Long wait ruined by last-minute practitioner absence
I waited approximately a month to see a particular clinician for a specific procedure. When I attended my appointment, I was informed by another clinician that the practitioner I had booked with was absent due to illness with no confirmed return date. According to the practice, this clinician is the only one available to perform the procedure I require. I felt this appointment was not productive and my time could have been better used. It would have been more helpful if the practice had contacted me beforehand to clarify the purpose of my visit and to inform me of the clinician's unavailability. I am concerned that there appears to be only one clinician at the practice qualified to deliver this particular procedure, which may affect access for multiple patients requiring this service.

Confusing system leaves patients going elsewhere
The appointment system appears to be ineffective. Upon arrival, staff indicate they are occupied despite the waiting area being empty. This is confusing. In my view, the surgery could close entirely as I find it more convenient to visit the walk-in centre instead, where I am seen promptly.

Attempting to secure an appointment or speak with someone at this practice proves frustrating, as the standard response is to contact 111 instead. The expectation would be for the surgery to handle matters directly rather than redirecting patients elsewhere.

Impossible to book an appointment with a doctor
The staff were pleasant enough, however the process for obtaining an appointment with a clinician is quite problematic. The system appears to be ineffective in practice. I'm uncertain whether the practice has adequate medical staffing, as it seems extremely difficult to secure a consultation unless the situation is severe. The standard response appears to be directing patients to call 111 for urgent matters. It would be preferable if the practice could manage their own appointment scheduling more effectively.

I am thoroughly disappointed with the physical setup of this surgery, particularly when discussing private and confidential matters at reception. The layout allows conversations to be overheard by other patients waiting in the queue or in the waiting area, which raises concerns about confidentiality and data protection compliance. This arrangement is inappropriate and represents a significant area requiring improvement. Apart from this concern, the practice is otherwise satisfactory.

Reception staff were dismissive and unhelpful
I have had a very negative experience at this surgery. The reception staff were unwelcoming and I felt the clinical team did not provide adequate care. After relocating to a different practice, I discovered that test results I had been told were satisfactory were actually concerning. I have lost confidence in the care I received here and feel let down by the service. I believe that had I received more thorough attention initially, my current health situation would not be as problematic. I am disappointed that a healthcare provider operates in this manner and question whether the standard of care meets what patients deserve. I regret my time at this practice and feel the outcome could have been very different with better support from the outset.

This morning after calling at 8am I was able to secure an in-person appointment with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who had previously assisted me with a health concern. The clinician was pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. They proved to be a definite asset to the practice.

Couldn't book appointment after multiple visits
Absolutely horrendous. Received notification that a review was required. Knew there was no point in calling, so visited four times to book an appointment. Was told each time that no appointments were available for this review. Despite this, the practice continued to contact me and cancelled my medication. Incompetent and rude is putting it mildly.

Long waits and redirected to walk-in centre instead
Called last week to arrange an appointment for my young toddler and was unable to secure one until several months later. Called back when my child developed a high fever and was directed to attend an urgent care centre instead. I spent several hours there and had to remain in a hot vehicle with my unwell child. My child was found to have infections in both ears and throat inflammation. Antibiotics were prescribed and I went to the nearby pharmacy to collect them. The pharmacy took a considerable amount of time to retrieve the prescription from their system, which occurred late in the evening with my exhausted and poorly child. The pharmacy did not have the liquid formulation in stock, so I accepted the standard version, but my child is unable to take it and is refusing to swallow it. I have now called my GP practice to request the liquid version instead. I am currently the seventh caller in the queue and have been waiting for an extended period. I have found this practice to be significantly below the standard I would expect, and I was cautioned before relocating to the area that changing to this practice would not be advisable due to its poor reputation, which I now regret not heeding.

I'm married to a healthcare professional employed at this practice. I have personally received care and guidance from both clinical staff and pharmacy services at this health centre. I feel qualified to share this review. The facility itself is excellent, featuring contemporary equipment and maintaining high standards of cleanliness. The often-overlooked support staff who maintain these standards deserve recognition for their contributions. The clinical team, administrative personnel and front-desk staff are all well-trained, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous. All staff members have faced extraordinary challenges since early 2020, with the global health crisis impacting everyone significantly. Healthcare workers were valued before, but the pandemic has required them to meet almost unimaginable demands whilst maintaining essential services. At this practice and across the health service, they function as a cohesive unit. From support roles to senior positions, from newer staff to experienced professionals, they work together. It's difficult to imagine how services would function without their collective effort. As patients, we too experience pressure, and sometimes respond with impatience or discourtesy. The staff navigate these situations with understanding, recognising the strain we're all under. When facing their own pressures, they pause, remain composed, draw on their training and maintain complete professionalism. The global health crisis has created unprecedented circumstances with far-reaching effects for everyone. Despite exhausting hours spent caring for us, the team here remains compassionate and professional. Patient welfare is consistently their primary focus. Regrettably, they occasionally receive unfair criticism and negative feedback from those who should be more thoughtful. Whilst this reflects modern life, such unjustified comments genuinely affect those targeted. Perhaps those quick to criticise might pause to consider how dependent we all are on the dedicated professionals at this practice and throughout the health service. Support the healthcare team here not just in words, but through genuine appreciation. Be thankful they're available to care for us.
