New patient turned away despite arriving late for appointment

As a new patient, I have found the practice to be quite unwelcoming, with staff providing inaccurate guidance. I was told that the surgery is primarily for acute illness when I attended for a routine medication consultation. Due to adverse weather conditions, I arrived late for my appointment and was initially declined a consultation, despite observing that other patients were being seen. I was eventually seen, though I felt this was handled unfairly and proved unproductive. During the appointment, although my medications were available for review, the focus seemed to be on pronunciation rather than addressing the concerns I had come to discuss. I was subsequently advised to seek care at a practice closer to my residence, with the suggestion that the surgery struggles to support patients with certain health needs. When attempting to contact the practice by telephone, I consistently encounter messages indicating they are extremely busy. Overall, my impression is that the practice may not be actively accepting new patients.

Receptionists who actually smile and help you out

What an outstanding experience. This practice is truly exceptional. The reception team members are delightful, warm and attentive, and they greet you with genuine smiles. Their telephone manner is equally pleasant and supportive. I was able to secure an appointment the same day and was seen by a healthcare professional who was absolutely wonderful – caring, compassionate and personable. She went above and beyond by recognising an opportunity to fit me in for blood tests immediately, even checking with another patient to see if this was possible, and that patient graciously accommodated this. Everything was completed efficiently and smoothly. This is an exemplary practice with genuinely caring staff members. It represents exactly what you hope to find in a general practice setting. I would award more than five stars if the system allowed it. My sincere thanks to everyone involved.

Consultation room walls need better soundproofing

The consultation room has inadequate soundproofing, as conversations can be easily heard from the adjacent waiting area. The seating in the waiting room is positioned very close to the consultation space.

Over the past couple of years, I have found that the clinical staff members are consistently kind, caring and supportive, while the nursing team demonstrates professionalism alongside a compassionate approach and willingness to spend time with patients. The poorest healthcare experience I have encountered. The reception team displayed discourteous behaviour, and scheduled telephone consultations did not materialise as expected - fortunate that my situation was not more serious. Disappointing establishment.

Telephone appointments not called as scheduled

On two separate occasions, I scheduled telephone consultations for my husband, but neither time did the practice make contact as arranged. This is quite unsatisfactory and patients should not need to repeatedly follow up to ensure their appointments take place.
