Patient Experience Summary

Appointment access remains a significant challenge at this practice, with patients reporting persistent difficulties securing bookings through both phone and online channels. Long waiting times on hold, unresponsive phone lines, and claims of unavailable slots are recurring themes, leaving many unable to obtain timely consultations. Reception experience is mixed, with some staff praised for helpfulness and courtesy, whilst others are frequently described as dismissive, discourteous, and unhelpful. Communication failures extend beyond appointment booking, including missed callbacks, unclear consultation arrangements, and inconsistent handling of patient contact information.

Care quality shows considerable variation across the practice. Some patients report thorough examinations, compassionate care, and effective treatment, whilst others describe dismissive attitudes, inadequate clinical engagement, and insufficient follow-up. Prescription errors and pharmacy coordination issues have been noted, along with concerns about responsiveness to test results and referral management. The practice environment and administrative systems receive mixed feedback, with some appreciating the welcoming atmosphere and efficient processes, whilst others highlight disorganisation and system failures.

Positive experiences centre on individual clinicians who demonstrate genuine attentiveness and compassion, alongside efficient service delivery when booking systems function smoothly. However, the overall pattern suggests systemic challenges in appointment availability, consistency of reception courtesy, and care coordination that warrant attention to ensure equitable access and quality experience across all patient interactions.

Poor communication and unhelpful care

I absolutely cannot endorse this surgical procedure. My recent blood tests revealed a vitamin B12 deficiency, but instead of proactively contacting me, I had to initiate the follow-up call myself. Even more frustrating, they suggested I source my own treatment externally rather than providing a prescription. Their administrative incompetence is further highlighted by their inability to correctly manage basic patient contact information. I strongly advise steering clear of this medical practice entirely.

Dismissive GP ignored my child's serious symptoms

Our encounter with this general practitioner was incredibly frustrating. Our child experienced extreme eye inflammation, with redness and light sensitivity so severe it was debilitating. Despite trying antihistamines, I encountered significant difficulty securing an urgent appointment and was initially turned away. When we finally met with the doctor the following day, her attitude was cold and disinterested. The GP quickly dismissed the symptoms as "merely an allergic reaction" and seemed eager to discharge us without conducting any meaningful examination. When I raised the possibility of allergy testing, given the recurring nature of these symptoms, she flatly rejected the idea. She showed no interest in the photographic evidence I wanted to share and was reluctant to provide a referral, repeatedly suggesting the investigation would be pointless. Ultimately, I was compelled to seek private allergy testing at my own expense, which definitively revealed my child's allergies to cat dander and dust mites. The entire experience was deeply disheartening, as I was forced to advocate aggressively just to have my parental concerns acknowledged and addressed with the appropriate level of professional care and respect.

Impossible to Get a Doctor's Appointment

The struggle to secure medical consultations is utterly ridiculous. Individuals who are legitimately unwell and sparingly seek medical advice are unfairly disadvantaged and marginalized. Why can't I be offered an appointment for tomorrow? Start implementing penalties for no-shows! This would discourage time-wasters and create more availability for patients genuinely requiring medical attention!

Worried Mom Rushed Baby to A&E

I'm thoroughly frustrated with the subpar medical attention we experienced. When my daughter was clearly unwell with a high fever, we secured a quick consultation where she was examined and then dispatched with instructions for a urine sample. We diligently submitted that sample first thing in the morning at 8 AM. Upon following up about the test results, I was repeatedly informed that the sample remained untested. Growing increasingly concerned, I ultimately made the difficult decision to bring my vulnerable 6-month-old to the emergency department. After an anxious wait, medical staff confirmed she had a urinary tract infection and prescribed potent medication. Despite earlier assurances that someone would contact me by 5:30 with test results, no communication has occurred. I'm deeply disappointed that I was forced to proactively seek appropriate medical intervention for my infant, a responsibility that should have been handled competently by the healthcare professionals initially consulted. Their negligence potentially compromised my child's health and well-being.

Dismissive doctor made me feel unheard

I became a patient at Marfleet Group Practice in February 2019, and initially, my experience was quite satisfactory. However, my perception shifted when Dr. Weir became my primary healthcare provider. Throughout my interactions, I found Dr. Weir to be remarkably unsympathetic and brusque. I consistently attempted to communicate my ongoing, unexplained medical symptoms, seeking understanding and assistance. Instead of addressing my concerns compassionately, I felt I was confronted with aggression and even threatened with dismissal from the practice. A particularly memorable incident occurred when I missed a urine sample appointment because my mother, who suffers from temporal lobe epilepsy, forgot the scheduled time. Rather than showing empathy, Dr. Weir became confrontational, loudly accusing me of being "lazy" and telling me to "stop making excuses." This response was deeply upsetting and wholly unprofessional. Additionally, a serious medication error involved my mother being mistakenly prescribed heart medication intended for an 88-year-old male. Fortunately, she recognized the mistake and returned the medication to the pharmacy before consumption, but the potential consequences could have been life-threatening. In March 2020, I was abruptly removed from the practice with minimal explanation, citing a "breakdown in the patient-doctor relationship." From my perspective, I had always communicated respectfully and was simply seeking help for my health concerns. I felt Dr. Weir made no genuine attempt to understand or address my medical needs. I ultimately departed the practice feeling marginalized, unsupported, and fundamentally disregarded—a profoundly disappointing outcome after initially placing my trust in their care. By sharing my experience, I hope to highlight the critical importance of feeling valued and respected within healthcare environments.

Rude Receptionist Made My Morning Worse

The staff member manning the prescription phone line on 27/04/2025 at 11:30am demonstrated a serious lack of professional courtesy when dealing with patients. Her disrespectful attitude and sarcastic tone were completely inappropriate, especially when interacting with individuals who are unwell. Given the numerous complaints about similar unprofessional conduct, it appears management urgently needs to reassess their hiring practices and provide better training to ensure staff treat patients with the compassion and respect they deserve.

Webpage Troubles Frustrate Long-Time Customer

I've been a loyal customer for several years and previously appreciated their service, but a recent system update has completely disrupted my ability to access essential documentation through their website. The online portal keeps shutting down just an hour or two after opening, which is incredibly frustrating. Since I prefer not to communicate via phone, this new limitation makes it extremely challenging for me to obtain the documents I consistently need.

Terrible physio who didn't care about my pain

Visited the clinic repeatedly due to back and hip discomfort, only to be informed at Hull Royal that a nerve was being compressed in my spine. Attended a physiotherapy session that lasted a mere 5 minutes, during which the so-called "physiotherapist" displayed complete indifference. If I could, I'd rate this experience lower than zero stars. I strongly advise steering clear of this surgical procedure - the entire team is utterly incompetent and worthless!

Receptionist's Bad Attitude Ruined My Morning

The receptionist on 11.12.2024 was incredibly discourteous and displayed a terrible attitude. Throughout my previous visits, most staff members have been similarly unwelcoming, with only one exception who was genuinely pleasant. The practice's staff desperately need to improve their approach and learn how to treat patients with basic respect and professionalism.

Quick Diagnosis Saved My Sanity

I switched my general practitioner to Marfleet Group Practice. They successfully identified my health issues within a short period, arranging a CT scan and additional tests, for which I am extremely grateful. My previous GP failed to diagnose my condition for years, leaving me stressed, mentally exhausted, and losing faith in healthcare. I want to award Marfleet Group Practice a perfect 5-star rating for their exceptional care and support.

Dreadful

Every time I have called for an appointment they haven't had any and i rang 111 for my THREE year old child and they told me to call my GP and they will send a letter over to them and they should see me within an hour or at least have a telephone appointment as they have a duty of care, i called marfleet group practice as this is my child's usual practice. The lady on reception said they don't have a duty of care and my child cant be seen as they have no appointments or emergency appointments. This is ridiculous. I haven't been able to get any appointments here for months even when i call at 8am. Everyone i speak to says they are bad. Stay clear of this GP.

Worst doctor visit ever at clinic

Dr. Magrabi deserves to be brought to attention for her unprofessional conduct. Her bedside manner is severely lacking, consistently displaying frustration and annoyance, which is particularly inappropriate for a medical professional. In contrast, I find that other physicians at least make some effort to be more compassionate and understanding.

Terrible doctor with zero bedside manner

Dr. Weir, this marks the second instance where both myself and my husband have encountered problems with this utterly useless physician. I previously filed a complaint over a year ago, yet he continues to treat patients with utter contempt. Securing a medical appointment is challenging enough, and when you finally manage to get one, you're confronted by this unbearable individual. Despite having workplace health insurance, we occasionally need to consult our registered GP, and he shamelessly interrogates my husband about having a private health assessment. When heart-related issues were discovered and he was advised to discuss the results with his GP, this doctor displayed a condescending attitude. There is absolutely nothing wrong with proactively managing one's health, and patients should never feel embarrassed about taking steps to monitor their well-being. This is precisely what we contribute to the healthcare system for. His behavior is completely unacceptable and reprehensible.

Impossible to Schedule an Appointment

I attempted to contact them multiple times throughout the morning - at 8 AM, I called and got no response. At 9:15 AM, I tried again and used their call back feature, but never received a return call. When I rang again at 11:45 AM to request an appointment and inquire about the lack of communication, I was met with an unhelpful and dismissive receptionist who informed me that something wasn't working and no appointments were available. The staff's behavior is completely unacceptable, demonstrating a total lack of professionalism and customer service. This practice is clearly mismanaged, with employees who desperately need comprehensive training in basic interpersonal skills. Their entire operation appears incompetent and unprofessional.
