Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice with significant operational challenges that overshadow some positive clinical experiences. Appointment access remains a persistent concern, with patients reporting extended waiting periods ranging from weeks to months, alongside difficulties reaching the practice by phone, where wait times frequently exceed thirty minutes. Reception experience emerges as a key issue, with multiple accounts of dismissive, disrespectful, or unhelpful staff interactions, particularly when patients attempt to discuss health concerns or navigate booking procedures. The online booking system and communication platforms have generated frustration due to complexity, technical problems, and the practice's preference for digital channels over phone contact, which disadvantages those unable or unwilling to use these systems.

Medication management and continuity of care present additional concerns, with reports of prescription delays, lost samples, and inconsistent follow-up on test results. Several patients noted deterioration in service quality following recent organisational changes and staff departures. However, individual clinical staff members, including specific doctors and nurses, have received consistent praise for attentiveness, competence, and compassionate care. The practice environment and convenient location are also highlighted positively by some patients.

The overall picture suggests a practice where clinical quality varies but is sometimes undermined by administrative dysfunction, staffing constraints, and communication barriers that leave patients feeling frustrated and undervalued.

I appreciate the exceptional medical care available in Poole, with five dedicated physician practices serving the community. The doctors here consistently demonstrate a high level of expertise and professionalism, ensuring patients receive top-notch treatment. The abundance of medical options in the area contributes to efficient healthcare delivery and reduced wait times. Overall, the quality of doctor services in Poole is commendable, providing residents with reliable and accessible medical care.

Frustrating appointment booking process

I'm disappointed with the inability to book appointments by phone at the surgery. The online form is frustratingly lengthy, filled with irrelevant questions that have nothing to do with my specific medical concerns. This approach to scheduling is completely inappropriate and inconvenient for patients. It's a poorly designed system that fails to consider the diverse needs of individuals seeking medical care.

Declining service quality at Dr. Nelms' practice

The quality of care at this practice has significantly declined since Dr. Nelms' departure. Reaching a receptionist now feels like an endless ordeal, with my father incurring a £20 charge from our phone provider due to the excessive hold time on their landline. While some physicians remain compassionate and thorough in their approach, others seem quick to dismiss concerns. I recently submitted an e-consult regarding a facial rash and severe skin dryness, only to be redirected to a pharmacy that couldn't assist due to the location of the issue. This frustrating back-and-forth could have been easily resolved with a simple doctor's appointment. The staff's demeanor varies greatly, with only a select few exhibiting genuine helpfulness. Notable exceptions include a young blonde employee with a semicolon tattoo who works across all Adam Practice locations, and Dr. Scott, who has been particularly attentive. Another concerning issue is the delay in processing test results. It's been over a week, and I've received no follow-up communication. I only discovered my results by chance while checking Airmid. As an individual with autism, I find it particularly distressing that the self-check-in system is non-functional, forcing me into unwanted social interactions that contribute to burnout. This lack of consideration for neurodivergent patients is disappointing and adds unnecessary stress to medical visits.

Disastrous healthcare: A patient's nightmare

The medical care at this establishment has taken a drastic turn for the worse since its relocation from Lagland Street and Dr. Nelmes' departure. The merger with Adams practice has only exacerbated the situation. As a stroke survivor dependent on crucial blood pressure medication, I've experienced three inexcusable instances of medication mismanagement, with not even a hint of remorse from the staff. The level of incompetence displayed is truly alarming. If it were possible, I would assign this practice a rating of zero stars, as their performance falls far below even the most basic standards of healthcare provision.

Frustrating hospital experience: Long waits

The medical staff exudes warmth and friendliness once you manage to see them. However, the journey to that point is fraught with frustration. Phone services are virtually unusable, with interminable wait times only to be met with unhelpful responses. Punctuality is rendered meaningless by malfunctioning arrival screens, causing a domino effect of tardiness as you're forced to seek assistance at the reception desk. The glacial pace of service is evident, and while I've not personally experienced rudeness, I've witnessed staff displaying impatience towards other patients. It seems arriving on time for your appointment is merely an invitation to become intimately acquainted with the waiting room chairs for up to an hour post-scheduled time before being seen.

Merger creates chaos: A practice in turmoil

The merger with Adam Practice has only exacerbated an already challenging situation. What was once merely problematic has now devolved into an absolute fiasco. The current state of affairs is nothing short of a complete disaster, leaving clients frustrated and at their wits' end. This unfortunate turn of events has transformed a formerly tolerable experience into an utterly unbearable ordeal.

Worst medical booking system ever experienced

Since their merger, the only way to schedule an appointment is through an online system that's incredibly time-consuming, requiring you to provide extensive personal details just to secure a slot. If you try to book in person or by phone, their reception staff are completely unhelpful, and they rarely even pick up the phone. What an utterly ridiculous process.

Terrible service and uncaring attitude at this practice

Since the merger with Adams Practice, this surgery has seen a significant decline in patient care. Getting through on the phone is nearly impossible - I was informed that being on hold for over 85 minutes was supposedly "not that long" due to chronic understaffing. When you finally do connect, you're promptly redirected online for appointments and medication requests. The staff's attitude makes patients feel like an inconvenience, as if seeking medical assistance is an imposition. If the rating system allowed it, I would absolutely award zero stars.

Prescription nightmare at adams practice takes forever

1 hour, 33 minutes, and 54 seconds ago, I joined the telephone queue for a prescription, starting at position 5. Now, I'm down to position 2. It's absolutely mind-boggling how long it's taking to handle just 3 calls on the prescription line. I'm frantically attempting to secure an additional prescription due to this ridiculous merger with the Adams practice! During my visit to the Spire for an initial meeting, I was assured everything would be seamless and the previous excellent service would continue. However, on Wednesday the 20th at 5:59 PM, I received a text message stating they would cease issuing prescriptions from the end of day September 25th until October 3rd due to merger changes. Consequently, I urgently need an extra prescription. Did they not anticipate the surge in call volume? It's utterly absurd when patients are desperately waiting for their medication. Where is the compassion and patient care??????

Disastrous healthcare service for elderly patients

Since the departure of the respected physicians, addressing any concerns has devolved into an exasperating ordeal for patients attempting to connect with someone capable of providing efficient assistance, even if one manages to get through on the telephone within a quarter of an hour. My wife and I, both octogenarians, were entirely neglected regarding our anticipated spring COVID booster vaccinations, despite numerous phone calls reminding the Surgery about their responsibility for our housebound status and overall care. We believe the appalling indifference and profound lack of respect justifies filing a formal complaint against this practice, which is soon merging with the Addams practice and four other medical facilities. While the Nurses and Doctors themselves deliver exceptional service, I cannot endorse this surgery in its current state.

Nightmare healthcare with terrible customer service

Terrible experience from start to finish. Every single call means being stuck in a queue for a quarter of an hour, only to encounter dismissive front desk staff who seem more like barriers than helpers. The scheduling is equally frustrating - when you finally connect, they propose appointments so far in the future (5-6 weeks) that it feels like they're playing a waiting game, hoping your issue resolves itself or you simply give up. To make matters worse, attempting to voice your legitimate concerns through their online complaint system is futile - the form automatically rejects your submission as spam, effectively silencing patient feedback. If a zero-star rating were possible, I'd select it without hesitation. STEER CLEAR OF THIS MEDICAL PRACTICE

Worst medical office ever avoid at all costs

Disrespectful, incompetent, and technologically outdated. If you're not initially seeking a tinnitus consultation, you'll likely develop the condition while enduring their excruciating classical music soundtrack during a prolonged phone wait exceeding half an hour. Once you finally reach a representative, they demonstrate complete incompetence, arbitrarily inventing policies and procedures designed solely to terminate the call without providing any meaningful assistance. I strongly recommend selecting any alternative service provider. If the rating system permitted, I would assign zero stars to emphasize my profound dissatisfaction.
