Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a deeply polarised experience at this practice, with stark contrasts between positive and negative accounts. Those expressing satisfaction consistently praise the medical professionals for their clinical expertise, compassion, and attentiveness to complex health needs. Reception and administrative staff receive particular commendation in positive reviews for courtesy, helpfulness, and going above and beyond to accommodate scheduling requests. However, a substantial volume of feedback highlights significant concerns about appointment access, with patients reporting extended waiting times, difficulty reaching the practice by phone, and challenges with the booking system. Reception experience emerges as a critical issue, with multiple accounts describing discourteous, unhelpful, or dismissive staff conduct. Communication difficulties are frequently cited, including delayed responses to requests, poor handling of medication management, and inadequate follow-up after consultations.

Systemic operational challenges are evident across several reviews, including problems with prescription processing delays, ineffective use of digital systems, and inconsistent application of practice policies. Some patients report feeling blocked from accessing care or receiving dismissive responses to legitimate medical concerns. A notable pattern suggests service quality may have declined following staffing changes. While some reviewers acknowledge the pressures facing general practice, the consistency of complaints regarding reception courtesy, appointment availability, and responsiveness indicates these areas require attention. The practice appears to deliver variable experiences depending on which staff members patients interact with and which services they require.

Rude receptionist destroyed my faith in medical practice

After being a loyal patient at this GP practice for 7 years, I am deeply frustrated by the unprofessional conduct of their new receptionist, who not only spoke to me disrespectfully but also blatantly lied to my face when I tried to explain my medical needs. Her main issue stemmed from my difficulty spelling "coeliac disease" due to my Greek background. When I attempted to clarify that sometimes I struggle with spelling because English isn't my first language, she coldly retorted that if I don't know how to spell my own condition, how could she be expected to type it correctly. I was forced to return in person to make my request, and she then denied ever saying what I clearly remembered. The practice needs to hire receptionists who are genuinely suited to working in a medical environment and who possess the necessary compassion and communication skills. Healthcare professionals are meant to support patients, not humiliate or deceive them.

Shocking patient removal without proper communication

I was completely blindsided when I discovered my child has been unexpectedly struck off the patient register at this medical practice without any prior notification. Upon attempting to schedule a consultation, I was informed that my son is no longer registered with the surgery and currently has no general practitioner assigned to him.

Terrible service causing medical care frustration

Absolute chaos with this medical practice. They've completely mishandled my wife's care on multiple occasions this week, and I'm seriously considering finding a different healthcare provider due to their unprofessional approach.

Worst medical practice ever terrible service and care

I'm truly relieved to have relocated and severed ties with this medical practice. Regrettably, it's been the most disappointing general practitioner experience I've encountered. The four-week registration period should have been a clear warning sign. The reception staff demonstrate a complete lack of compassion, and obtaining prescriptions is practically impossible. The receptionist reached out to modify an appointment originally scheduled by the hospital, attempting to assign me the latest available slot to maximize my inconvenience and displaying peculiar communication on the phone. Upon calling days later to confirm the new appointment, I discovered the booking hadn't actually been changed, leaving me marked as a cancelled appointment. This incident was the ultimate catalyst for my decision to switch practices. It's an absolutely unacceptable way to treat vulnerable patients seeking medical assistance! If you're searching for a general practitioner in this area, I strongly advise exploring alternative options.

Terrible customer service with endless annoying hold music

Stuck waiting for half an hour on the phone, only to have them disconnect the call right when you finally reach a representative, all while attempting to resolve problems they originally created. As a bonus frustration, their hold music is an insufferably short clip that repeats endlessly.

Heartless receptionist blocks cancer patient's urgent medical care

My elderly mother, battling cancer, has been repeatedly attempting to connect with her physician. Each call is met with the receptionist claiming the doctor is unavailable. Despite explicitly stating her critical medical situation, she's been denied even a return call. The dismissive attitude towards a cancer patient experiencing treatment-related symptoms is deeply offensive. It's unacceptable that a non-medical receptionist can effectively block patient access to healthcare, arbitrarily deciding who can or cannot consult their GP. While we understand the challenges facing the NHS, such unprofessional and callous treatment is unacceptable. This receptionist's approach fundamentally undermines patient care and the surgery's reputation. My mother has been a loyal patient at this practice for seven decades. Now, when she most needs medical support, she's confronted with bureaucratic barriers and an incredibly unsympathetic gatekeeper. The complete lack of compassion for a long-standing, vulnerable patient is shocking and represents a profound failure of basic healthcare communication and support.

Disappointing service at local medical practice

I concur with previous reviewers that the quality of this medical practice has significantly declined in recent years. Booking an appointment has become nearly impossible - wait times stretch between 3 to 6 weeks! They instruct patients to call at specific times for same-day appointments, fully aware that such slots are nonexistent. Moreover, the staff display a distinct lack of warmth or hospitality during the rare occasions when a patient actually manages to secure a consultation.

Frustrating healthcare with confusing appointment system

I'm uncertain about the quality of this medical practice. Scheduling an appointment seems impossible. They advise calling at 8:00 for an urgent slot, but their Google Maps listing indicates they open at 8:30 - so which is correct? The front desk personnel aren't particularly welcoming, though I'll admit this is fairly typical of most general practitioner offices, so Lichfield Grove isn't especially standing out in this regard.

Terrible service and zero communication from gp

I've been registered with this general practice for over seven years, and whenever I've had a serious issue, no one seems to care. In the past week alone, I've called the GP more than five times and even visited in person, yet received no assistance. One young staff member on the phone promised to investigate my concern and call me back, but he never did. I even went to Royal Free Hospital seeking help, but they told me I need to follow up with my GP.

Worst medical practice ever with terrible staff

Since Dr. Arnold and a key professional receptionist departed, this practice has devolved into a terrible establishment with completely incompetent staff. - Scheduling appointments is consistently challenging. - The receptionist displays an incredibly hostile demeanor and terrible attitude... - The manager is ineffective and unprofessional, responding with disrespect when complaints are raised. IT IS ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!!! - My general practitioner operates like an emotionless machine (completely apathetic), entirely dismissing me and refusing proper referrals, merely prescribing painkillerswhen she's unwilling to investigate further. She seemingly doesn't comprehend or believe my suffering 🤔🤔 Ultimately, it's profoundly disappointing😓😓 Fundamentally, the entire practice team demonstrates zero patient care and appears poorly trained, with no understanding of professional conduct or patient interactions... - Increasingly, I'm forced to rely on Google, medical books, and friends' experiences for guidance - it's SHAMEFUL that patients must essentially diagnose and treat themselves due to persistent appointment and care complications...

Disappointing medical care lacking compassion and support

Whenever I seek medical guidance or a prescription for myself or my toddler, I'm met with a dismissive response: "No need for medical consultation, just visit a pharmacy for over-the-counter medication." Let me be clear, I reached out because some of us struggle financially and rely on our GP's support when we need it most. The expectation is for healthcare professionals to genuinely consider our circumstances and provide appropriate assistance. If I could self-treat, I wouldn't be asking for advice. It's disappointing that patients are left to fend for themselves when our GP should be offering meaningful help.
