Patient feedback reflects a mixed experience with significant inconsistencies in service quality. Clinical care receives consistent praise, with patients highlighting exceptional diagnostic expertise, compassionate nursing support, and responsive emergency care. However, substantial concerns centre on appointment access and booking experience, with patients reporting extended waiting periods, delayed callbacks, and difficulty securing timely consultations. Reception experience emerges as a particular area of concern, with multiple accounts of dismissive conduct, poor communication, and inadequate responsiveness to patient needs. Prescription management issues and cancelled appointments without explanation also feature prominently across reviews.
The practice demonstrates notable variation in service delivery. While some patients describe welcoming staff and prompt assistance, others report frustration with gatekeeping behaviour, unresponsive communication channels, and lack of accountability. Several long-term patients note a marked deterioration in service quality over recent years. Concerns about appointment availability appear systemic, with patients facing waits of several weeks and being redirected to walk-in centres or pharmacies rather than receiving GP consultations.
Positive experiences highlight the value of individual clinicians and nursing staff who provide attentive, supportive care. However, these strengths are substantially undermined by organisational challenges affecting access, communication, and continuity of care. The inconsistency between positive clinical interactions and negative administrative experiences suggests systemic issues requiring attention to ensure reliable, responsive service across all patient touchpoints.

Highfield surgery fails patient with terrible care
Highfield Surgery epitomizes inconsistency—particularly in my care, which has been consistently subpar for over two years. Managing a chronic condition and dependent on opiates that have progressively lost effectiveness, my repeated concerns have been systematically disregarded and minimized. Had this surgery genuinely addressed my complaints and conducted appropriate investigations two years ago, I would not be experiencing the current level of pain and deterioration. Instead, I was arbitrarily diagnosed with MLBP (Mechanical Lower Back Pain) without any diagnostic imaging to substantiate their claim. Subsequent scans have conclusively demonstrated the significant progression of my condition. Such negligence and misdiagnosis is profoundly unacceptable and verges on medical malpractice. During my most recent consultation, clinician Leon callously suggested I "learn to manage my pain"—a statement that is not only patronizing but deeply dismissive, especially considering the practice's direct responsibility for overlooking my concerns, delaying critical referrals, and failing to thoroughly investigate my condition. Only after two years of relentless advocacy have I finally secured referrals that should have been immediate. Their systematic inaction has condemned me to extended waiting periods for MSK and Orthopaedic services—delays that were entirely preventable had the practice fulfilled its fundamental responsibilities when I initially sought help. I could have been progressing through a treatment plan and approaching recovery, instead of being trapped in a limbo of unnecessary suffering. If you desire patronization, misdiagnosis, and systematic dismissal, Highfield Surgery is your ideal destination. For those seeking genuine medical attention and compassionate listening—seek alternatives. This surgery has comprehensively failed me, and I would not wish my traumatic experience upon anyone.

Skilled doctors help navigate unexpected medical journey
I encountered several outstanding physicians at this facility. Their diagnostic abilities are impressive, despite a slight holdup caused by one staff member. Currently, I'm on an expedited medical track due to some surprising test results, which is somewhat unnerving. They've also managed my skin cancer referral effectively and promptly, ensuring a swift biopsy process.

Terrible service for a sick child's urgent care
A truly disappointing encounter. My spouse contacted the medical office early morning to schedule a consultation for our 8-year-old daughter, who was suffering from severe ear pain and fever. The front desk staff attempted to redirect us to a pharmacy and promised a callback, which never materialized. Upon visiting the pharmacy, they refused treatment and merely suggested using olive oil ear drops 😞 😓 A subsequent conversation with the receptionist revealed they were completely unavailable for an appointment. This level of healthcare service is unacceptable and demonstrates a complete lack of professional consideration. The entire experience was utterly frustrating and inadequate.

Disappointing decline of once reliable medical practice
I've been a patient at Highfield for over six years, but in the past two to three years, especially since COVID, the quality of care has drastically declined. Their solution now is to redirect patients to a pharmacist for consultations, which is completely absurd. If they can't properly care for their patients, they might as well close down. It feels like they might as well set an automated message after 8am saying, "Go to the emergency room, walk-in clinic, or pharmacy because we can't be bothered to see you."

Urgent medical concern needs immediate attention now
I'm noticing my bronchitis symptoms are seemingly not critical, yet I'm incredibly worried. The possibility of waiting weeks for an appointment is shocking. This approach feels like pure negligence rather than proper medical care.

Frustrating healthcare experience with poor communication
Inconsistent experience with this medical procedure. The physicians consistently fail to engage with or review messages left regarding prescription refills, forcing patients to repeatedly pursue and track down essential medications.

Dangerous medical practice puts patients lives at risk
Utterly disgraceful conduct. I've been with Highfield for approximately 2-3 years, and I've never encountered such an incompetent medical practice. Having managed my asthma for 38 years with a specific inhaler combination, I'm repeatedly frustrated by their arbitrary removal of my primary inhaler without warning or consultation. Despite multiple discussions with the asthma nurse, who confirmed the necessity of both prescriptions, they continue to arbitrarily eliminate my critical medication. This latest incident is the absolute breaking point, and I'm now filing a formal complaint. For an establishment claiming to be a healthcare provider, they are recklessly jeopardizing patient health by restricting access to medication that has successfully controlled my breathing for over 37 years. I've already transferred my registration to another local practice and would emphatically advise anyone against engaging with this complete organizational disaster.

Terrible medical service with unhelpful receptionists
It appears this is a recurring problem, judging by the numerous negative reviews. After submitting an online form, I received a callback only to be informed that I must wait three days to determine if the GP considers my case urgent. Despite explicitly stating the urgency of my situation, I was dismissed. Since when do receptionists or doctors have the right to judge the severity of my personal experience? Clearly, the person experiencing the issue knows best. I wouldn't have requested an immediate appointment if it wasn't critical. Many people cannot afford to wait three days just to learn whether they'll even get an appointment. I'm thoroughly disappointed and strongly advise others to avoid this medical practice. The receptionist behaves like a typical healthcare gatekeeper, acting as if they know more about my condition than I do. They seem more interested in dictating terms than listening. Absolutely unacceptable service. 0/10.

Frustrating medical experience with lost test results
I've made multiple calls to schedule appointments and was directed to get blood work done. At the walk-in centre, a UTI was identified, but I was told to wait for the next available slot, which wasn't immediate. After undergoing blood tests and providing a urine sample, I was stunned when the receptionist claimed they couldn't locate my test results. This led to an additional 4-hour wait at the Walk-in Centre. The entire experience was absolutely absurd.

Terrible service and zero help from medical practice
I experienced an absolutely terrible ordeal trying to get help from this medical practice. Despite desperately needing assistance, I was repeatedly told they attempted to contact me, and even after providing another phone number, they still didn't call. I had to make three separate calls just to get support, and eventually gave up and went to bed feeling frustrated. I hoped the practice manager would reach out, but I'm skeptical that will happen. When I called today, a receptionist informed me the earliest phone consultation was on May 24th. After waiting four minutes on hold after giving my name, they promised someone would call back. My treatment and medication are critically important and could seriously impact my health, which they seemingly ignored. I called again at 1 PM, only to hear a message saying they were closed. I'm completely exhausted and at my wit's end. I've decided to change practices tomorrow because I simply cannot tolerate their complete lack of care and support any longer. This practice is utterly failing to help me.

Terrible service from once-trusted medical practice
I've been a patient at Highfield for over three decades, but in the past couple of years, the practice has seriously deteriorated. The front desk staff now behave as if they're medical professionals, routinely distributing incorrect test results and misleading patient information. They might as well set up an automated message after 9am telling everyone to head to the emergency room or walk-in clinic instead of providing proper medical support.

Worst medical care for young women ever
This medical practice is an absolute travesty and deeply offensive to young women. I've encountered multiple negative interactions with their 'physicians' who carelessly prescribe antidepressants or laxatives, with one Dr Patterson even dismissively asking me 'what I expected him to do' when I sought help for debilitating pelvic pain that was rendering me nearly immobile and in constant agony. The lack of empathy and understanding is appalling, and the receptionists are equally insensitive. After submitting a referral following concerning symptoms of extreme cramping and abnormal bleeding, I've been left waiting nearly two years to see a gynecologist specialist. When I followed up, a receptionist informed me that the female doctor I'd previously seen claimed there was nothing she could do. The receptionist, who had no personal knowledge of my medical history, proceeded to accuse me of lying and suggested that seeing a GP wouldn't expedite my specialist referral. This represents the most horrific experience I've encountered with a supposed healthcare professional meant to support vulnerable patients. As a young woman simply hoping to live a normal life with suspected endometriosis, I've never demanded strong painkillers or special treatment. I merely expected basic compassion and genuine medical assistance. I anticipated the female doctor would at least arrange an ultrasound to rule out serious complications like cyst rupture. I will absolutely never return to this practice and strongly advise other women to avoid this negligent facility. These individuals demonstrate complete indifference to patient health. I've endured nearly two years of agony, experienced multiple mental breakdowns, and desperately maintained hope in the healthcare system. Ultimately, I've transferred my care elsewhere due to their profound medical negligence.

Met Paul recently and the experience was absolutely fantastic. He immediately helped me feel comfortable, which is quite challenging given my typical unease. I'm truly grateful for his approach. In fact, throughout my interactions, everyone has demonstrated a remarkable ability to make me feel relaxed. My sincere appreciation goes out to all of them. Peter.

Frustrating delays prevent timely medical care access
Requested an appointment for Monday at 8am, and it's now Thursday. They've informed me that the pharmacy will determine medication availability on Monday, which means 10 days will have passed since my initial request. This level of service is simply unacceptable. Wasting taxpayer resources Poor communication
