Patient Experience Summary

Appointment access remains the dominant concern across feedback, with patients reporting persistent difficulties reaching the practice by phone, encountering engaged lines, dropped calls, and rapid exhaustion of available slots within minutes of opening. The booking experience is characterised by long waiting times on hold, inaccessible online systems, and frequent redirection to alternative services such as walk-in centres or NHS 111. Communication barriers extend beyond appointment scheduling, with patients struggling to reach reception staff for follow-up queries and prescription requests.

Clinical care experiences are mixed. While some patients report responsive and supportive doctors, others describe dismissive interactions, minimal consultation time, and unresponsive approaches to patient concerns. Reception experiences similarly vary, with some staff noted as courteous and helpful, whilst others are described as unprofessional, rude, or unhelpful. Several patients highlighted positive experiences with specific nursing and clinical staff members who demonstrated care and attentiveness.

The practice environment and operational capacity present ongoing challenges. Patients report overcrowded waiting areas, long queues forming before opening hours, and a general sense that the practice is unable to accommodate its patient load effectively. These systemic issues appear to have intensified since the pandemic, with patients noting a marked decline in service quality and accessibility compared to previous years.

Early morning crowd at the clinic

Brought my elderly father to a morning consultation, and the line was incredibly long - around 50 people waiting outside! This explains exactly why scheduling via telephone is practically impossible.

Frustrating prescription nightmare at local surgery

Attempting to secure a repeat prescription has been a nightmare. The online system is malfunctioning, and the medical practice is inexplicably unavailable (at 4:30 PM on August 8th). The prescription refill hotline redirects me back to the surgery. This entire process is absolutely ineffective and completely inadequate. Our once-respected National Health Service has clearly deteriorated... What a disappointment. 😒

Phones always busy when I need help

Absolutely terrible phone service that never picks up. Every time I try to call, the line is constantly busy. They claim to be available at 8am, but only answer when there are no appointments left. The experience is so frustrating that if I could, I'd give them zero stars.

Nightmare appointment for my toddler

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. This is hands down the most terrible general practice ever. I'm utterly shocked by how awful they are - not only am I struggling to get an appointment for myself, but it's even worse for my two-and-a-half-year-old child. The situation is completely unacceptable. The receptionist is incredibly rude and heartless. I desperately want to file a formal complaint against both her and the entire medical practice.

Quick fix at busy medical center

"I noticed an error on my FitNote!" It appeared someone had mixed up the dates. The Receptionist was incredibly courteous, articulate, and efficient, resolving the issue swiftly and smoothly. This is a bustling Medical Practice with an integrated Pharmacy. As demonstrated by the accompanying visual documentation, you can collect your prescription with just a brief 10-minute wait. The facility offers ample disabled parking, though during peak times it can be challenging to find a spot. Surrounding streets may also be congested with vehicles, so if you reside in the vicinity, walking is recommended - and it's a great opportunity for some light exercise!

Appointments vanished before I could blink

I'm awarding just 1 star ⭐ because they claim to take calls for appointments at 8 am, but when I phoned precisely at 8:00 am, the operator already declared all slots were filled. I've attempted to book daily without success. Their medical approach seems inadequate - if patients are suffering, they merely prescribe paracetamol and advise drinking lots of fluids. Completely unsatisfactory service. Trying to reach them is futile in the morning; they're only reachable in the afternoon, by which time all appointments have vanished 😕😕...

Impossible to reach on the phone

Bad Phone System!!! Every single time I call, the line is busy and they never answer. They need to hire some receptionists who can actually inform callers that it's fully booked and direct them to call 111 or visit the walking centre! I'm completely disappointed! They instruct you to call at 8am, but when you do, they never pick up the phone. And if they somehow manage to answer, it's after a 20-minute wait, and even then they don't book your appointment! Absolutely terrible service!!!

Booking an appointment is impossible here

The medical professionals here are competent, but scheduling an appointment is incredibly challenging. It's disheartening that patients can no longer secure a consultation within a reasonable timeframe. Instead of helpful solutions, we're repeatedly told to call back the next day, visit the emergency room, or contact the medical helpline. This approach is deeply unsatisfactory and adds unnecessary stress to those seeking medical care.

Waited 3 hours just to get hung up

Absolute worst surgical practice imaginable - steer clear! I haven't been able to see a physician or schedule an appointment in half a decade. I've been attempting to contact them since early morning, and after enduring a three-hour wait, when they finally pick up, they immediately disconnect the call. Their customer service is embarrassingly inadequate and completely unacceptable.

Pneumonia journey with son's tough recovery

Over the past three months, we experienced a challenging health situation with our son who was battling pneumonia and flu. Initially, the hospital discharged him despite suffering a fainting injury, and we had three ambulance calls due to oxygen deficiency. Our first visit to the GP resulted in a recommendation for hospital admission, but he wasn't accepted. That evening, we went to the hospital and insisted on an X-ray, which revealed his condition and led to antibiotics that initially didn't improve his health. We returned to the GP as an emergency, where Dr. Lau prescribed antibiotics and conducted blood tests, which ultimately helped him recover his strength within five days. The Lister House follow-up appointments were supportive, with reception staff demonstrating remarkable dedication despite high pressure. The doctors were excellent, and I'm grateful for their care of my son. While the appointment scheduling process feels slightly awkward, requiring patients to wait outside, I believe children should always be prioritized with dedicated appointment slots. Thank you, Lister House.

Medication mixup after my health check

Just underwent my annual health checkup over a fortnight ago and now I'm struggling to reorder my prescription. Called this morning as I was nearly out of medication, which triggered a red flag. They acknowledged my current medication but noted the next prescription is set for 56 days from now. Suddenly, the system is demanding another yearly health review. I'm confused and frustrated - this needs to be resolved promptly.
