Feedback reveals a deeply divided patient experience at this practice, with significant challenges in appointment access and reception courtesy overshadowing positive clinical care. The most consistent complaint concerns appointment availability, with patients reporting extreme difficulty reaching the practice by phone, lengthy queues, and frequent unavailability of same-day slots despite calling at opening times.
Reception experience emerges as a major concern, with multiple accounts of discourteous and dismissive behaviour from front desk staff, though some patients report courteous interactions. In contrast, medical professionals receive consistent praise for compassion, thoroughness, and supportive care, with several long-term patients highlighting exceptional clinical standards and continuity of care. The stark contrast between positive feedback about doctors and nurses and negative feedback about booking systems and reception suggests the practice's core clinical service is undermined by operational and communication failures that create significant barriers to accessing that care.

Great!
Persistent patient finally reaches helpful medical team
The call waiting line was far too short, making it a real struggle to connect this morning - it took me 25 tries to finally get through. My elderly mother would have found this process completely impossible. Once I did reach someone, the receptionist was courteous and supportive. The doctor who returned my call was wonderfully kind and understanding, and they've confirmed my prescription will be ready later today. Much appreciation for their help.

Bad!
Terrible customer service wasted my entire morning
Utterly frustrating experience with their customer service. Began attempting to reach them at 8:20 in the morning. After navigating through an endless queue, finally got through at 8:66, only to be connected at 9:27 and immediately informed that no more appointments were available. This process is completely demoralizing and wastes everyone's time.

BadThey just don’t care
The surgery doesn’t care about its patients, you can never get through for an appointment, when you see a doctor they mostly don’t want to listen to you they just look for the quick fix and shove you out the door,my house bound father needed a home visit so when I requested this a doctor called and argued with me that I could take dad up to the surgery and that he wasn’t house bound cause he goes to dialysis three times a week (this happens by an ambulance crew carrying him out the hose and taking him via patient transport) but still she argued and eventually put the phone down on me,after two hours she phoned me back to say after discussing this she would arrange to visit but I had to call after eight on the morning to book the appointment and that she couldn’t do it,she then sent a locum to the visit rather than face me,the so called doctor barely looked at my father and couldn’t get out the house quick enough ,I have nothing good to say about them yet I’ve been with the practice my entire life.

Bad!
Terrible service and unprofessional healthcare experience
The front desk staff displayed an appalling lack of professionalism, and my partner and I endured an incredibly frustrating experience attempting to connect with their office, requiring a staggering 77 connection attempts across multiple devices. During my consultation, I was further dismayed when a male physician repeatedly disrupted my vulnerable discussion about my deteriorating psychological well-being. I strongly advise avoiding this medical practice entirely!

Excellent!
Exceptional gp practice with compassionate medical care
I'd rate my current GPs a resounding 5 stars, and honestly, they deserve 50 if such a rating existed. They've been extraordinary throughout my cancer treatment, navigating my complex medical conditions and a significant mental health crisis. Having been with this practice for 23 years, spanning various locations like Cambridge University, Leeds, and Sheffield, I'm so impressed that I won't even consider moving away, as I've never encountered another practice that matches their exceptional standard. Developing strong relationships with two GPs simultaneously is crucial, ensuring continuous, comprehensive care when one is unavailable, with both physicians understanding your complete family medical history. I acknowledge that some GPs unfamiliar with our family background have occasionally created challenging interactions, leaving me feeling frustrated or misunderstood. However, it's important to recognize the immense constraints they operate under: limited consultation time, strict professional protocols, and the inherent human element. New physicians can't instantly comprehend complex medical histories, and occasional misunderstandings are inevitable. Despite this, nearly all GPs I've encountered here over two decades have demonstrated genuine compassion. Those rare individuals who proved consistently incompetent or unprofessional were swiftly replaced, reflecting the practice's commitment to quality care in a complex medical landscape. (This explanation aims to counterbalance potentially unfair negative reviews from patients with limited interaction experience.) My primary and backup GPs are truly exceptional. I cannot overstate their value - if possible, I'd resurrect my previous retired physicians to work alongside the current team. Collectively, they are invaluable: diligent, compassionate, meticulous professionals navigating an exceptionally challenging primary care environment.

Terrible healthcare service with zero patient compassion
I chose this medical practice because of its proximity to our home for my partner's care, but I deeply regret not staying with my previous surgery that was over half an hour away. This place is consistently problematic. Securing an appointment is challenging, and the treatment quality is minimal at best. Despite urgent referrals being submitted for my partner, they've gone unprocessed. They've inexplicably removed my partner's life-sustaining medication from repeat prescription without any explanation. Out of all the doctors, only one has been genuinely helpful and kind; the rest interrupt conversations and fail to follow through on their commitments. The reception staff are particularly abrasive, displaying a complete lack of empathy and expecting patients to intuitively understand their complex administrative system. A recent phone interaction was infuriating - a 15-minute ordeal for a call lasting less than a minute, during which the receptionist treated us with condescension. Ironically, when calling their number, the automated message insists all initial contact must be via phone. I am utterly astonished that professionals in healthcare can demonstrate such profound indifference towards patient welfare.

Terrible service from receptionists ruins medical practice
Without a doubt, this medical practice ranks as the most subpar in Birmingham - the physicians and nursing staff are competent, but similar to numerous other patients, my spouse and I endured persistent verbal harassment from discourteous front desk personnel across multiple encounters, ultimately compelling us to abandon this clinic even during critical health circumstances. Their appointment scheduling process is utterly ridiculous - patients are compelled to telephone precisely at 08:15 (with the system rejecting calls even a minute early), and miraculously, at that exact moment, call attempts are systematically blocked due to supposed appointment unavailability. The sheer absurdity of such a system defies comprehension.

Poor!
Unhelpful staff ruin potential good medical experience
The medical staff here includes some excellent physicians, but the front desk personnel can be quite discourteous. When my mother was advised by her doctor to schedule a follow-up visit, she encountered resistance from the receptionist, who claimed it would be unfair to other patients. This reasoning seems completely illogical. My mother is currently struggling with significant mental health challenges, and the receptionists have a professional responsibility to demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients, which was clearly lacking in this situation.

Horrible medical practice with terrible customer service
I experienced harassment from the front desk staff, and when I expressed my frustration, they deliberately erased my entire medical record from their system. The medical professionals are equally incompetent. Despite being the sole patient in the waiting area, the receptionist spent an hour on the computer before addressing me. The entire situation is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I am prepared to pursue legal action due to their unauthorized deletion of my files, and I have documented evidence of phone conversations which I intend to present to law enforcement.

Terrible customer service and zero communication
Completely unimpressed by the lack of communication. Zero follow-up or engagement from their team, which left me feeling totally ignored and frustrated. Disappointing customer service that fails to meet even basic expectations of responsiveness.

Terrible service and impossible to reach medical practice
I've been a patient at this medical center for two decades but originally departed due to the receptionist team's poor demeanor. Against my better judgment, I re-enrolled about a year ago for proximity reasons. BIG ERROR. Despite having a roster of 9 physicians and a minimum of 3 front desk personnel, it still required 54 phone attempts and two hours of my time to connect this morning. I could elaborate extensively on my frustrations, but would it even make a difference? Frustrated, Maureen Folarin

Bad!
Terrible service and unhelpful staff at gp practice
Undoubtedly the most inadequate medical practice in Birmingham. While the medical professionals might be competent, their effectiveness is completely undermined by the impossibility of securing an appointment during critical periods. The front desk personnel consistently demonstrate a hostile attitude, and despite ongoing negative feedback spanning years, there appears to be total indifference to patient concerns. I'm absolutely delighted that I'm ultimately transitioning to a different healthcare provider and will permanently sever my connection with this deeply problematic practice.

Georgia Made My Medical Visit Delightful
At Millenium Medical Centre, the staff quality varies, but one nurse, Georgia, truly stands out. Her demeanor is exceptional - she consistently demonstrates kindness, politeness, and a cheerful attitude, always greeting patients with a warm, welcoming smile. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Georgia for her outstanding service.

Frustrating healthcare experience with limited appointment access
I genuinely appreciate my personal physician—she's truly exceptional—but the medical practice as a whole has seriously deteriorated. Securing an appointment has become nearly impossible. They instruct patients to call precisely at 8:15 am, yet getting through is a constant struggle. Even when you finally connect, you're met with repeated apologies and told no appointments are available. It's an exhausting and frustrating cycle of endless back-and-forth communication.

Great!
Frustrating phone system ruins otherwise great healthcare
Overall, the medical staff provide excellent care. However, the telephone system is problematic, with the practice's phone lines becoming immediately overwhelmed when they open. It's frustrating that the call capacity hasn't been addressed, as patients like myself end up being number 56 in the queue and ultimately choose to hang up. The clinic should increase the number of available appointments throughout the day to reduce the morning rush and alleviate the current telephone congestion.

Prescription nightmare at local medical practice
For approximately half a year, I've been experiencing difficulties obtaining my medication through repeat prescriptions, with the pharmacy blaming the surgery and vice versa. Recently, I spoke with a female receptionist and explained that I had mistakenly requested medication I already had, but needed my pain relief prescription. She assured me she would forward the request to the doctor that evening. However, when I contacted the pharmacy the following day, they had not received anything. Upon calling the surgery, a male staff member informed me that no action had been taken on my pain relief medication request. He asked if I knew the name of the female who was supposed to handle my request, but unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. At least now I understand that it's a female at the surgery reception causing issues with my prescription requests, not the pharmacy as I previously thought. I felt compelled to share this experience to alert others who might be encountering similar problems with the surgery's prescription management.
