Patient feedback reveals a mixed experience at this practice, with particular strengths in clinical care but significant challenges in administrative and reception services. Medical staff, including several physicians, receive consistent praise for their clinical competence, compassion, and responsiveness. However, reception experience emerges as a persistent concern, with multiple patients reporting discourteous interactions, dismissive attitudes, and unhelpful responses to inquiries. Patients frequently describe difficulty contacting the practice, with engaged phone lines and calls being disconnected after extended waits.
Appointment access and waiting experiences present ongoing frustration. Several patients report lengthy waits for appointments, ranging from three weeks to over a month, alongside substantial waiting times in reception areas before being seen. Administrative inefficiencies are widely documented, including failures to arrange follow-up appointments and referrals, missed telephone consultations, and problems with booking systems. Patients describe having to make multiple follow-up calls to resolve basic administrative tasks and coordinate their own care.
Continuity of care and communication gaps also feature prominently in feedback. Some patients report unexpected removal from patient lists and lack of support during transitions, whilst others highlight issues with prescription systems and referral tracking. Despite these systemic challenges, long-term patients and those who have experienced urgent care often express appreciation for the practice's clinical dedication and supportive environment, suggesting that service quality varies significantly depending on the type of interaction and individual staff members involved.

Frustrating healthcare experience with poor patient communication
Careless personnel who misplace crucial medical documents, fail to track referrals, and cause significant waiting periods. Patients are forced to persistently make follow-up calls and essentially coordinate their own healthcare because the staff lacks basic communication and tracking protocols.

Great service for parent and child needs
I appreciate this service, with no problems for myself or my child. The staff consistently demonstrate courtesy whenever I contact them. They are supportive and maintain a professional demeanor.

Compassionate care through challenging pandemic times
The medical professionals at Kingswood demonstrate remarkable commitment and compassion. It's evident that the recent global health crisis has left its mark. Consequently, the practice's operations have shifted from pre-pandemic norms, which is understandable and unavoidable. Securing an appointment has become more challenging compared to previously, and the waiting times can be trying for those with work commitments. However, in genuine urgent situations, the staff makes every effort to provide prompt care and arrange a quick consultation. After reviewing other feedback, it appears some individuals mistakenly expect an immediate return to previous conditions. They fail to recognize that healthcare systems cannot instantly bounce back to their original state following such a significant disruption.

Frustrating missed call with no follow-up support
I recently encountered a notice on the practice's website about missed telephone consultations, which resonated with my personal encounter. I had pre-scheduled a telephone appointment, and when the doctor finally called, it was 15 minutes late. By the time I reached my phone, the call had already terminated. No callback number was provided, and after waiting 15-20 minutes to reach reception, I was told the doctor was occupied with another patient during my designated time slot. Remarkably, the doctor never attempted to reconnect with me that day. Perhaps the practice should reflect on their internal processes rather than automatically criticizing patients for missed telephone appointments. Insufficient staffing or excessive workload (which they themselves contribute to) cannot justify such poor service, as this fundamentally relates to organizational culture and mindset. For the NHS to remain effective, there must be a significant shift in how they approach patient communication and professional accountability.

Compassionate care from a trusted family physician
I've been a patient at this medical practice alongside my grandmother, who was treated here until her passing in 2007. For more than two decades, I've been seeing the same doctor and receiving care at this surgery. I'm genuinely concerned about the potential impact if Dr. Bowes decides to retire early, as he is an exceptional and highly skilled physician.

Caring doctors with mostly friendly reception staff
Dr. Bowes consistently provides top-notch care, and the staff is consistently courteous. The reception team has always been professional, with just one minor instance of less-than-ideal service.

Terrible reception team destroys patient care experience
The reception staff at this practice are absolutely appalling, displaying the most dismissive and demeaning attitude I've ever encountered. They routinely brush off patient concerns, claiming issues are "not serious enough" and citing doctors being "on holiday" as if it's standard procedure. Their habit of complaining about being understaffed directly to patients is both bizarre and completely unprofessional when someone is seeking medical guidance. After days of desperately trying to get advice about my medication, I've been left with no alternative but to continue taking it blindly, as the reception team deemed my concerns insignificant. Their rudeness is shocking - I was abruptly cut off mid-conversation, feeling unheard, and was reduced to tears by their complete lack of compassion, especially as a young patient seeking help. Not a single receptionist has shown an ounce of politeness, leaving me feeling abandoned and desperate. I'm now forced to seek expensive private medical consultation just to get basic guidance about my medication. Their treatment of patients is inexcusable, and I am thoroughly disappointed and disgusted by their complete disregard for patient care.

Lifesaving care that goes above and beyond expectations
I've been bringing my children to this medical practice for nearly a decade and a half. Understanding the challenges confronting the National Health Service, I truly appreciate that most interactions and consultations have been consistently supportive. Around six years ago, this practice was instrumental in preserving my life - words cannot adequately express my gratitude. While some local surgeries fall short, this particular clinic stands out as exceptional.

Disappointing service that failed me when needed most
They consistently demonstrated adequacy in pediatric care, but failed to provide support when my partner struggled with depression, which has since ended. They refused to evaluate my medical condition following a vehicular incident, prompting me to seek private treatment and make claims.

Poor!
Compassionate doctor, terrible staff and long waits
Dr Stone stands out as an exceptional general practitioner, but the rest of the practice falls short. The reception team is notably discourteous and creates unnecessary friction for patients. Their attitude significantly detracts from the overall medical experience. Scheduling an appointment requires a minimum three-week wait, and once you arrive, expect to spend 30-40 minutes languishing in the waiting room before being seen.

Terrible phone service ruins patient experience
Every single recent attempt to contact the surgical office has resulted in me being left waiting on hold for more than five minutes, only to have the call abruptly disconnected. This is incredibly frustrating.

Amazing care from exceptional medical professionals
I'm astounded that this medical practice receives any negative feedback. For half a decade, I've been a patient here. Every single physician is compassionate and exceptionally skilled. The front desk team might be swamped, but they're thoughtful and genuinely committed to helping patients. Dr. Bowes is absolutely exceptional, and I'm constantly worried he might decide to retire prematurely!

Disappointing service from longtime medical practice
After calling to schedule an appointment with Dr. Stone, a physician I've been seeing for nearly two decades, I was shocked to learn that I was no longer registered with her practice. It would have been considerate to inform me of this change, and I'm quite frustrated by the situation. To make matters worse, I was informed that the next available appointment would be in a month's time. Regardless of which doctor I see, I find such a lengthy wait completely unacceptable. While I would consider my condition urgent, I still require medical guidance. Moreover, the reception staff seemed dismissive and unhelpful, which I find entirely inappropriate. Their attitude and lack of assistance only added to my overall dissatisfaction with the practice.

Terrible service and unhelpful staff at kingswood surgery
Kingswood Surgery's customer service is absolutely terrible. Getting through to them is a nightmare, with constantly engaged phone lines or no response at all. During my first midwife appointment before Christmas, the midwife failed to provide crucial information about my initial hospital visit. I spent the last fortnight attempting to contact them, initially being told the midwife was on vacation, and then informed she had actually left the practice. Their receptionist was extremely unhelpful and dismissive, responding to inquiries with a curt "I don't know" and "I can't help". This isn't my first negative encounter with them. Two years ago, I consulted a doctor multiple times regarding my eczema, with zero improvement. When I requested a dermatology referral, the doctor sent me to another GP specializing in dermatology in a remote village. Throughout my experiences, I have never once felt that this surgery prioritizes patient care or demonstrates any genuine concern for their patients' needs!

Poor!
Frustrating primary care with basic operational fails
I recognize the challenges facing NHS staff and GPs, but my experience at Kingswood has been frustrating due to issues beyond personnel shortages. The problems stem from fundamental administrative inefficiencies. Take, for instance, my daughter's 6-week post-birth check: we were unable to register her and schedule an appointment simultaneously. Instead, we had to complete registration paperwork first before booking a consultation, despite both my wife and I already being registered patients. Without naming the specific physician, I've observed repeated oversights in arranging follow-up appointments and referrals. During the 6-week check-up, the doctor promised to schedule immunization shots but failed to do so, requiring us to call and confirm. Similarly, a paediatrician referral was neglected, and only after our persistent follow-up did we receive confirmation that referral letters would be sent. These are elementary administrative tasks that consistently fell through the cracks, with resolution only occurring after multiple reminders from us.

Terrible practice with deadly medical negligence
My general practitioner at this clinic was exceptional, and I hold her in the highest regard. Unfortunately, the reception staff are INCREDIBLY DISCOURTEOUS. They seemingly believe they possess superior medical expertise compared to the doctors. Most patients would prefer to discuss sensitive medical matters exclusively with their physician, yet I recall being intensely interrogated for additional details. Absolutely not. Moreover, this practice was responsible for negligence that tragically resulted in my father's death. During a critical mental health crisis, where a suicide attempt occurred, they abruptly removed me from their patient list simply because I moved a mere quarter-mile away. While I understand I was technically out of their designated area, their complete lack of sensitivity in abandoning me without ensuring continuous primary care or providing a GP for mental health team communication was appalling. They could have maintained my care until I was out of immediate danger, but instead showed zero flexibility, patient consideration, or compassion. This callous approach further deteriorated my mental state, and my mother nearly lost two family members due to this practice's horrific medical management. I'm typically hesitant to criticize NHS workers, but this surgery is absolutely dreadful. If the government insists on treating medical care like a business, something is fundamentally wrong when doctors adopt the same heartless approach.
