Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a practice marked by significant operational challenges alongside pockets of clinical excellence. Appointment access remains the most consistently cited concern, with patients reporting difficulty securing same-day slots through phone booking systems that experience high call volumes and frequent disconnections. Reception experience emerges as a key pain point, with multiple accounts of discourteous interactions, lack of empathy, and invasive questioning about medical needs. Medication processing and referral management have also been problematic, with delayed referrals and prescription errors affecting patient care.

Conversely, clinical staff including doctors and nursing professionals receive substantial praise for professionalism, attentiveness, and compassionate care. Patients consistently commend the quality of medical consultations when appointments are secured, noting thorough assessments and genuine engagement. Several reviews highlight exceptional individual practitioners and the efficiency of procedures such as blood tests and ultrasounds.

The practice appears caught between systemic organisational constraints and capable clinical delivery. While staffing pressures and high patient demand clearly strain operations, the disconnect between reception and clinical standards suggests scope for service improvement in booking systems, staff training, and communication protocols.

Quick and efficient blood test experience

Arrived at the clinic well ahead of my scheduled blood test appointment. The staff were incredibly efficient, calling me in right away and completing the procedure swiftly. I was back home in no time. Absolutely seamless experience.

Exceptional medical care beyond my expectations

I genuinely have no complaints about this medical practice Whenever I contact them during the day, I'm able to secure an appointment, and if not, a physician reaches out to me Over the past week, they have been exceptional in their care for my daughter, both the doctors and nursing staff

Horrible healthcare experience with rude staff

Utterly Traumatic Encounter – Unprofessional Conduct and Substandard Patient Treatment I am compelled to share my harrowing experience at this medical practice on 4th August 2025, which has left me profoundly distressed and anxious about my medical care. At 2:30 PM, I telephoned the surgery and endured a 40-minute wait. When Erica finally answered, I carefully provided my personal information and detailed my health concerns. After being placed on hold for approximately six minutes, Lisa took over the call. Her demeanor was immediately hostile and contemptuous. Despite having access to my records, she demanded I repeat all my details and arbitrarily terminated the conversation, refusing to schedule an appointment. I was devastated, humiliated, and felt systematically marginalized. Desperate for clarity, I visited the surgery in person. Staff confirmed Lisa deliberately ended the call because she "didn't want to engage." Such conduct from healthcare personnel is fundamentally unacceptable. When I attempted to explain my need for confidential medical consultation with a physician, I was met with cold indifference and further discourtesy. A doctor subsequently approached me, spoke brusquely, instructed me to "sit down," and during my brief consultation, barely acknowledged my presence before declaring they couldn't assist me and abruptly departing. This represents a recurring pattern of significant issues at this practice. Despite previous formal complaints, no meaningful improvements have materialized. Having seven years of NHS experience, I comprehend systemic challenges — but this transcended mere administrative delays. This was a comprehensive failure of professional standards, empathy, and basic human dignity. I am now experiencing escalated physical symptoms and profound emotional exhaustion as a direct consequence of this interaction. Should my medical condition deteriorate due to this negligence, I am documenting this for potential future accountability. I urgently implore this medical practice to critically reassess its staff training and supervisory protocols. No patient should ever endure such dehumanizing treatment.

Worst medical experience ever terrible customer service

Terrible experience. After enduring a 25-minute wait and progressing to sixth in line, they abruptly terminated the call, forcing me to restart the entire process. This surgery is completely dysfunctional, and it seems like patients are at risk of being completely neglected and potentially facing life-threatening consequences due to their incompetence.

Terrible service from a frustrating local gp

Hands down, the most ineffective medical practice in Essex. Attempting to book an appointment is a nightmare—you're stuck in a queue at number 83, and after enduring endless waiting, you're told no slots are available for today. When you try calling at 8 AM the next morning, you're trapped in the same frustrating cycle all over again.

Dangerous medical mistake puts patient's life at risk

I am writing to formally express my serious concerns about my recent interaction at Mount Chambers Surgery. Yesterday morning, I attempted to book an appointment by phone, which involved being on hold for over 45 minutes. Ultimately, I was instructed to visit the dispensary in person regarding my repeat prescription. Upon arrival, I pressed the dispensary buzzer, and a staff member eventually emerged. She appeared distracted while on a phone call. When I explained my critical situation - completely out of my asthma inhaler and experiencing breathing difficulties - she demonstrated minimal empathy. Her attitude was dismissive and condescending, making me feel as though my medical needs were insignificant. I meticulously documented my personal details and medication requirements, even presenting my current inhaler as a reference. The staff member seemed to record the information accurately. However, when I collected my prescription from the pharmacy, I was inexplicably provided with a Salbutamol Sulfate Easyhaler (dry powder) - a medication I never requested or previously used. I strongly suspect this was an intentional error. Consequently, I am now experiencing severe respiratory challenges because this inhaler is inappropriate for my specific medical condition. My health is seriously compromised, and I am extremely distressed. Moreover, the staff member's communication was unprofessional and appeared discriminatory. I felt completely disrespected and marginalized during this entire interaction. I am urgently requesting a comprehensive resolution. My immediate needs include obtaining the correct medication and a thorough review of the staff member's conduct. The mishandling of my medical requirements is unacceptable and potentially dangerous. I'm RUWAN

Compassionate nurses helped me find my way

Over the past several weeks, I've been feeling lost and uncertain about my path forward. A standard diabetes appointment resulted in being connected with additional healthcare professionals. Every nurse I've encountered has been incredibly attentive and compassionate, truly hearing my concerns. I now have a clear strategy for my wellness and recovery. I'm genuinely grateful for their support and guidance.

Dangerous delay in critical breast cancer referral

If I could rate this lower than zero, I absolutely would! Utterly unprofessional. My wife sought an examination for potential breast cancer and was promised a specialist consultation within a fortnight. After waiting five weeks, she contacted the hospital only to discover that Mount Chambers Surgery hadn't even initiated the referral. Essentially, my wife was forced to arrange her own specialist appointment, rendering the GP completely ineffective and a total waste of critical time! Breast cancer is a grave medical condition, not some minor ailment. They desperately need to get their act together and actually perform the job we taxpayers are funding!

Nightmare customer service with frustrating phone system

The phone support system is absolutely dreadful. It's even worse than the previous version, which I didn't think could be topped. Now, after finally getting through, you're greeted with an irritating message - "Press * to cancel or hold for reception" Who on earth wants to cancel a service at 8 in the morning? Wouldn't it be simpler to just add a straightforward cancellation option or provide an email address for cancellations? The previous system seemed more user-friendly compared to this nightmare. It's INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. I managed to get through at 08:00:16 and was somehow 24th in the queue - HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!!?

Overworked staff struggle to meet patient needs

Commendable Personnel, Yet Overwhelmed by Challenges As reported by the Daily Telegraph. Take south London's scenario: specialized "walk-in centers" cater to asylum seekers and undocumented migrants, providing comprehensive health evaluations, minor illness treatments, and specialist referrals. Ironically, 15 percent of local residents faced delays of a week or more to secure a doctor's appointment in November. Mount Chambers consistently lacks physician availability for most inquiries... if the aforementioned information holds true, our healthcare service falls significantly short of expectations.

Friendly staff make healthcare challenges more bearable

Having resided in Braintree since 1991, I've observed the town's growth has become overwhelming. Securing medical appointments is challenging everywhere, yet the reception team consistently maintains a courteous demeanor. The staff have been welcoming to both myself and my wife, and when my mother relocated to this area, she too experienced quality care. Additionally, the pharmacy personnel have proven exceptionally supportive throughout our interactions.

Dangerous medical negligence at mount chambers surgery

MORE ADDED: TO ADD TO THE PREVIOUS- I was compelled to involve the medical ombudsman due to numerous care failures by MC. The Surgery's response was to remove me from their patient list, effectively leaving me without a GP to address my complaint. They claimed to have emailed me, yet despite having three appointments since the supposed email date, I never received it. When I requested confirmation of the email address, I discovered my medical information had vanished from their system. This medical practice is an absolute disaster for the community, and based on other reviews, I'm astounded they're still permitted to operate. December 2023: Denied an appointment for severe depression because it was December, and they only offer emergency slots during this month. Apparently, depression doesn't qualify as an emergency. June 2024: Following this incident, I've experienced several critical health issues, and Mount Chamber has been completely ineffective. Their staff demonstrate the most callous, indifferent attitude imaginable. The receptionist either ignores emails or fails to process referrals. I collapsed on the street last week, unable to obtain medical assistance, becoming so ill that as a 44-year-old mother, I was left struggling to breathe because Mount Chambers has repeatedly failed me. I wasn't considered sick enough for an appointment, and a referral meant to be processed three months ago was overlooked, leaving me off the specialist waiting list. I'm now terrified that my health is deteriorating, and I can't get any help from them. I'm afraid to leave home, fearing another collapse.

Exceptional medical practice. I've consulted with GP Dr Haughian, nurse Benedette, and an unnamed nurse practitioner who graciously accommodated me on short notice. Deaf patient struggles with medical communication barriers

Regrettably, I must share a frustrating experience regarding healthcare accessibility. As a Deaf person, I attempted to request a prescription renewal online. Rather than supporting my communication needs, I received a text prompting me to phone the medical practice. I clarified via email that telephone communication was impossible due to my hearing impairment. Subsequently, they directed me to email a specific contact. After following their instructions, I was then told to contact the doctor directly. Despite utilizing SignLive, which is typically reserved for work, I endured a 45-minute wait in the queue. Upon finally connecting with a receptionist, I was informed I needed a doctor's consultation. Surprisingly, they outright refused to provide a sign language interpreter, which constitutes a legal violation. I expressed my dismay and emphasized that I simply required a prescription refill. Nevertheless, they insisted I must bring my own interpreter. This entire interaction was not just time-consuming but also exposed a blatant disregard for accessibility and the communication barriers faced by Deaf patients.
