Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice with significant operational challenges that substantially impact patient experience. Appointment access remains the most persistent concern, with patients reporting extreme difficulty securing consultations through both phone and online systems, extended waiting times on hold, and booking system failures that prevent advance scheduling. Reception experience is notably inconsistent, with multiple reports of discourteous and dismissive staff behaviour contrasting sharply with occasional praise for supportive team members. Communication gaps are evident throughout the patient journey, from unclear appointment confirmations to lack of responsiveness regarding patient concerns.

Medical care quality shows considerable variation. While several patients commend individual doctors for attentive, compassionate consultations and clear explanations, others report rushed appointments, inconsistent competence, and dismissive attitudes toward patient concerns. Vaccination services and specific clinical procedures have been delivered efficiently in some cases. Positive themes include professional medical expertise, supportive reception staff, and effective clinical care when accessed, though these strengths are frequently undermined by systemic organisational dysfunction.

The practice faces fundamental structural issues affecting service delivery. Patients describe prolonged phone queues, inadequate staffing relative to demand, pharmacy delays, and poor coordination between departments. While individual staff members occasionally demonstrate genuine care and professionalism, the overall framework appears inefficient, creating barriers to timely care and leaving patients frustrated with their ability to access healthcare when needed.

The worst doctors

In my view, there are some very bad GPs at this practice who do not take time to listen and rush your appointment. They do not make an accurate record of your appointment. Further, a number of GPs ignored the direct advice of consultants and made changes to a medicine regime which caused difficulties. The practice manager does not return calls or handle complaints properly. If you complain about a GP, the complaint is dealt with and determined by the GP you complain about. It is an appalling practice in my opinion. I received very poor care which made my health conditions worse. When I advocated for myself and tried to complain, I was not take seriously. The practice and GPs just sought to cover their own backs. This was typical of my experience of Manor Park over the last couple of years.

Blonde receptionist saved my meds today

I accidentally discarded my antidepressant medication this morning, which was quite careless of me. The young blonde receptionist was incredibly supportive and kind. She carefully reviewed my medical records and promptly arranged a replacement prescription. I was pleasantly surprised to find the medication ready for collection later the same day. What an exceptional, courteous, and attentive staff member she is! I think her name was Kelly. My sincere gratitude to her!!

Friendly doc but tough wait at pharmacy

The physician was quite supportive and professional. However, the front desk staff came across as somewhat dismissive and irritable during my interaction. Additionally, waiting at the pharmacy took an excessively long time - around 35 minutes, which was quite frustrating.

Frustrating chronic pain referral mix-up

After being recommended for an MSK consultation, I was unexpectedly redirected to the Chronic Pain service - a program seemingly designed for patients who have supposedly explored all treatment avenues, when in reality, no genuine attempt had been made to address my underlying condition. Despite the initial assurance of an MSK referral, I ultimately learned that no such referral was actually processed. This revelation came only after enduring a 2-3 month waiting period. The entire experience represents a comprehensive failure, resulting in an unresolved health concern while simultaneously squandering NHS resources through an inappropriate and incorrect service referral.

Doctor's care made my day better

From the moment you enter, the elevated quality is unmistakable. The front desk staff demonstrate remarkable compassion and go above and beyond to assist, while the physician I consulted was truly outstanding. Despite the longer journey required, every mile is completely justified—this facility represents a substantial improvement over my previous experiences!

Dr.Ann Piwerd

Dr.Powers has the ability to make you feel at ease during your consultation, she listens carefully explaining why she is instigating requests for certain tests. I feel she is a very caring person which Is a very important factor in a doctors persona. Having confidence in your GP gives you confidence in seeking medical advice. Test results where received very quickly with explanations which was very helpful Once again thank you Dr. Powers

Doctor caught my life-saving concern

I've had an exceptional experience with this medical practice. Initially, I consulted about changing bowel habits, and the doctor promptly referred me for tests that ultimately revealed a tumour. I genuinely believe that with another physician, I might not have had the confidence to discuss my symptoms, and I deeply appreciate this doctor's quick and decisive action, particularly since at 39, cancer wasn't an immediately apparent diagnosis. Subsequently, I've interacted with the nursing staff - Kim and her colleague were exceptional, providing tremendous comfort while treating the wound resulting from my tumour removal surgery. After a couple of follow-up visits, I was equipped with supplies and clear instructions for self-wound care. My interactions with the reception staff regarding prescription supplies from a national pharmacy have been generally positive. While there have been occasional administrative errors, they've consistently demonstrated a helpful attitude and never appeared discourteous or dismissive. The most effective appointment booking method is completing the PATCHS request form, though this might not be suitable for urgent consultations. Given everything they've done for me, I would never consider changing surgeries and remain incredibly thankful for their care.

Ignored us when we needed help most

The receptionist was incredibly unhelpful just days before my boyfriend's passing. We were both unwell, and I desperately sought medical assistance. I was on the verge of tears as they dismissively claimed there was nothing they could do. I was exhausted, having been throwing up for nearly a week, barely sleeping, and severely dehydrated. They showed absolutely no concern or support. Now, if I ever become that sick again, I will never contact this medical practice because they are completely useless. I strongly advise anyone to avoid these doctors at all costs while you still can!

Caring doctor who truly listened

I consulted Dr. Amorginos regarding my health concern. We collaboratively explored my medical issue, with him attentively hearing my perspective and jointly developing a primary strategy along with an alternative approach. His exceptional capacity to listen, provide guidance, demonstrate understanding, and dedicate sufficient time to our consultation perfectly mirrored my interactions with the most outstanding physicians I've encountered. My sincere appreciation goes to Dr. Amorginos.

Long wait and no help at all

4 days wait to see a physician, and at 8am on Thursday, there's no appointment until Monday at 11:40am. The receptionists' only suggestion was for me to visit a walk-in clinic - which they had previously recommended. Ironically, they even had a poster seeking new patients at the time. Clearly, they're unable to adequately care for their existing patient base.

Pharmacy mix-ups drove me crazy

Scheduling appointments is a challenge. There are frequent mix-ups with prescriptions, and they're often not prepared when promised. Additionally, medications are arbitrarily removed from my prescription without any communication—no phone call or text to confirm whether I still need these items.

Long wait for diabetic child's care

My diabetic granddaughter had an infection in two toes (a serious risk for diabetics), and her mother sought an urgent appointment. Despite the critical nature, no slots were available, with advice to use a drop-in centre. At the centre, only one clinician was present, resulting in a wait exceeding two hours. During check-in, staff were shocked that a GP had denied an appointment, recognizing the potential dangers of toe infection combined with her compromised immune system. We endured the wait, and I must acknowledge that despite the lengthy process, the care was remarkably professional. I composed an email expressing my concerns to the GP. Their response was a convoluted explanation of the surgery's challenges, to which I replied that their internal issues are irrelevant - their primary responsibility is patient care. My subsequent email received no acknowledgment, which I find unprofessional. I then escalated my complaint via another email, again met with silence. It's remarkable how staff demand respect while demonstrating such blatant disregard for patient communication. Their behavior clearly illustrates a profound lack of empathy and consideration for patients' needs. It's no surprise that patients become frustrated when encountering dismissive receptionists who seem unwilling to genuinely listen. Having family members with extensive NHS experience across various healthcare settings, they too are deeply troubled by the substandard care my granddaughter experienced.

Confusing doctor visit about serious scan results

My spouse visited today to receive results that were dispatched to him, and in his medical notes, there was a flag for the doctor to review the scan findings first. The physician asked why he was there, and my husband responded that he was summoned due to scan results. The doctor claimed, "I'm not a neurologist, why should I comprehend these results?" My husband left bewildered and anxious. Upon examining his NHS records, we discovered a critical notation stating this patient requires placement on the cancer pathway if he hasn't been informed yet. This supposed general practitioner was unable to explain or comprehend the situation. We are now in a state of uncertainty, unsure of whom to approach for guidance and support.
