Appointment access remains the most significant challenge reported across feedback, with patients consistently describing lengthy phone queues, difficulty securing consultations, and limited availability despite repeated attempts to book. Communication barriers extend beyond appointment scheduling to include delayed follow-up contact, unresponsive phone lines, and reception staff who are frequently described as unhelpful or discourteous, creating friction at the first point of contact. While some patients have experienced compassionate nursing care and efficient prescription handling in isolated instances, these positive interactions stand in sharp contrast to widespread concerns about rushed consultations, lack of continuity when seeing different practitioners, and delayed clinical responsiveness to patient needs.
Prescription management and clinical follow-up present recurring problems, with patients reporting unexplained medication discontinuations, delayed repeat prescriptions, and inadequate communication about medication changes or required reviews. Reception staff have been noted making clinical recommendations without proper patient assessment, raising concerns about appropriate gatekeeping. Several patients describe feeling unheard during consultations or experiencing dismissive attitudes when raising health concerns.
A small number of recent reviews acknowledge positive experiences with specific staff members and efficient service delivery, suggesting that improvements are possible. However, the overall pattern indicates systemic issues with appointment availability, booking processes, phone communication, and reception experience that require substantial operational changes to meet patient expectations and ensure timely access to care.

Poor!
Terrible customer service from a rude receptionist
I reached out with a straightforward inquiry, seeking guidance on a matter I was uncertain about. Unfortunately, the receptionist responded with an unexpectedly hostile attitude, speaking to me in an abrasive manner despite my consistently courteous demeanor. Her unnecessarily sharp tone caught me completely off guard, and I was taken aback by her unprofessional approach. It makes me wonder if this kind of discourteous treatment is standard practice for this organization.

Excellent!
Swift and life-saving medical response team
Despite being registered at the Allerton Health Centre, I recently had an exceptional experience at the Clayton centre. At 8:10 am, I called and explained that two rounds of antibiotics had been ineffective in treating my condition. I was promptly offered an appointment that same morning. The Advanced Practitioner examined me and indicated she would contact the BRI. As requested, I visited the BRI the next morning. I underwent a surgical procedure under general anaesthesia that day and was discharged at 5 pm after a recovery period. This experience absolutely merits a 5-star rating, not just for the Health Centre but also for the BRI. It appears that the feedback system is predominantly viewed as a platform for complaints, with positive experiences rarely being documented. This approach fails to provide a comprehensive and balanced representation of patient experiences. David Oldham.

Dvla test nightmare with unhelpful and impatient doctor
I arrived for a DVLA appointment, following the letter's instruction to avoid fluids for 2 hours before the urine test. However, Dr. Suleyman immediately requested the sample, and when I asked for water, he curtly responded that he doesn't work afternoons and needs to leave soon. His rushed attitude heightened my anxiety, making it incredibly difficult to urinate under such pressure. Even while in the bathroom, he suggested rescheduling for next week, which wasn't an option as DVLA would revoke my license. Desperate, I drank tap water and managed to provide a sample within his strict time limit. To anyone else facing a urine test, I strongly advise drinking plenty of water beforehand, or you risk being sent home if you can't produce a sample quickly. Dr. Suleyman was an absolutely terrible healthcare professional, demonstrating zero patience or compassion.

Unprofessional doctor with poor communication skills
I received a phone consultation with DR. ASIM SULEMAN. During the call, after initially describing my situation, I was asked to detail my symptoms. I carefully explained my symptoms, but the doctor repeatedly circled back to the same questions. I must have responded to the identical inquiry around 5 times. When I politely mentioned that I had already described my symptoms, the DR. responded by saying 'NO NEED FOR BEING RUDE'. I clarified that I was not being rude and had answered as courteously as possible. When I attempted to add another point, he abruptly and rudely said 'NO'. Subsequently, he terminated the call without warning. This experience clearly demonstrates why this healthcare practice is considered among the ten worst in terms of patient care and professional conduct.

Bad!
Terrible service and impossible to get appointments
I signed up with this medical practice over 10 months ago. I've attempted to schedule appointments for my children and myself multiple times, always ensuring I call precisely at 8:00am, yet I've never been successful in securing a single consultation. The staff consistently claim either there are no available slots or direct me to contact 111. My interactions with this practice have been consistently disappointing and frustrating.

Amazing service from a helpful administrator
I had a pleasant interaction with a kind administrative staff member, whose name I believe was Kiya or something close to that. I shared my concerns, and although she initially mentioned that all appointments were fully scheduled, she later contacted me to inform me of a cancellation. Subsequently, a GP reached out to me. I'm truly grateful and would appreciate it if you could convey my thanks to her for her compassionate approach.

Terrible advice from receptionist endangered my grandson
My young grandson was suffering from a fever and throat pain, unable to consume any solid food and solely drinking water for three consecutive days. Following advice from a pediatric consultant, I contacted the surgery, only to have the receptionist dismiss the need for a GP consultation. They suggested obtaining over-the-counter medication from a pharmacy, which cost me £16.00 - though the expense wasn't my primary concern. When his condition deteriorated, we brought him to the A&E at BRI. The doctor inquired whether he had been examined by our GP, and we explained the receptionist's previous guidance. It was ultimately discovered that he had a viral throat infection.

Terrible medical practice with zero patient care
Genuinely convinced this medical practice is operated by sadists who display zero empathy, from the receptionists to the nursing staff - and the doctors are practically invisible. Booking an appointment requires a military-precision phone assault at precisely 8.00am for the following week's slot, with a brutal 10-minute window to successfully connect before being forced to retry the next day. When you finally secure an appointment, you'll endure a rushed 10-minute consultation after waiting beyond your scheduled time. Recurring medical issues mean you'll encounter a completely different healthcare professional each visit, ensuring no continuity of care or familiarity with your condition. Despite seemingly having around 12 consultation rooms, the waiting area remains bizarrely empty, even when serving multiple local communities. The surgery inexplicably operates as though overwhelmed, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Recently, I booked a 111 appointment for Monday at 11.15pm, confirmed by text, requiring an unpaid half-day from work. At 8.00am, I received a text seemingly changing the appointment time to 11.40am. Arriving as planned, I discovered not just a time change, but an entirely different appointment date. The receptionist informed me of this after my original work start time, preventing me from reclaiming my half-day. The short notice made securing additional time off impossible, effectively rendering my original scheduling efforts futile. Adding insult to injury, they subsequently sent a message criticizing my apparent non-attendance. The NHS's incompetence reinforces my belief that privatized healthcare competition would dramatically improve our medical services, free from governmental bureaucratic interference.

Terrible service and complete waste of time
My prior interactions with this organization through professional channels were incredibly frustrating, and as someone whose partner is a patient, I am continuously astounded by their remarkably unhelpful, inefficient, and fundamentally useless approach, which stands in stark contrast to the high-quality service provided by my medical practitioners.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service
Getting an appointment here is impossible, and the entire experience is utterly pointless. I'd give zero stars if I could. The doctors seem completely clueless and unable to provide any meaningful assistance. The reception staff are unprofessional, disinterested, and clearly hate their jobs. This place is an absolute disaster that I strongly advise everyone to avoid at all costs.

Yvonne saves the day with exceptional service
I want to express my gratitude to Yvonne for her help today with my pharmacy transfer. As always, she is absolutely fantastic. Whenever she picks up the phone, I instantly feel reassured that she'll be able to assist me. Thank you so much.

Poor!
Frustrating healthcare system with poor patient communication
The medical practice follows typical protocols, but their morning appointment scheduling at 8am is impractical. There's no online booking option, and booking future appointments is challenging. When attempting to contact the office during business hours about prescriptions or other matters, patients can expect to be on hold for a frustratingly long 15-20 minutes.

Fantastic nurse and friendly staff made my day
I met with an incredibly compassionate nurse (I think she was called Emma) who was exceptional and truly helped me feel relaxed. As anticipated, the phone lines are congested in the early hours, but during the day, it's easy to connect, and the front desk staff are consistently friendly and courteous!

Terrible medical practice with unprofessional staff
THE ABSOLUTE WORST GENERAL PRACTICE. Abandoning this medical practice is the most intelligent choice you could make. The staff are incredibly discourteous and completely lacking in basic interpersonal skills. Their professional incompetence is staggering. I was verbally attacked during a phone call simply for requesting a medical record that hadn't even been properly maintained, and they had the audacity to attempt shifting blame onto me for their own professional negligence. Total chaos.

Terrible health service with zero patient care
I've experienced the absolute worst customer service from this medical practice imaginable. I called in the morning and endured a 45-minute wait, only to be told a doctor would contact me around 12:30, but the call didn't actually come through until 4:09 - a significant deviation from the promised time. When I called back, the receptionist claimed I should wait until tomorrow because the doctor had supposedly attempted to reach me multiple times. However, my phone log showed just a single missed call, which the receptionist adamantly insisted was incorrect. Even more frustrating, throughout all these interactions, not a single staff member bothered to inquire about my medical condition or symptoms. During my confrontation with the receptionist about my urgent need for blood tests - due to experiencing 3-5 minute blackout episodes - she casually suggested I either call back tomorrow or wait for a Monday evening callback. Her response was completely inadequate. I cannot emphasize enough how terrible this experience was. To anyone seeking medical care, I strongly advise avoiding Hollyns Health & Wellbeing. Based on today's interaction and nearly two years of previous negligence where they failed to diagnose a prior health issue, they seem to neglect as many patients as they assist.

Terrible medical care at hollyns health clayton
Hollyns health Clayton is undoubtedly the most terrible medical practice I have ever encountered. The front desk employees demonstrate a complete lack of compassion and appear woefully unprepared for their roles. I witnessed a distressing interaction where a patient with an ear tumor was attempting to secure a medical appointment, only to be coldly told by the receptionist, "If you're dissatisfied with our service, you can always go elsewhere." Fortunately, I will soon be leaving Clayton and can change my healthcare provider. The situation is particularly dire for diabetic patients like myself, as their standard of procedural care is essentially non-existent. I strongly advise anyone with alternative options to avoid this facility at all costs. What makes this situation even more infuriating is that the staff seem fully aware of their inadequacies but display a shocking indifference to improving their service.

Endless waiting room nightmare at local surgery
I had a pre-scheduled consultation at the medical practice. Despite having an appointment, I was forced to wait 40 minutes before seeing a physician. The prolonged waiting time was unacceptable, and other patients were visibly annoyed and irritated by the delay. The service was absolutely appalling, and this clinic urgently needs to implement significant improvements. They can no longer use the pandemic as a justification for their poor performance. Given the volume of complaints they likely receive, I'm astonished they haven't faced more serious consequences.
