Patient Experience Summary

Feedback on this practice reveals a notably divided patient experience. Positive reviews highlight compassionate clinical care, with patients appreciating the attentiveness and consideration shown during consultations. The welcoming atmosphere, appointment availability, and supportive team approach are consistently praised by satisfied patients. The administrative team's helpfulness with repeat prescriptions is also noted as a strength.

However, significant concerns emerge around reception experience and access to care. Multiple patients describe the reception team as unwelcoming, dismissive, or confrontational, with some reporting disrespectful interactions. Access difficulties feature prominently, particularly regarding appointment availability for those with mobility needs, home visit requests, and prescription management through alternative locations. Several patients note limited responsiveness to concerns raised, with issues appearing to be managed defensively rather than constructively. Waiting times and communication gaps, including impersonal voicemail responses, are also mentioned as problems.

The mixed feedback suggests that clinical care quality does not consistently translate across all service areas, with reception interactions and access arrangements presenting notable barriers to patient satisfaction.

Bad!

Reception's voicemail greeting was unprofessional

Terrible experience when a family member had to wait a considerable amount of time on a holiday evening for their appointment, only to receive an impersonal voicemail message. The service fell well short of expectations.

Reception staff were dismissive and unhelpful

I would rate this experience far lower if possible. The service fell significantly short of expectations, and I found the reception staff to be unwelcoming and dismissive. I have serious concerns about the care my elderly father received, which resulted in a hospital admission that I believe was preventable. For those with mobility issues needing home visits, this practice does not appear to be suitable. My father was unable to access GP appointments for an extended period, as requests for home visits were declined. Following our switch to another local surgery, my father's healthcare improved dramatically, with his medication reviewed and a home visit arranged very promptly after registration, and the reception team demonstrated a much more respectful and considerate approach. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your healthcare needs.

Reception staff were dismissive of complaints

The reception team came across as quite confrontational, though it appears to be a challenging environment. There seems to be limited responsiveness to concerns raised, with a sense that issues are managed defensively rather than constructively. Better oversight of reception interactions would be beneficial to ensure all patients feel supported and treated fairly.

Dispensary staff were consistently rude and abrupt

We relocated from this practice due to poor service quality and significant staffing shortages. The lead clinician appears primarily focused on cost management rather than patient care, and seems to exert considerable influence over other medical staff who appear reluctant to exercise independent judgment. The pharmacy team consistently displayed an unwelcoming and dismissive manner, giving the impression of dissatisfaction with their roles. The practice had two redeeming qualities: one part-time clinician who was genuinely pleasant and helpful, and a welcoming receptionist. However, these positives were insufficient to outweigh the overall experience, so we made the decision to transfer our care elsewhere. The difference at our new practice has been remarkable and we are very satisfied with the change.

Bad!

Reception staff were dismissive and unhelpful

The reception team came across as unwelcoming and unhelpful during my visits. There seems to be a tendency to direct patients towards nurse appointments regardless of their presenting concerns, which left me questioning the availability of medical staff. I had heard cautionary comments from others in the area beforehand, but decided to give the practice a chance due to its convenient location. Unfortunately, this proved to be a mistake. I would suggest exploring alternative surgeries if you prefer to see a clinician or have prescriptions dispensed at a pharmacy of your choosing rather than using their in-house service.

Excellent!

Helpful staff made repeat prescription easy

Excellent facility with a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The clinical staff are outstanding and provide wonderful care. The pharmacy does have a lunch break closure, however the administrative team are very accommodating in assisting with repeat prescriptions, so everything works out well.

Bad!

Rude staff made prescription transfers difficult

I would give a lower rating if possible. The staff displayed rudeness and disrespect towards my family, with an attitude that concerned me greatly. Additionally, the practice's lack of electronic systems makes it extremely difficult to arrange prescriptions at alternative locations that would be more convenient for us.

Staff listened and went the extra mile

The clinician at this practice is wonderful! They are genuinely kind and compassionate, and they listen carefully to what you have to say. I have been seeing them for quite some time and they have consistently shown great care and consideration, always making an extra effort to ensure my wellbeing. The rest of the team are equally dedicated and supportive, and I would certainly recommend this practice to others.
