Painful Leg, No Help from Surgery Staff

Extremely unhelpful reception team, experiencing intense leg pain that prevented mobility, I was instructed to schedule an appointment and told the doctor wouldn't make a house call. Forced to contact emergency services to reach the hospital, upon returning home, the doctor initially refused to visit despite my bedridden condition. Only after a phone call did they agree to come. Obtaining pain medication refills became an arduous struggle before my current prescription expired. I've reached my limit and am absolutely switching medical practices. The reception staff, in my view, desperately require comprehensive retraining to properly assist patients enduring severe pain like myself.

Quick Care at My Local Surgery

Contrary to some previous comments, obtaining a GP appointment is not challenging - urgent medical needs are consistently accommodated with same-day scheduling. While there is one physician I personally prefer to avoid, all other doctors, practice nurses, and healthcare assistants are consistently welcoming and make patients feel genuinely valued. Recently, I've experienced several health issues requiring hospital referrals, which have been processed efficiently and without delay. Although there can occasionally be a brief wait when calling, it's understandable given the practice serves thousands of patients, not just an individual. Throughout my interactions, the reception staff have unfailingly been courteous and supportive.

Scheduling an appointment here is a nightmare. Every time I try to book, they claim they're completely full, and this has been the case for weeks. When you finally manage to call, they simply inform you that all slots are taken, making it incredibly frustrating to get any service.

Missed Appointments Derail My Blood Tests

A complete blood test disaster unfolded. Initially, a nurse failed to conduct the specific tests requested by my specialist consultant, leaving him without crucial diagnostic information during our consultation to adjust my medication and treatment. Six weeks later, a second attempt to complete the required blood tests also collapsed. I arrived punctually, 5 minutes before my 10:30 appointment, and observed a nurse aimlessly wandering around reception for a quarter of an hour. After waiting 15 minutes, I departed. While I'm understanding that medical consultations can overrun due to patient complexity, the actual process of drawing blood takes merely 10 minutes. Clearly, the blood tests, medication management, and monitoring are utterly insignificant for someone who is obese, diabetic, hypertensive, and undergoing cardiac rehabilitation... aren't they?
