Patient Experience Summary

Feedback across this file reveals a deeply divided patient experience, with reception and appointment access emerging as the most consistently problematic areas. Patients report significant difficulties booking appointments through both phone and online systems, with extended waiting times on telephone lines, unresponsive booking processes, and delayed callbacks creating substantial barriers to care. Reception experience stands out as a major concern, with numerous accounts of discourteous, dismissive, and unhelpful staff conduct, including instances of patients feeling disrespected or rushed during interactions at the desk.

Medical care quality also features prominently in negative feedback, with concerns about rushed consultations, inadequate examination of children's conditions, delayed diagnoses, and communication breakdowns between departments. Patients describe feeling unheard when raising health concerns, particularly regarding infant and child care, with some reporting that conditions were dismissed as normal only to require emergency hospital treatment later. Prescription and pharmacy responsiveness issues also appear across multiple reviews.

However, a minority of patients report positive experiences, praising individual doctors and nurses for their attentiveness, compassion, and professional approach. These contrasting accounts suggest service quality varies significantly depending on which staff member patients encounter, indicating inconsistency in care delivery across the practice.

Neglectful gp practice endangered my baby's health

I brought my toddler, just shy of a year and a half, to the clinic with alarming symptoms: intense diarrhea, harsh coughing, and a fever spiking at 40 degrees. He had completely lost his appetite and would vomit whenever we attempted to feed him. This distressing condition persisted for a week, during which he experienced significant weight loss. Initially, the doctors dismissed our concerns, claiming everything was "normal for infants". Deeply anxious about his deteriorating health, we transferred him to the hospital. There, medical professionals properly diagnosed him with a stomach virus and chest infection, prescribing antibiotics. Thankfully, he is now improving and has resumed eating. It appears this medical practice is reluctant to prescribe medication, likely due to financial incentives. Their approach seems questionable, and I believe their practices warrant a thorough investigation.

Unhelpful surgery nearly cost me my eyesight

As a patient of the Bushmead medical center, I attempted to schedule a consultation through their digital platform for a viral condition affecting my eyes. The staff dismissed my concerns, suggesting I visit a pharmacy instead of booking an appointment. Later that night, I sought emergency medical care, where healthcare professionals prescribed the appropriate antiviral medication. Had I not gone to the hospital, I could have potentially suffered permanent eye damage. The level of care and responsiveness from this GP practice is completely unacceptable. I am now planning to terminate my registration with Lea Vale surgery due to their shocking lack of professional medical attention. Absolutely outrageous!!

Unprofessional care led to unnecessary hospital visit

I consulted medical professionals on Liverpool Road regarding my 3-month-old infant who was experiencing severe respiratory distress, with frequent choking episodes and a discharge-filled, adhesive eye. The initial healthcare provider dismissed my concerns, claiming everything was normal. However, her condition dramatically deteriorated, compelling me to seek emergency medical treatment. At the hospital, doctors confirmed she was indeed unwell, diagnosing her with bronchitis or a viral infection, along with an eye infection. They prescribed antibiotic eye ointment, and thankfully, she is now improving.

Absolute disaster. I repeatedly tried to communicate that my kids were unwell, but they brushed me off repeatedly. The scheduled appointment never happened. Their sole competency seems to be mailing out vaccination reminders, which is laughable.

Compassionate care that goes above and beyond

Dr. Saima Naz has gone above and beyond in addressing my mother's healthcare and personal requirements, surpassing our anticipations. Such interactions serve as a powerful reminder of the National Health Service's importance and the genuine compassion some healthcare professionals demonstrate. The dedicated relationship between healthcare providers and patients has proven truly crucial, leading to exceptional medical results. I deeply recognize and am grateful for this level of care, as it genuinely makes a meaningful impact.

Overpriced and unhelpful medical registration scam

These people are complete fraudsters. I required a registration document that should have been complimentary given my GP registration, yet they demanded £15. With no alternative, I reluctantly paid. They presented a sample, and when I requested to photograph it for verification with my department, the receptionist flatly denied my request. Upon payment, I received a document containing my information and GP details, but crucially missing the signature's name. Predictably, the department summarily rejected the certificate due to the anonymous signature. Returning to the GP practice, they stonewalled me and refused to supplement the missing name. As a result, I'm now left with a useless piece of paper and £15 poorer, having been completely taken advantage of by their deceptive practices.

Dangerous leadership threatens patient health and dignity

Dr Nina Pearson, the CCG Chair, displays an appalling attitude towards those with chronic illnesses. Her dismissive approach suggests that patients like myself are somehow lazy or undeserving. My registration with this practice, made in a moment of desperation, has exposed me to continuous risk and potential harm. The treatment I've received is so abysmal that I would genuinely prefer a fatal alternative to enduring her callous disregard again.

Worst medical care ever avoid this surgery

This medical practice is utterly useless, and I'm definitely switching healthcare providers. Appointments are always hurried and impersonal. The receptionists come across as patronizing and unhelpful. I'm currently undergoing an ongoing medical investigation, but both the hospital and pharmacy have redirected me back to my GP. When I reached out, their response was simply that no appointments were available. My one-year-old son had to endure a two-month wait for an appointment, and their emergency scheduling is completely incompetent. Moreover, they attempted to misdiagnose him due to their rushed approach. The service is absolutely appalling, with terrible reception staff and even worse doctors. Don't even waste your time trying to file a complaint. The surgery's head administrator just suggests finding another practice and is all talk in her messages, clearly avoiding any face-to-face confrontation.

Terrible service for patients with autism

I had a GP return my call, but during the conversation, he seemed uncertain about my treatment approach. He claimed he would consult a colleague and call back, but never did. I was compelled to restart the entire process. Most of my day was spent on the phone, waiting for a callback. When the call finally came, the phone rang twice and disconnected before I could answer. Feeling defeated, I visited the surgery and was directed by reception to complete an online form, despite being physically present. As someone with Autism and learning differences, I requested assistance filling out the form as a reasonable adjustment, but the receptionist was dismissive and unhelpful. Disheartened, I attempted to get online help, but the line was perpetually busy. I left a message on the answering service but received no response. The online form lacked speech-to-text functionality, assuming one even had computer access. The service appears completely unsuitable for individuals with neurological disabilities. Eventually, I contacted 111 and was told a GP would call back. The next day, I received a text asking me to book an appointment. They wasted my time and potentially endangered my well-being. Frustrated with the surgery, I went to the hospital struggling with respiratory issues and difficulty breathing. After two 111 assessments, I was finally placed on a machine to help me breathe. The GP receptionist is notoriously difficult and deliberately unhelpful. I've heard multiple people mention avoiding her blonde-haired rudeness. Fortunately, the nurses are competent. In summary, services must be adaptable to individual needs. Everyone deserves quality care. Perhaps more people should file complaints with service ombudsmen to ensure businesses provide the reasonable service they're paid to deliver.
