Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice with significant operational and service challenges that overshadow the clinical competence of some medical professionals. Booking appointments presents a major barrier, with patients reporting difficulty securing timely slots, restrictive calling windows, and long waiting periods ranging from days to weeks. Reception staff conduct is a consistent concern across reviews, with patients describing discourteous interactions, poor communication, dismissive attitudes, and lack of respect during phone and in-person contact. Medication processing and follow-up responsiveness are problematic areas, with patients experiencing delays in prescription fulfillment and unmet promises for callback communication.

While some doctors and nursing staff receive praise for their clinical competence and compassionate care, the administrative experience significantly undermines overall satisfaction. Patients report feeling like unwelcome inconveniences rather than valued service users, with reception personnel sometimes appearing to gatekeep access to medical care rather than facilitate it. Several reviews highlight the contrast between competent clinical staff and an inefficient, disorganised administrative function that creates barriers to accessing care.

A minority of reviews acknowledge positive experiences with specific reception staff members and express appreciation for exceptional clinical care, suggesting that service quality is inconsistent. However, the predominant pattern indicates systemic issues with appointment availability, reception courtesy, communication responsiveness, and organisational efficiency that require urgent attention to improve the patient experience.

Excellent!

Compassionate doctor who truly listens and helps

I visited Dr. Singh today for my 2.5-year-old child's appointment, and he was incredibly supportive, addressing every single question and worry I had about my daughter. Unlike previous pediatricians who seemed unhelpful, Dr. Singh is the first medical professional who has genuinely assisted me in initiating the diagnostic process for my child's condition. I am truly grateful for his expertise and dedication. I wholeheartedly give Dr. Singh a perfect 10/10 rating and strongly recommend him to any parents seeking thorough and compassionate medical care for their children. Thank you, Dr. Singh, for your outstanding support. Regards: Mah Noor ☺️

Professional medical staff let down by terrible reception

Truly, the medical professionals at this clinic are impressively competent and well-informed. However, the front desk staff are completely ineffective. They consistently attempt to overrule the doctors' recommendations. I've been contemplating switching healthcare providers for quite some time and never followed through. But after the recent disaster with scheduling and providing incorrect information, I've had enough. It's utterly frustrating. They seem oblivious that patients have work commitments and can't simply rearrange their entire day because of the receptionist's errors. They expect patients to physically come in and collect documents, despite having easily demonstrated during Covid that digital transmission is possible. We should be progressing technologically, not regressing. The entire approach makes patients feel like an inconvenience. I am profoundly and deeply disappointed with their service.

Terrible service and unprofessional staff at gp surgery

My interaction with this medical practice over the past week has been absolutely appalling, ranking as perhaps the most deplorable encounter I've had with an NHS healthcare provider in more than two decades. The front desk personnel are unquestionably the most discourteous, ill-mannered, ignorant, and heartless staff I have ever encountered. When I requested to be connected with the practice manager, I was left waiting on hold for 27 minutes, and subsequently another 35 minutes, only to be abruptly disconnected. The quality of service has noticeably deteriorated over the last three to four months. I will undoubtedly be submitting a comprehensive complaint to their commissioning body and the Care Quality Commission.

Terrible reception ruins healthcare experience

The medical professionals like doctors and nurses are pleasant, but the reception personnel are incredibly discourteous. I patiently waited in the waiting area to schedule my next injection appointment, and when my turn finally arrived, the staff member told me to return on Monday. I was bewildered, having already waited my turn, and asked why they wouldn't book my appointment. They claimed there was a queue, but I had already waited in line. Despite my reasonable request, they remained unhelpful. The rudeness extends to their telephone interactions as well. This reception team urgently needs to address their unprofessional conduct and improve their customer service approach.

Frustrated patient seeks better medical office communication

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT MEDICAL GUIDANCE FROM FRONT DESK STAFF, NOR INTERPRETATIONS OF MY MEDICAL SCANS. And these receptionists need to stop being so condescendingly dismissive or acting shocked that patients aren't mind readers when zero communication has occurred... and when someone mentions they're experiencing significant pain, a simple "We're sorry to hear that. How can we assist you today" would demonstrate basic human compassion. It's ELEMENTARY CUSTOMER SERVICE PRINCIPLES. As someone who also works in customer service, I'm astounded by their approach - they seem either emotionally detached or completely incompetent. Dealing with this medical practice is perpetually exhausting. Calling them is always a demoralizing experience where I feel diminished and like an unwelcome disruption. Specifically, the female receptionists are responsible for this terrible atmosphere, though that Asian gentleman is consistently courteous. They desperately need COMPREHENSIVE RETRAINING and should review their call recordings to understand their shortcomings.

Dangerous healthcare delay leads to emergency room visit

I'm giving a 1-star rating, and I'd give zero if I could. Following advice from 111 to urgently contact my GP, I was shockingly denied an emergency appointment by the receptionist, who claimed the next available slot was a week away. Absolutely unacceptable. After being dismissed as non-serious, I ended up going to the Emergency Department days later. The ED triage staff immediately criticized that I should have been seen much earlier. The receptionists were incredibly unprofessional and callous. This medical practice is completely unacceptable and potentially dangerous for patients' health and well-being.

Rude receptionists make patients feel completely helpless

The receptionist at this medical practice is absolutely terrible. They seem to deliberately create conflicts with patients just to end phone calls abruptly, claiming a "zero tolerance policy" today. When I called about my wife, who was suffering from a 39.7-degree fever, a persistent cough, throat pain, and dizziness, the receptionist's response was shockingly unprofessional. After I explained her symptoms, she questioned whether my wife had taken any medication, implying she might not be unwell. When I emphasized that she was indeed sick and needed medical attention, the receptionist became defensive, stating she wasn't a doctor. I requested an appointment, insisting she should document the symptoms and help schedule a consultation, but she became argumentative. She threatened to hang up if I continued to "talk like that," completely failing to provide any meaningful assistance. The entire staff behind the reception desk appears to behave as if they're untouchable, acting with an unwarranted sense of superiority.

Mixed experience with locums and unfriendly staff

The medical professionals are competent and striving to provide care under challenging conditions. Lately, every interaction or consultation has been with a temporary locum physician, which is somewhat demoralizing as I miss having a consistent GP who understands my medical history. The front desk staff are consistently discourteous, unwilling to acknowledge errors, and display an attitude of superiority. As a long-standing patient of over a decade, I've observed that the standard procedures have been abandoned due to the new reception team's persistently aggressive and unprofessional demeanor. Urgent improvements are needed; this practice has the potential to excel if the reception staff would recognize their role and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

Terrible service destroying my mental health journey

I placed an order for my medication several days ago, and it remains unready. I'm currently experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms and struggling with the most intense manifestations of my medical condition. Despite repeatedly requesting a repeat prescription through patient access, which has been unsuccessful, the staff have been unresponsive. If my emotional and mental well-being deteriorates during this challenging period, I will hold this medical practice responsible. They continue to use COVID-19 as an excuse to avoid in-person consultations, and they're failing to process email prescription requests or establish repeat prescriptions as requested. My work schedule completely overlaps with their office hours, making it impossible for me to visit in person without losing income - all because they cannot fulfill their basic professional responsibilities. It's no surprise their online ratings hover around two stars, given the doctors' apparent insensitivity towards mental health and their apparent inability to manage fundamental prescription services efficiently.

Rating this 1 star solely due to the reception staff's demeanor. Incredibly discourteous. She seemed inexperienced, which might explain her unprofessional approach. Horrible manager destroyed my healthcare experience

Sharon, the practice manager, displayed an appalling attitude during our phone conversation, being rude, condescending, and aggressive. She shouted and hurled unfounded accusations, completely shutting down any attempt for me to explain my side. Her demeanor was so hostile that I was left trembling and emotionally distressed after the call. Her communication was utterly unprofessional and demeaning. She baselessly accused me of dishonesty and fraud, clearly demonstrating her lack of understanding of the clinical commissioning group guidelines. Her actions seemed to stem from pure incompetence, ultimately causing unnecessary suffering for my already ill father. This incident significantly undermines the reputation of the practice and contradicts the doctors' efforts to provide quality patient care. While the other reception staff have been courteous, they are frustratingly unresponsive unless repeatedly contacted. The process of scheduling an appointment and reaching the practice via phone is extremely challenging and inefficient.

Frustrating communication and poor customer service

The receptionist displayed a complete lack of professionalism during my recent interaction. I had scheduled a medical consultation for my ill son, with the understanding that the doctor would contact me. However, they unexpectedly called my wife instead, causing us to miss the initial communication. Now, we're forced to reschedule and make another call tomorrow. What's more frustrating is that their staff failed to clarify which phone number should be used for the appointment and abruptly ended the call. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with this experience.
