Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice with significant operational challenges alongside pockets of excellent clinical care. Appointment access remains the most persistent concern, with patients reporting lengthy waiting periods ranging from weeks to months, phone lines that are difficult to reach during morning booking windows, and frustration with the transition away from online booking systems. Reception experience is mixed, with some patients praising courteous and helpful staff, while others describe dismissive, discourteous, or unhelpful interactions. Communication gaps are evident, particularly around appointment policies, prescription reviews, and follow-up procedures, leaving patients uncertain about next steps.

When patients do access clinical care, many report genuinely positive experiences. Doctors are frequently described as compassionate, attentive, and professionally competent, with several patients expressing particular appreciation for specific practitioners. Nursing staff are similarly praised for their warmth and skill. However, these clinical strengths are substantially undermined by the access difficulties that precede them. Patients express frustration that reaching this quality of care requires persistence and often involves multiple failed attempts to book appointments.

The practice appears to be struggling with capacity and organisational efficiency rather than clinical competence. Issues include insufficient staffing, problematic booking systems, and inconsistent responsiveness to patient needs. While some patients remain loyal and satisfied, others have chosen to transfer their care elsewhere, citing the appointment access experience as the deciding factor despite acknowledging the quality of the doctors themselves.

Helpful receptionist saves the day for my daughter

Called earlier today to check on my daughter's prescription, and the online receptionist was initially unable to locate it. However, she took the initiative to investigate and resolved the issue, ensuring my daughter received her prescription before the weekend. I believe the helpful staff member's name was Louise.

Rude receptionist ruins patient experience at clinic

I'm convinced a specific front desk staff member requires training in professional communication!! Absolutely appalling. I'm switching to a different medical facility. Despite being slightly delayed due to traffic congestion, I was denied an appointment with the nurse for arriving just 4 minutes past my scheduled time! The previous week, I had already endured nearly a 60-minute wait to see a physician 😤

Painful months of misdiagnosis by negligent doctors

I've been battling a personal health concern for 9 months, visiting the doctors 4 times while enduring significant pain. On Monday, a compassionate nurse suggested I visit the sexual health clinic, which I did the next day. It was discovered that I've been suffering from thrush for 9 months - one of the most common women's health issues - yet no treatment was ever attempted. The sexual health clinic staff were shocked that no tests had been conducted to identify the problem. As a result, my condition has dramatically worsened, and I'm immensely grateful to the incredible staff at Kingsmill hospital who provided crucial support. I've never felt more disregarded by the doctors at this surgery, who seem solely focused on rushing patients out the door. I was even told I was being referred to gynaecology, but they never followed through, implying my 6 months of pain was imaginary. This persistent dismissal is unacceptable, and I have no intention of continuing with such an incompetent medical practice. While the reception staff and most nurses are genuinely trying their best, the doctors treat patients like an inconvenience. I strongly advise against choosing this surgery, especially for women, as you will likely experience complete neglect and inadequate care.

Compassionate care when i needed it most

I consider myself fortunate to receive care at K.C.P.C.C. Following years of tending to my Husband before his passing, I began experiencing numerous health challenges. The medical staff here have been compassionate and empathetic, never talking down to me, and always willing to hear my perspective and collaborate on my treatment. From the Doctors and Nurses to the Receptionists, I am grateful for their professional approach, genuine understanding, and comprehensive support that helps me manage my health conditions proactively. This practice truly enables me to live fully, not just survive. I wholeheartedly endorse their services. My sincere appreciation to the entire team.

Terrible healthcare app ruins patient experience completely

What used to be an exceptional healthcare provider has now become unbearable since they implemented this perpetually problematic app. This morning, I attempted to schedule a doctor's appointment due to a kidney infection while being immunocompromised, and was forcibly directed to use the app despite my resistance. When I expressed my reluctance, the staff member insisted she would handle the booking through the app, with the promise that a receptionist would contact me if the doctor deemed an in-person consultation necessary. The receptionist's interaction was so disrespectful that my partner was stunned by her unprofessional demeanor. The overall service and patient treatment are completely unacceptable.

Dismissed and frustrated with poor healthcare support

When I reached out to consult a general practitioner about persistent women's health concerns, I was utterly dismissed. Their approach seems to revolve around prescribing contraception as a catch-all solution, which not only failed to address my issues but actually exacerbated them significantly. I'm now left struggling to advocate for my own well-being. The proposed treatment feels inappropriate, especially given my family's documented allergy history, and I feel completely unheard regarding my chronic pain condition. No one appears to have a clear understanding of how to manage my symptoms. This prolonged medical uncertainty has been devastating, severely impacting my mental health, and I'm profoundly frustrated that this situation has dragged on for nearly seven months without resolution.

Inconsistent service ruins once-great medical practice

Downgraded from a perfect rating to the lowest possible. What was once the top medical practice in the area has now deteriorated into complete chaos, mirroring the broader national decline. When I rang at 8am to schedule an appointment for my young daughter, I found myself seventh in line, only to be informed after 20 minutes that no slots were available because they shut down midday on Wednesdays!! Their operational approach is utterly ridiculous, and they are fundamentally failing their patients. Clearly, they have long since abandoned any semblance of genuine patient care. Historically, securing appointments for myself and my children has been consistently straightforward. While I don't always see the same physician, that hasn't bothered me. I strategically opt to consult the nurse when her expertise suffices, and Carol has consistently been wonderfully kind and professional. Booking appointments has always been seamless, securing a slot has never been challenging, and my maximum waiting time has been around 20 minutes. Additionally, the reception staff have perpetually been welcoming and pleasant. I would unreservedly endorse this medical practice.

Terrible app ruins an otherwise excellent medical practice

The medical staff have consistently been excellent, but the newly implemented app-only appointment booking system is AWFUL. As someone in the tech industry, I can confidently say this is among the most poorly designed apps I've encountered. It completely lacks user-friendliness, shows no intuitive design, and is essentially 90% non-functional. I'm baffled by the decision to adopt this app when surely superior alternatives exist. I'm not opposed to technological solutions, but this particular option is abysmal. Adding insult to injury, attempting to book by phone now results in being made to feel like a misbehaving child for not using this fundamentally unusable app.

Caring staff but frustrating appointment system

The surgery initially seemed wonderful, with compassionate and supportive personnel. However, I've been struggling to secure an appointment for an extended period, constantly being told to "try again tomorrow." I've reached out to the practice manager requesting a callback, but regrettably, no communication has been forthcoming. Something appears to have shifted at this medical practice, and not in a positive direction. The general practitioners themselves are exceptional - if only accessing their care wasn't such a challenging ordeal.

Spent an hour on hold, only to be told they couldn't schedule an appointment for my severely sick 3-month-old, forcing me to go to the emergency room. It's completely ridiculous, though honestly, I wasn't surprised. I understand they're overwhelmed, but a critically ill infant should absolutely be prioritized for medical attention.

Dangerous doctor puts my diabetic son at risk

I would give zero stars if possible! My doctor recommended a cream for my son that could have been dangerous due to his type 1 diabetes. Thankfully, the pharmacist refused to sell it, explaining the potential serious health risks to my 5-year-old. When I contacted the medical practice to discuss this, the doctor called the pharmacist a liar and suggested I buy the cream from Tesco or Boots! After I challenged him, he actually checked Google and then admitted, 'oh, it does warn against use for diabetics.' Not a single apology or show of concern for a child with health challenges. As a result, I've transferred my entire family's care away from this practice. I filed a complaint weeks ago and received a response stating I should allow 40 working days to process it - absolutely unacceptable! The doctor demonstrates zero understanding of diabetes and shows no compassion or professional care for his patients, which is utterly disgraceful!

Helpful staff rescued my medical appointment today

On the 25th of September, I needed to address my medication requirements. I spoke with Louise and Miss Jackson regarding my thumb injections, and their level of assistance was exceptional. They noticed a doctor had an available slot and promptly scheduled me in. I find the staff and clinicians at KCPCC to be incredibly supportive and accommodating. While I acknowledge that reaching them at 8am is practically impossible, we must recognize this is the NHS, and they are working within their established protocols. It has taken me nearly a year just to consult with a specialist at Kingsmill, and I'm currently on a waiting list that seems endless before potentially having surgery. Despite the challenges, we ultimately receive the answers we seek. The key is to maintain patience and composure throughout the process.

Negligent receptionist puts elderly mother's health at risk

My elderly mother, aged 80, is completely out of her prescribed medications. She's informed the medical office staff that she's experiencing health complications after being without her drugs for four consecutive days. The receptionist displayed a shockingly indifferent attitude towards her situation. I'm deeply concerned and anxiously hoping my vulnerable mother doesn't suffer any serious health consequences while waiting for this staff member to improve their professionalism and responsiveness.
