Feedback reveals a practice facing significant operational challenges that substantially impact patient experience. The most persistent concern centres on appointment access, with patients reporting extreme difficulty reaching the practice by phone, prolonged waiting times on hold, frequent disconnections, and rapid exhaustion of available slots each day. This has been compounded since a recent merger of two practices. Communication barriers extend to prescription management, with multiple reports of delayed processing and poor responsiveness to patient requests. Reception experience varies considerably, with some patients describing courteous and supportive interactions, whilst others report discourteous behaviour and unprofessional communication.
Despite these systemic challenges, clinical staff consistently receive positive recognition. Patients praise the medical professionals, nursing team, and some reception staff for being skilled, compassionate, and genuinely committed to care. Several reviews highlight efficient prescription management and responsive nursing support when contact is successfully established. A small number of patients report recent improvements in appointment availability and care quality.
The gap between clinical quality and operational dysfunction is evident throughout the feedback. Patients acknowledge that dedicated healthcare workers are undermined by poor telephone infrastructure, ineffective booking systems, and organisational issues stemming from the practice merger. Many express frustration that accessing care has become unnecessarily difficult despite the competence of the clinical team itself.

Excellent!
Exceptional healthcare with compassion and dedication
The medical professionals and administrative team at this practice are truly exceptional. I transferred here from Ambrose, knowing that the top-tier staff had established this surgery. As both a patient and a professional collaborating with them in CAMHS, I can confidently attest to their excellence. The receptionists are compassionate and go to great lengths to ensure patients receive timely care. One GP even offered to wait three hours to see my daughter, who was delayed due to train cancellations. The level of care I have experienced here surpasses any medical practice I have ever encountered.

Bad!
Worst customer service ever experienced in my life
The front desk personnel display an appalling level of discourtesy. They consistently exude an air of superiority and speak with a patronizing tone to everyone. Even when posing a simple inquiry about information clearly documented right in front of them, you're met with eye-rolling and exasperated sighs, as if you're making an unreasonable demand. It's absolutely reprehensible. These individuals are completely devoid of interpersonal skills, which is inexcusable in a customer-facing position.

Frustrating healthcare system fails patients completely
The standard protocol is to visit Urgent Care Center in Colchester or dial 111. Advance booking is impossible, and patients are simply instructed to call at 8 am, only to be told no appointments are available, forcing them to call again the next day - a frustrating cycle that continues for five days until ultimately resorting to urgent care. The system is completely inadequate, especially when a parent with a 4-year-old child cannot secure a GP appointment without a four-week waiting period.

Bad!
Terrible service and zero support from operations manager
I'd give zero rating to the Operations Manager based on my recent encounter. While the doctors and nursing staff might be competent, their accessibility was completely obstructed. I was consistently thwarted by bureaucratic barriers. The total indifference to my medical requirements following an overseas injury is shocking. I'm set to return home tomorrow with absolutely no medication arrangements in place. No pre-scheduled follow-up appointment - just a dismissive "call on the day" instruction. The complete absence of coordinated care is utterly disgraceful.

Worst pharmacy experience ever terrible service
If only I could give zero stars, that would be even better. Not only is the receptionist rude, but she seems past her prime and should have retired long ago. The manager is completely clueless - I requested a prescription repeat nearly a week ago, and it still hasn't been processed. She casually mentioned it was "virtually done" today and had the audacity to suggest I download NHS apps for repeat prescriptions, claiming written prescriptions sometimes get missed. How reassuring! She insists everything is running smoothly but can't explain why this delay happened, and it's not the first time. I think this is a case of blind leading the blind - absolutely zero competence and utterly useless. They should seriously consider shutting down the entire surgery. When I mentioned needing to contact my doctor, she simply forwarded an order number in case the pharmacy doesn't have the items, even though the request went in almost a week ago. It's an absolute joke. They desperately need a comprehensive review of this surgery, and preferably, they should just close it down.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service
If I could award zero rating, I absolutely would!! Shockingly substandard patient treatment. Amanda at reception demonstrated complete lack of professionalism, displaying rudeness and zero compassion towards patient requirements. My attempt to schedule an in-person consultation this morning was met with dismissal, being instructed to contact 111 for triage. Upon detailing the critical nature and potential risks associated with my situation, I was merely offered a telephone consultation for next Friday. Following the merger with the health centre and subsequent staff changes, this medical practice has steadily deteriorated in its approach to patient care. Urgently requires thorough examination by the Care Quality Commission

Excellent!
Compassionate care that exceeds expectations for seniors
At last, a commendable standard of medical attention. My aging parents can now obtain in-person consultations either immediately or the next day. Dr Gill has been exceptional in treating them. The quality of care they've experienced during recent weeks is truly something that should have happened much sooner. Continue maintaining this excellent approach!

Quick and exceptional medical care
Incredible. Immediate appointment availability if you call at the right moment. How many medical practices provide such swift service? Beyond 5-star quality, completely satisfied.

Frustrating wait but swift medical response
Called to schedule a consultation and was put on hold for nearly three-quarters of an hour! However, received a callback post-lunch, shared images with the nurse practitioner, got a hospital referral, and underwent a biopsy within a fortnight.

Nightmarish healthcare system with endless appointment struggles
Absolutely dreadful healthcare setup: attempting to secure a doctor's appointment feels like an endless ordeal. The system forces you to repeatedly call at specific times—8am or 1pm—and if slots are already taken, you're left waiting and trying again the next day, with no guarantee of success. You can't even obtain a referral for private medical care. It's essentially equivalent to having no medical support whatsoever. Incredibly aggravating and deeply disappointing.

Great!
Compassionate care at its medical best
Visited my doctor today, who was truly a courteous and skilled professional. The phlebotomist drawing my blood was equally pleasant and kind. I noticed the receptionist handling a difficult patient with remarkable patience and composure. These are challenging times for everyone, and it's important to remember that healthcare staff are doing their utmost to provide care and support under trying circumstances.

Impossible medical booking system frustrates hardworking patient
My wife has been struggling to secure a medical appointment for weeks, constantly being informed that she must call precisely at 8am daily. The catch? If she can't make that exact time, tough luck. Despite being a key worker who's employed from 7:30 to 6, she's been unable to book an appointment after two weeks of attempts. I'm genuinely curious how anyone working standard hours is supposed to navigate this system - are these appointments exclusively designed for retirees or those without jobs? I'd love to hear a reasonable explanation, but I won't hold my breath.

Bad!
Terrible medical service with zero care or compassion
No sense of responsibility, if you raise a concern they will dismiss it claiming they're "unable to cope", demonstrating a complete lack of understanding when addressing sensitive issues. The physician who was meant to contact me after two weeks never did so...!! Incapable of following basic blood test protocols, they interact with patients unprofessionally, and when challenged about their approach, they label you as rude...!! They consistently disregard patients' anxieties and fears, and when asked to clarify something, they escalate their tone, talk over you, and abruptly end the conversation. This practice has consistently demonstrated profound unprofessionalism over recent years. Many original staff members have departed due to the way management has transformed the practice. They operate another facility across the street, and numerous times patients, including my late husband and myself, have been redirected only to discover the doctor or nurse is absent. Ultimately, your appointment is now cancelled

Worst healthcare experience of my life ever
Truly, this medical practice is an absolute nightmare, and if the rating system allowed it, I'd give them zero stars. During my consultation, I discussed my mental health and learning disability concerns with a physician, who essentially suggested I just need to exert more effort. The appointment was so distressing that I was in tears throughout my entire journey home, ultimately leading me to switch healthcare providers.

Worst medical experience ever terrible service
I can't imagine how this surgical practice could be more frustrating. It's absolutely hopeless trying to schedule any appointments, with patients being instructed to call at 8am and encountering endless busy signals while competing with thousands of other callers. This situation desperately requires investigation by the health authorities.

Terrible customer service and no medical help
Impossible to reach anyone by phone for more than seven days, and when I finally do connect, there are zero available appointment slots. I've been suffering from an ear infection for weeks, and this entire situation is completely ridiculous.

Frustrating healthcare nightmare leaves patient without medication
I'm incredibly frustrated with the current situation regarding my mother's monthly medication. She's been without her necessary prescription for several days now. After a prolonged delay, she finally received a callback from her physician, who was unhelpful and claimed complete ignorance about her prescription status. At this point, I'm completely at a loss about how to proceed and obtain her critical medication.
