Reception staff seemed dismissive about appointment availability

I have found this medical centre to be disappointing throughout my experience. The clinical staff appear inattentive during consultations and seem distracted by their devices. The reception team ask what I consider to be excessive personal questions during check-in, and there appears to be a lack of urgency in scheduling appointments, with waits extending several weeks. Despite living very close to the practice, I was referred to a facility significantly further away for assessment of a significant injury. When I made the journey for an appointment, I discovered the booking had not been arranged correctly. I felt frustrated by the overall standard of care and coordination provided by the NHS service.

Reception wouldn't listen to my concerns

I feel extremely dissatisfied with my experience at this practice. I believe the clinical team does not adequately listen to patient concerns or preferences. Regarding my mental health medication management, I felt that my input was not valued and that decisions were made without sufficient consideration of my perspective. I experienced this as frustrating, as I felt I had limited opportunity to discuss my preferences about my treatment plan, despite having valid concerns about the proposed changes to my care.

Ignored calls when desperately unwell and struggling

A distressing experience during a period of serious illness. As a long-term patient of the practice, I found the initial response inadequate when I needed support while speaking with a social worker. I was forced to attend in person the following day despite being unwell with a high temperature, and was so poorly that I could barely remain upright. During the appointment, I felt the questioning about my attendance was delivered in an aggressive manner, and given my confused state and difficulty communicating, this added to my distress. I was grateful for the compassionate intervention of a junior clinician, whose support made a significant difference during what was an extremely difficult appointment.

This is a brilliant practice and I have nothing but praise for the clinical staff, who are fantastic. The nursing team are amazing and all very capable. The reception staff are always friendly and very helpful, and I don't know why there are negative reviews about this surgery.

I am so grateful to the clinical team and staff for the advice and help I received during my recent visit. I would certainly give them more than 5 stars if I could. We all hear negative things about the medical industry, however I wanted to say that this practice provides excellent care and I can't thank them enough. Reception unhelpful when medication error occurred

The clinical staff at the practice are excellent, however the reception team could be more helpful. After discovering that my repeat medication had been processed incorrectly at the surgery, leaving me without my medication, I contacted them to report the issue. I was informed that repeat prescriptions typically take 72 hours to process. I explained that I had run out of medication due to an error in how my repeat had been handled, as I had only received half of my usual amount. Despite this explanation, after waiting 24 hours I still had not received a replacement prescription. It seems reasonable that when a prescription error occurs at the practice, a new prescription should be issued the same day rather than following standard timescales. Being left without medication is concerning, and I can understand why patients become frustrated in these situations. It would be beneficial if there were a clear procedure in place to ensure patients are not left without their medication, particularly when the issue has arisen from an error within the surgery itself.

Practice cancelled appointment despite late notice call

I called ahead to inform the practice that I would be delayed due to transportation difficulties, having spent considerable time attempting to arrange alternative travel before my scheduled appointment. I was assured this would not be a problem. However, after paying a significant amount for transport to attend, I was informed that I would not be seen. I was extremely disappointed by this outcome.

Reception staff showed no empathy whatsoever

The experience was extremely disappointing, with minimal assistance provided at reception and a lack of understanding shown. I was left dealing with an open wound and felt repeatedly directed toward urgent care services rather than receiving support at the practice.

Quick appointment after morning phone call

Called early in the morning and was able to secure an in-person appointment with a clinician later that day. The health matter was addressed appropriately and is being managed. The reception team were extremely accommodating and supportive throughout the process.

We experience difficulty reaching the practice by phone. It appears that calls are being disconnected rather than being placed in a queue system, which means the same individuals need to attempt calling multiple times to get through.

Repeatedly promised callbacks that never happened

I would give this practice fewer stars if the system allowed it. I have repeatedly been let down by promises of callbacks that never materialise. When I follow up by calling back, I am told there are no notes on file or that there are difficulties retrieving my records. This has been a frustrating experience.

Phone queues stretch half an hour every morning

This GP practice has not met my expectations to the point where I felt compelled to seek care elsewhere. Contacting the surgery during peak hours typically involves extended wait times of 30 to 40 minutes before reaching someone, accompanied by a lengthy automated message. Once connected, the standard response relates to high demand at the practice. I have found interactions with the clinical staff to be unhelpful and feel I have been dismissed on numerous occasions. As someone managing both mental health concerns and a significant health condition, I often felt my concerns were treated as burdensome rather than valid. My experience included feeling spoken down to and undervalued during consultations. The practice did not provide the attentive, supportive approach I was seeking, which ultimately led me to transfer my care to another surgery. I would recommend considering alternative options if you prioritise responsive and compassionate healthcare.
