been disrupted, and it's no wonder her blood pressure is elevated after such disrespectful treatment. After reviewing other experiences, it seems this kind of negligent approach is sadly routine for this medical practice.

Worst medical clinic ever avoid at all costs
Absolutely abysmal healthcare experience. The personnel are discourteous, and it's virtually impossible to secure a medical consultation. By mid-morning, the facility is consistently overbooked, leaving patients without any viable options for treatment.

Wasted time and energy on terrible service
After enduring a lengthy wait of several weeks to secure an appointment, I finally received a scheduled date. Upon arrival, I was informed it was a "staff training day" without any prior communication or warning. The complete lack of notice and professionalism from the staff was utterly frustrating and unacceptable.
