Disappointed After 35 Years of Loyal Care

Completely dissatisfied! Our family has been associated with the Lavender Hill Group Practice since its early days, back when it was run by just four physicians, about 35 years ago. In those times, whenever we required medical attention, we could secure an appointment within 1-3 days. Now, we'd consider ourselves fortunate to get a doctor's slot within the next week! The underlying issue is clear: the doctors are accepting an excessive number of new patients, consequently neglecting their long-standing, older patients!

Previously, booking was straightforward through the NHS app, but they have discontinued this option. Currently, patients can only 'request' appointments during specific office hours. This approach seems to create an unwarranted obstacle for individuals seeking medical assistance, and I find it perplexing that a healthcare provider would implement such a restrictive system.

Fast Action for My Trapped Nerve

I want to convey my deepest appreciation and respect for the Physiotherapy team at the practice, particularly Mr Chris Cleaver, who has been instrumental in my treatment. To summarize, the trapped nerve affecting my L-4&5 vertebrae, which has significantly impacted my left leg and recently my left arm since October 2023, is being expertly managed by Chris Cleaver, following the proactive intervention of Dr Dana Khoriati. While my previous attitude towards physiotherapy was somewhat lukewarm, Dr Dana Khoriati's encouragement about the practice's investment in physiotherapy prompted me to follow her advice. Within just three weeks, I had an MRI at the Wilson Hospital (with excellent staff) and Chris Cleaver scheduled a session the very next day to analyze the results. Chris Cleaver instills immense confidence. As part of the LHGP, he collaborates closely with GPs and has rapidly transformed my treatment. He immediately booked a consultation after my appointment with Dr Dana Khoriati, promising to plan a therapy course right after my scan. In today's challenging NHS landscape, this responsiveness is truly exceptional. The clear advantages of an in-house Physiotherapy service are evident. There are no prolonged waiting times because the practice operates as a cohesive team focused on maintaining overall health. Their proactive approach reminds me of the NHS's former reputation. I'm deeply thankful to Dr Dana Khoriati for her swift action and to Chris Cleaver for being even more expeditious. I recall how Dr Catherine Kroll, now retired, transformed the LHGP into a comprehensive health center decades ago, establishing a Diabetic Clinic well ahead of its time, alongside excellent nursing services and additional facilities. Chris Cleaver is presenting my MRI scans at a multidisciplinary meeting to obtain the best advice for addressing my pinched nerves. During our second session, he has already scheduled a follow-up call to discuss the recommended treatment. Dr Dana Khoriati highlighted that one of his strengths is his robust connections with local hospitals. I am immensely grateful for the forward-thinking approach that has enabled my treatment within just 4-5 weeks of my emergency appointment. Having been with LHGP for over 45 years, I've witnessed its evolution into a model demonstrating how the NHS should function. Heartfelt gratitude to Drs Catherine Kroll, Dana Khoriati, and Dr Zuberi, who ensured I saw a Royal Marsden oncologist during a concerning time. From GPs to nurses and now the in-house Physiotherapy team, these are truly remarkable professionals. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
