Practice doesn't follow up on medication concerns

I was taught that if you have nothing positive to say, it's better to stay silent. However, I felt compelled to change my healthcare provider and felt the need to share my experience. Unfortunately, my spouse received care that I found to be inadequate during a period of significant illness. I felt the clinical team lacked compassion and there were delays in responding to queries about important prescriptions. Overall, I had the impression that the practice prioritised internal operations over patient care and support.

I am delighted to report that the standard of care I have received has been excellent. Getting through on the telephone initially presented some challenges, though I have noticed a significant improvement in call waiting times over the last couple of months. The front desk staff have consistently demonstrated outstanding professionalism, displaying warmth, courtesy and a genuine willingness to assist. It is unfortunate to hear that they occasionally face difficult interactions with certain patients, as they certainly do not merit such treatment.

My health has deteriorated significantly over the past year, making it increasingly difficult to manage daily activities. I am seeking assistance. I have made repeated attempts to address this, but the lack of responsiveness has been disheartening. I took time away from work to attend an appointment where I was told treatment would commence within two weeks, only to receive a call several weeks later informing me of a cancellation with no explanation or clarification provided. I was subsequently told a brief consultation would be arranged within the following week. I am struggling with discomfort and anxiety about my situation. During a recent trip abroad, a pharmacy worker noticed my visible distress and provided considerably more empathy, practical advice and support than I have experienced through my healthcare in the UK. I am puzzled by this disparity. I urgently need support and guidance.

Even when using the online consultation service, the response time stretches to one or two weeks before receiving a callback. The appointment system indicated I had a scheduled visit, however upon arriving at the clinic the staff were unable to locate my booking and seemed uncertain about why the appointment appeared in the system. Additionally, I was scheduled to see a specialist that did not match my needs, and I experienced a lengthy wait of nearly an hour without any explanation or updates.

I have made numerous calls this morning attempting to secure an appointment. It is now late morning and I have still not received a response. When appointments are eventually obtained, the clinical staff can display an unhelpful demeanor towards patients. It appears that experienced practitioners have departed, and the practice feels ineffective overall.

Phone queue turned away when unwell

I contacted my local practice and requested to speak with a clinician. I was informed that they had no available appointments. At the time of my call, I was experiencing significant health concerns and felt I required prompt medical attention. The practice advised me to contact the NHS helpline instead. That service was able to assist me and help arrange the medication I needed. I find it frustrating that my practice appears unable to accommodate patients when they contact them seeking help. This has been a recurring pattern throughout my experience with them.

I have not experienced such difficulties at other medical practices before. It is extremely challenging to reach this surgery by phone, and obtaining an appointment when needed proves to be very problematic.
