Patient Experience Summary

Appointment access remains the most significant challenge reported across feedback, with patients consistently describing lengthy phone queues, difficulty securing consultations, and limited availability despite repeated attempts to book. Communication barriers extend beyond appointment scheduling to include delayed follow-up contact, unresponsive phone lines, and reception staff who are frequently described as unhelpful or discourteous, creating friction at the first point of contact. While some patients have experienced compassionate nursing care and efficient prescription handling in isolated instances, these positive interactions stand in sharp contrast to widespread concerns about rushed consultations, lack of continuity when seeing different practitioners, and delayed clinical responsiveness to patient needs.

Prescription management and clinical follow-up present recurring problems, with patients reporting unexplained medication discontinuations, delayed repeat prescriptions, and inadequate communication about medication changes or required reviews. Reception staff have been noted making clinical recommendations without proper patient assessment, raising concerns about appropriate gatekeeping. Several patients describe feeling unheard during consultations or experiencing dismissive attitudes when raising health concerns.

A small number of recent reviews acknowledge positive experiences with specific staff members and efficient service delivery, suggesting that improvements are possible. However, the overall pattern indicates systemic issues with appointment availability, booking processes, phone communication, and reception experience that require substantial operational changes to meet patient expectations and ensure timely access to care.

Impossible to get appointments or repeat medications

I have found this practice to be extremely disappointing. Obtaining an appointment is consistently difficult. The service I have received has been unsatisfactory, and the overall management of patient care appears inadequate. I experienced significant delays in obtaining routine repeat medications, requiring multiple follow-ups over several days. Given the resources available to general practices, I would expect a higher standard of service delivery. I am actively seeking alternative healthcare provision as I do not feel my needs are being met here. The situation has been frustrating enough that I felt compelled to contact an alternative NHS service for assistance with a matter that should have been resolved at practice level. I am considering escalating my concerns through formal complaint channels.

Phone staff gatekeeping appointments without seeing patients

This practice operates across two locations and appears to prioritise one site over the other significantly. Patients at the secondary location find that their hospital records are directed elsewhere and seem difficult to retrieve. The secondary location is currently not operational, leaving those patients without local access to services. When a family member recently called to request an appointment, the receptionist made a clinical recommendation without having assessed the patient, which seemed inappropriate given their role. Available appointments are only at the main location, requiring travel across town. During the call, the receptionist then insisted on an online form submission without discussing whether this method was suitable or asking about the patient's preference. There appeared to be no consideration for patients who cannot easily travel to the main site or who may struggle with digital forms. The practice does not seem to prioritise the needs of patients who require flexibility or support with access methods. The practice is currently listed as accepting new patients on the NHS website, which seems contradictory given the apparent difficulties in providing adequate care to existing patients at the secondary location. It would seem more transparent to acknowledge capacity constraints rather than continue recruiting new patients while struggling to serve those already registered, particularly those reliant on the currently closed secondary site.

Staff dismissive when helping with online booking process

I found the staff interaction to be quite disappointing. When I called to arrange an appointment for my unwell young child, I experienced a lengthy wait in a queue of multiple calls, which I understood was unavoidable. After approximately 40 minutes, a member of staff answered and asked about the reason for my call. I explained I needed to book an appointment for my child. They suggested I use the online booking system. I mentioned that while I normally book appointments online for myself, I was uncertain about the process for booking on behalf of my child and asked if they could assist me. Their response was to suggest that if I could manage online shopping, I should be able to navigate the appointment booking system. I raised a concern about whether this same response would be given to an elderly person who might struggle with online platforms. They indicated that elderly patients would receive help in such circumstances. This response felt inconsistent and left me feeling that the support offered varied depending on the individual. I found it somewhat contradictory that the practice emphasises a zero-tolerance approach to abuse towards staff during calls, yet the interaction I experienced felt dismissive and unhelpful. The overall experience has reinforced some of the concerns I've read in other feedback about the practice, and I was disappointed by the manner in which my request for assistance was handled.

Impossible to reach a doctor by phone

The appointment booking experience has been quite frustrating. The process of trying to secure a consultation felt problematic, with significant queuing delays and a dropped call during the process. After reconnecting, the queue position had increased substantially. This situation felt unacceptable and concerning, particularly given my age and the fact that I ultimately had to see an alternative healthcare professional due to doctor availability constraints. Changes to the system would be beneficial.

Badly spoken to

The appointment was 20 minutes late. Whilst waiting I was in the main reception and not a further, unsigned reception area and I was worried being hard of hearing that I’d missed my name being called. The receptionist didn’t seem to understand or check. I sat and waited some more and people were being seen ahead of me. A doctor left a room and looked directly at me as if to say what do you want? I explained and she said just to sit. After more minutes passed the same doctor approached me and give me the what do you want look so I said ‘I’m still waiting’ as something to say, not nastily or threateningly. She replied ‘Well you can always go to BRI and wait 12 hours’. I was floored and recognising she was a senior partner GP I didn’t counter and apologised to her! Patients don’t deserve to be spoken to so rudely.

Incompetent medical care destroying patient trust

The service is abysmal. Repeatedly, they've arbitrarily discontinued my prescriptions without warning, including my statin medication, claiming a review was necessary but failing to even conduct a cholesterol test. During the previous consultation about removing my long-term back medication, a nurse scheduled the appointment and was overly aggressive in criticizing my efforts, despite my complete life transformation - retraining professionally, adopting a new lifestyle, and maintaining daily exercise routines. Absolutely deplorable. This medical practice is fundamentally broken! According to the recent Telegraph & Argus local review, they ranked as the most substandard surgery in Bradford.

Terrible communication and lack of medical support

After my operation, I've been unable to communicate with medical professionals regarding my infection through the 111 service. I've been prescribed antibiotics but have now developed a secondary infection, and once again, I couldn't connect with any doctors. When 111 was contacted, they sent a message to my medical practice. My mother and I waited for a callback at 3:10, but no call came through. Upon speaking with the receptionist, I was told a doctor attempted to contact me, which I know is false after carefully checking my phone log, which was turned up loud. The 111 service has recommended I file a formal complaint, which I now intend to do. I'm not someone who typically criticizes medical staff or becomes confrontational, but the ongoing stress of my unaddressed healthcare needs, particularly with a secondary infection, has left me feeling I have no alternative but to formally document my concerns about the inadequate care I've received.

Efficient and friendly medical service made easy

I got a message suggesting I schedule a medication consultation with a nursing professional. I called the medical center and was third in line at 11:45, but was connected surprisingly quickly within a mere 10 minutes. The receptionist was exceptionally supportive and efficiently processed my request without any complications. Although my appointment is set for a month from now, I'm completely satisfied since it's not an urgent matter. I appreciate the smooth service and want to acknowledge their helpfulness. Much appreciation.

Terrible service and unresponsive medical staff nightmare

Absolute worst medical practice. Attempting to schedule an appointment was completely futile. Despite persistent calling for over 90 minutes, not a single staff member picked up the phone. To make matters worse, during a routine health check visit, I observed only one nurse and a single patient, yet they claim to be overwhelmingly busy. I cannot comprehend their supposed workload. Anyone seeking medical care should steer clear of this surgery.

Disappointing decline from once great medical practice

After being a patient at this medical practice for more than two decades, I once considered it top-notch, but now it has dramatically declined in quality. Today, I experienced their poor service firsthand when I called and found myself third in line, not even fifty deep. Instead of addressing my concerns promptly, they suggested I call back tomorrow, which is completely unacceptable. The doctor promised to ring me back this afternoon, but their communication and responsiveness have deteriorated significantly from the excellent standard they once maintained.

Worst medical experience ever terrible staff and service

If a zero-star rating existed, I'd absolutely assign it to this medical practice! The staff and receptionists display abysmal attitudes and completely lack patient interaction skills. Despite an automated message warning about abuse, the staff ironically treat patients (who are already unwell) with zero respect. They consistently ignore incoming phone calls, forcing me to physically visit the surgery to obtain my test results. Upon arrival, I found an empty facility with no patients or personnel anywhere. "Negligent" is perhaps the most charitable description I can muster for this establishment, and if given the choice, I would unquestionably avoid this surgery, as they demonstrably show no concern whatsoever for patient care.
