I'm registered with Manor House surgery in Glossop, and when I couldn't secure a timely appointment, I was directed to contact 111 or visit a walk-in centre. Following my consultation with 111, I was assured a medical professional from Manor House would reach out before the day's end. Disappointingly, no call was forthcoming. I now find myself waiting at a walk-in centre. Typically, Manor House provides a reliable service, notwithstanding the occasionally unwelcoming reception staff. On this particular instance, however, I am frustrated by the lack of a promised callback.

I've been a loyal patient at this medical office for a considerable time and have always received top-notch care until today. My interaction with the receptionist, Mel, was deeply disappointing. Her demeanor was hostile, dismissive, and belittling, making for an extremely uncomfortable encounter. It appears I'm not alone in my criticism of her unprofessional behavior. It might be in the practice's best interest to either provide her with additional customer service training or consider replacing her.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. The entire process is excruciatingly slow with this practice. The front desk personnel are discourteous, and the overall management is completely disorganized. Dr. Wilkinson should seriously address these issues, as they're seriously damaging his professional standing. I was scheduled for a 9am appointment, yet I was kept waiting for 25 minutes - how can such unprofessional conduct be acceptable?

Friendly Doctor Khan Sorted Everything Out
I've always found Manor House Surgery excellent. Previously, I was registered at Awburn House in Mottram, but was told I couldn't remain there after 30 years due to moving just a mile away. I joined Manor House while working for the council's mowing team. They've consistently been incredibly supportive. When Glossop appointments weren't available, they've always offered alternatives at Hadfield. During my most recent visit, they arranged for me to see Mr Khan at the Hadfield surgery. He was fantastic, helping me resolve several issues including chasing up my overdue yearly hospital check and other matters. Within a fortnight, I had an appointment where the NHS determined I needed private treatment for a hip replacement, as my arthritis had significantly worsened and was severely limiting my mobility. My only current frustration is waiting for a fit note I requested last Friday, which still hasn't arrived despite the secretary raising it with the doctor. However, aside from this minor issue, I can't criticize the surgery at all.

While scheduling appointments can be challenging, they are accommodating when urgent medical needs arise. The medical team is exceptional, with only one past exception who is no longer practicing. Terrible emergency care at this clinic
The staff here represent the epitome of unprofessional and indifferent service. The receptionist was incredibly discourteous, dismissing me after claiming I was late for an appointment that I had previously been told was acceptable. This was particularly egregious given it was an emergency consultation for a critical health issue. Their complete absence of compassion and absurdly long wait times are unacceptable. Having to potentially wait up to three weeks for an urgent medical matter is absolutely ridiculous! My strongest recommendation is to STEER CLEAR of this practice.

Nightmare at reception destroyed my insurance claim
The front desk employee was completely unaccommodating and discourteous. When I needed to cancel my trip due to legitimate medical circumstances, I was denied any form of appointment. Ultimately, this staff member's uncooperative demeanor has resulted in my insurance company rejecting my claim. Furthermore, my physician has now declined to complete the necessary medical documentation since I was not able to be seen regarding the original issue.

I feel compelled to share my frustration with this surgery's apparent lack of compassion and professionalism. Anyone considering moving to this area should think twice before registering here. As a young patient seeking guidance and support, I left the doctor's office feeling significantly worse than when I arrived. It's evident that the practice is severely understaffed, with the staff members I encountered seeming disengaged and unhappy in their roles. The reviews suggest a significant problem with staff training, particularly when interacting with younger patients. As a young adult navigating medical appointments independently for the first time, I felt belittled and embarrassed. During my consultation, the doctor asked virtually no questions and made no effort to help me feel comfortable, despite my obvious nervousness. I strongly believe I would have received different treatment had I been accompanied by a parent or an older companion, which is fundamentally unacceptable. It's challenging to maintain faith in the NHS when experiences like mine are so common. Regardless of how overworked healthcare professionals might be, showing basic kindness and genuine desire to help a clearly anxious patient costs absolutely nothing.
