Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a practice with significant operational challenges that substantially impact patient experience. Appointment access remains the most persistent concern, with patients reporting extreme difficulty securing consultations through both phone and online systems, extended waiting times on hold, and booking system failures that prevent advance scheduling. Reception experience is notably inconsistent, with multiple reports of discourteous and dismissive staff behaviour contrasting sharply with occasional praise for supportive team members. Communication gaps are evident throughout the patient journey, from unclear appointment confirmations to lack of responsiveness regarding patient concerns.

Medical care quality shows considerable variation. While several patients commend individual doctors for attentive, compassionate consultations and clear explanations, others report rushed appointments, inconsistent competence, and dismissive attitudes toward patient concerns. Vaccination services and specific clinical procedures have been delivered efficiently in some cases. Positive themes include professional medical expertise, supportive reception staff, and effective clinical care when accessed, though these strengths are frequently undermined by systemic organisational dysfunction.

The practice faces fundamental structural issues affecting service delivery. Patients describe prolonged phone queues, inadequate staffing relative to demand, pharmacy delays, and poor coordination between departments. While individual staff members occasionally demonstrate genuine care and professionalism, the overall framework appears inefficient, creating barriers to timely care and leaving patients frustrated with their ability to access healthcare when needed.

Impossible to get a doctor's appointment

Absolute worst primary care physician. Attempting to schedule a consultation for my child has been an ongoing nightmare. They consistently appear fully booked and unavailable.

Appointment chaos with unhelpful staff

Misleading and discourteous personnel attempted to shift blame onto me for their mistake, even going so far as to issue an official reprimand for supposed aggressive conduct! I sought a same-day consultation for my 4-year-old and received a text confirmation with the appointment time, requesting a response only if inconvenient. Upon arriving at the clinic precisely at the scheduled time with my child, I was informed that the appointment was reassigned because I supposedly hadn't confirmed it! This isn't an isolated incident - I've experienced repeated discriminatory treatment from administrative staff and have lodged formal complaints, yet absolutely no improvements have been implemented.

Incompetent personnel and physicians who appear to have obtained their medical credentials through an internet program. Absolutely not recommended. You'll likely reach retirement age before successfully scheduling a consultation.

Quick and friendly doctor's visit today

Whenever I need to schedule a medical consultation, the entire experience from initial contact with reception to the actual doctor's visit has been absolutely excellent. I've consistently been able to secure same-day appointments, and the front desk staff have been incredibly courteous and supportive. They should continue maintaining this high standard of service 👍

Rude doctor dismisses elderly patient's concerns

My elderly mother (86) saw her doctor today, and I'm convinced he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. When she described her health concern, he responded with an incredibly dismissive attitude. She's dealing with high blood pressure and simply requested an adjustment to her medication. His response was to rudely ask if she wanted him to cancel her prescription or provide an alternative. It was absolutely appalling how he treated a vulnerable 86-year-old patient. Aren't medical professionals supposed to offer support and compassion to those who are worried about their health???

Rude receptionist ruined my doctor's visit

During my visit to the GP, the staff were courteous and friendly, but the phone receptionist was extremely unpleasant. She repeatedly raised her voice and spoke in an aggressive manner, making me feel deeply uncomfortable. I sincerely wish she could understand the impact of her harsh communication and experience the same distressing interaction that I did.

Frustrating medication mix-up at manor park surgery

I just visited Manor Park Surgery in Bramley Leeds for my routine medication pickup, and I'm extremely frustrated. The staff refused to provide my medication, claiming I've collected two batches within the same week. However, this is my standard process: I collect my daily medication early in the week, then return later for the next week's supply. Now, because of their rigid policy, I'll be left without my essential medication, especially problematic since the clinic will be closed during the bank holiday and I have a crucial hospital appointment on Tuesday. Is this acceptable treatment for a patient who relies on consistent medication?

Dr Barton's dismissive transgender healthcare talk

I was directed to Harrogate by my GP to obtain a Testosterone prescription as a trans man who had been self-medicating. Despite receiving a letter recommending prescription, they subsequently rejected it, prompting me to schedule an appointment to understand their reasoning. During my consultation with Dr Barton, he consistently interrupted me while I explained my needs. He repeatedly used dismissive phrases like "it's for your safety" and "I could lose my job," particularly when I described the potential negative mental health consequences. His most patronizing comment was comparing my situation to "treating someone with cancer and asking what treatment they want," effectively undermining my agency and understanding of my own healthcare needs.

dr barton listened and truly helped me

I recently consulted Dr. Barton for a routine medication assessment regarding my ulcerative colitis, and he truly exemplifies exceptional medical care. Unlike previous physicians who merely skimmed the surface, he thoroughly addressed my concerns and provided comprehensive insights about my condition. I left the consultation feeling empowered and more knowledgeable about managing my illness. Dr. Barton demonstrated a profound sense of compassion and commitment to patient well-being, taking the time to ensure I felt fully understood and supported. In an era where mental health challenges are increasingly prevalent, healthcare professionals like him are invaluable. His genuine approach makes patients feel truly heard and cared for, which can make a significant difference in overall treatment and patient experience.

Awful wait and disrespectful doctor barton

Arrived 40 minutes behind schedule with zero acknowledgment of the delay. Despite my explicit request for a female physician, a male doctor conducted the examination. Dr. Barton displayed an appalling bedside manner, coming across as condescending and treating me with utter disrespect. The level of care was abysmal. My heart goes out to the reception staff, who are wonderful professionals forced to manage the consequences of these substandard medical practitioners.

Endless wait with cranky one-year-old

For the second occasion, I had a scheduled appointment at 12:30 PM for my infant's vaccination. I repeatedly approached the reception desk to inquire about the extensive delay, and they consistently claimed the nurse was with another patient. After enduring a staggering 1 hour and 5 minutes of waiting, the receptionist finally took action and consulted the nurse, who revealed the appointment wasn't registered in her system. It is utterly unacceptable that I was forced to wait so long with my restless one-year-old on my lap, especially since strollers are prohibited in the clinic. Their sole response was a dismissive apology, and the staff appeared completely indifferent, continuing to laugh and chat behind the reception desk. I am astounded that this same inexcusable situation has now occurred twice.
