Patient Experience Summary

Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience at this practice, with significant challenges in appointment access and reception courtesy overshadowing positive clinical care. The most consistent complaint concerns appointment availability, with patients reporting extreme difficulty reaching the practice by phone, lengthy queues, and frequent unavailability of same-day slots despite calling at opening times.

Reception experience emerges as a major concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous and dismissive behaviour from front desk staff, though some patients report courteous interactions. In contrast, medical professionals receive consistent praise for compassion, thoroughness, and supportive care, with several long-term patients highlighting exceptional clinical standards and continuity of care. The stark contrast between positive feedback about doctors and nurses and negative feedback about booking systems and reception suggests the practice's core clinical service is undermined by operational and communication failures that create significant barriers to accessing that care.

Endless calls, zero help, time to switch doctors

I've been a long-standing patient at this practice purely for convenience, but I'm thoroughly frustrated by the impossible task of booking an appointment by phone. It took me over 200 attempts to even get through to the call queue, only to be told no appointments were available that day. While I eventually managed to secure a slot for the following day, the constant struggle to reach the surgery by phone is unacceptable. General practitioners should provide ease and accessibility, not create additional stress that makes patients feel they might as well go to the emergency department. I'm seriously considering switching to another GP surgery. My sole complaint is their incredibly slow and inefficient call response system, which is genuinely terrible.

Heartbreaking lack of support during mental health crisis

I'm deeply troubled by my recent experience attempting to contact support during a critical moment of personal crisis. The automated message stating I'm "18th in queue" is utterly devastating, making me feel completely abandoned and hopeless. This situation has opened my eyes to the profound challenges faced by vulnerable individuals, particularly young people. The lack of immediate, compassionate assistance is deeply disturbing, and I now understand how someone might feel driven to extreme measures when feeling so unsupported and unheard.

Frustrating phone service that wastes your time

It's impossible to successfully schedule an appointment within that brief window. When they finally pick up the phone, it's already past 9, and they'll immediately inform you that it's too late to make a booking.

Frustrating phone system leaves customers hanging helplessly

I attempted to schedule a consultation by phone today, and after dialing 124 separate times, I never even managed to connect with an actual representative. One hundred twenty-four calls. Has our customer service really deteriorated to this frustrating level?

Frustrating gp phone appointments waste precious time

GP telephone consultations are consistently delayed, with patients enduring excessively long wait times frequently exceeding an hour. Calls are frequently disconnected, forcing individuals to restart the entire queuing process. The overall service quality is decidedly subpar and disappointingly inadequate.

Frustrating phone system prevents getting medical appointments

Their scheduling system is problematic. Despite being instructed to call for appointments at 8:15 a.m., the phone immediately switches to an automated recording, making booking virtually impossible. In the past two years, I've managed to secure just one appointment, and that was only because the doctor contacted me directly. None of my family members have fared better. With four children, I'm constantly forced to rely on walk-in clinics whenever urgent medical assistance is needed.

Endless wait for nothing at the doctor's office

Called the clinic at 8:14 am to secure a medical slot for my sick toddler. Languished on hold for nearly an hour as the first caller in line, only to discover at 9:03 that all consultation times were already booked. I'm completely baffled about the purpose of general practitioners anymore.

Frustrating phone system blocks urgent medical help

I've been attempting to contact the medical office repeatedly since last Friday, but I'm consistently met with an automated recording. It's crucial that I connect with an actual person to urgently obtain my Emergency Pack. If no staff member is available to assist me directly, I would greatly appreciate a resolution. Thank you.

Nightmare medical practice with zero customer service

I repeatedly called 50 times, only to be stuck in a queue and informed that no appointments were available. This is no exaggeration. Their answering machine advises against visiting in person to schedule appointments, yet I was then instructed to arrive at 8:15 and wait in line to book one 🤷‍♂️. They force patients to return the following day for a sick note, instead of handling it immediately, making you wait while they leisurely process paperwork at their own pace 🤬. It seems they deliberately enjoy squandering patients' time. The reception staff and doctor are discourteous and behave as if they're untouchable. The experience is incredibly frustrating. If you have any other options, steer clear of this medical practice.

Excellent!

Exceptional care through life's toughest medical journey

This surgery is exceptional: I've been a patient here for nearly a quarter-century. Despite battling metastatic cancer in my early 40s, from my initial GP visit at Millennium for a "lump" in Spring 2023 to confirming the cancer diagnosis in New Year 2024, the medical team has been extraordinary. They've provided comprehensive support - emotionally, physically, for minor health issues, and collaborating seamlessly with palliative care nurses who are now my primary medical contact. Before my cancer diagnosis, the GPs were incredibly thorough in investigating my mysterious pain and fatigue, understanding the significant mental health implications of persistent exhaustion. Throughout several major family crises involving my mother and brother, the practice has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment and compassion. The reception staff are remarkable (I'm puzzled by negative comments about them). My experience shows that when patients approach them with politeness, realistic expectations about waiting times, and genuine respect, they reciprocate with exceptional professionalism. Having lived in multiple cities temporarily, I can confidently say no other medical practice compares to Millennium. My current named GP is truly remarkable (recommended by Dr Wigley, who was my preferred GP for two decades). While I miss some of the former partners who have since departed, I'm hopeful my current GP remains. She's been phenomenal in managing my complex family medical history and navigating my cancer treatment. Millennium, thank you for everything.

Exceptional healthcare with compassionate and skilled doctors

I award this medical practice a perfect rating. I have been a patient here for a quarter of a century. The practice is truly outstanding. I'm anxious about potentially relocating because I'm uncertain whether I could find another healthcare provider with physicians of such exceptional quality, who are so innovative in their approach and meticulous in their patient care. I am profoundly disappointed that my longtime doctor, Dr Wigley, has now retired. She genuinely exceeded all expectations in her treatment of me. Fortunately, my newly assigned GP is equally remarkable.

Terrible medical service that wastes your time

This medical facility is absolutely terrible, ranking as the worst in the United Kingdom. Their availability is non-existent, and after spending an hour on hold, they simply tell you to call back tomorrow, repeatedly. This endless cycle continues, and even after two weeks, I still haven't managed to secure an appointment with a general practitioner.

Terrible service and impossible to see a doctor

Utterly appalling medical service. Wasted time standing in line only to be informed at 9:30am that there are zero appointments available for the day, no emergency slots, and no option to schedule a future consultation! Some of us have actual jobs and can't just lounge around waiting! It's absolutely unacceptable that patients can't access their own GP when medical attention is required. How did healthcare deteriorate to such an abysmal level! This broken system is precisely why emergency rooms are overwhelmed with minor health issues, as clinics are systematically refusing to see patients!!

Frustrating healthcare experience with impossible appointment system

Scheduling an appointment here is a nightmare. You're expected to call right when they open, but the moment you do, the phone lines are swamped. I've had to redial over 30 times just to get through, which is incredibly frustrating. Their current system desperately needs an update to allow patients to wait in a queue instead of constantly redialing. The registration process was equally challenging, taking a full month to complete. The reception staff are friendly and seem overwhelmed, but the overall experience is so cumbersome that I haven't even managed to see a doctor yet due to the immense difficulty in securing an appointment.

Worst medical practice ever causing serious health risks

I hesitate to rate them even one star. They repeatedly ignored medication requests from my consultant, who sent multiple faxes, emails, and letters over four months. They also refused to see my premature daughter and provide her medication, forcing the neonatal team to schedule an emergency appointment. Despite initially instructing us to come directly to them, they claimed they hadn't received a prescription from neonatal, which compelled my daughter to use hospital ward milk. Currently, they're blocking my access to her records on the NHS app, potentially delaying medication and medicated milk prescriptions that pharmacies don't typically stock. The receptionists are incredibly unprofessional; when challenged about their poor service, they respond with threatening letters accusing patients of abuse, when their own staff are the problem. I now require professional intervention to ensure we aren't removed from their patient list. Absolutely appalling - they're barely acceptable as a local medical practice.
