However, the healthcare professional demonstrated thoughtfulness and a calming approach, clearly explaining what was happening at each stage and reassuring me that I could speak up if I felt anxious or experienced any discomfort. The procedure was completed smoothly and efficiently. As this is an important part of women's health screening and one that can cause women distress, I believe that healthcare professionals who approach the procedure with this level of care and communication are instrumental in encouraging women to maintain their health checks without fear of pain or anxiety.
