Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reflects a mixed but predominantly negative experience with significant challenges in appointment access and reception interactions. Patients consistently report lengthy waiting periods of two to three weeks for appointments, difficulties reaching the practice by phone, and frustration with the online consultation system, which many describe as problematic and ineffective. Reception staff conduct has emerged as a particular concern, with multiple accounts of dismissive, unhelpful, and discourteous behaviour during patient interactions. Several patients have noted issues with medication processing, inadequate clinical assessments, and poor continuity of care, particularly regarding mental health support.

In contrast, clinical staff and some individual team members receive praise for their listening skills, professionalism, and responsiveness when patients do access care. A smaller number of patients report positive experiences with specific clinicians and appreciate the convenience of the NHS App for consultations and prescription ordering. However, these positive interactions are substantially outweighed by widespread concerns about systemic barriers to care access and the overall practice environment.

The shift towards digital-only appointment systems has proven controversial, with patients expressing concern about accessibility for those uncomfortable with technology and the perception that the online process creates obstacles rather than solutions. Multiple patients have indicated they are considering or have already transferred their registration to alternative practices due to these cumulative service issues.

Dismissed concerns that needed urgent surgery elsewhere

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this practice. I was initially told there was nothing wrong with me, despite having a significant health condition. I decided to seek a second opinion elsewhere and was fortunate to be referred to a specialist hospital for surgery. The specialist explained that without this intervention, I could have faced serious complications. I feel the initial assessment fell short of what I needed, and I'm grateful I pursued further medical advice.

Reception staff were dismissive and unhelpful

I found the staff to be unreliable overall. The clinical team appeared to lack sufficient knowledge and expertise across various health areas. Reception staff came across as dismissive and disengaged during my interactions with them. The practice did not seem to treat serious mental health concerns with appropriate urgency or provide adequate support for patients experiencing mental health difficulties. Based on conversations with others, this appears to be a common experience rather than an isolated incident. If you are seeking a practice that will take your concerns seriously, offer meaningful support, and help connect you with appropriate resources, I would recommend considering alternative GP practices.

Quick appointments when you need them most

I have been with this medical practice throughout my life and have never experienced any issues. There was a previous clinician who I found particularly helpful; although some perceived them as having a stern demeanor, I always felt they took my concerns seriously and provided effective solutions. I now see another clinician and prefer to continue with them exclusively. This doctor consistently exceeds what I would expect from the service. They do not dismiss your concerns and provide excellent care. Many surgeries I am aware of typically have waiting times of a week or two for appointments. I have never encountered this delay at this practice, as they are very efficient at accommodating urgent appointments when necessary.

Long waits make appointments feel pointless here

The clinical staff I've encountered have been pleasant and approachable. The healthcare professional I saw for my initial consultation had a somewhat forthright manner, though it wasn't particularly problematic. My main concern is the difficulty in obtaining timely appointments. Whenever I attempt to book, there's consistently a lengthy waiting period of at least two weeks. Even when requesting urgent slots, availability is limited to a week or more at the earliest, which often means my symptoms have resolved before I'm able to attend. This significantly undermines the purpose of seeking prompt medical attention. The practice lacks dedicated on-site parking, requiring visitors to search for street parking instead. The location does benefit from being adjacent to a pharmacy, which is helpful. I am considering transferring my registration to a practice with more accessible appointment availability.

Rude staff and poor parking situation

Avoid at all costs. The clinical staff demonstrated unprofessional conduct, the wider team were unwelcoming, and there were significant parking difficulties at the location.
