Five years of excellent healthcare at the previous practice, followed by a brief ten-minute appointment at another location, and we have since moved to a different surgery. This really sums up our experience.

Reception staff made me feel unwelcome and dismissed

A family member experienced severe chest pain and associated symptoms which were attributed to anxiety during a consultation. Subsequently, this was found to be a blood clot in the lung. On another occasion, symptoms including nausea, headache and vomiting were similarly attributed to anxiety, when the underlying cause was later identified as a serious neurological condition. I felt that the clinical approach taken was not appropriate for the presentations described. During a recent visit to seek medical support, I experienced what I perceived as dismissive treatment. After three decades as a patient at this practice, I have decided to transfer my care elsewhere. I would have reservations about recommending this practice based on my recent experiences.

Reception turned me away during chest pain

Having recently relocated to the area and not yet established care with a medical practice, I experienced chest discomfort and attended this surgery for assistance. I was frightened and in considerable pain, yet the response felt dismissive and unhelpful. I was grateful that the hospital staff provided the care and attention I needed. I have since recovered well following my health event. The contrast in the level of compassion and support between the two settings was striking.
