Terrible service and unhelpful staff at mulgrave road

During my time as a patient at Mulgrave Road Surgery between 2006 and 2009, I experienced a frustrating incident while trying to collect my routine levothyroxine prescription. The receptionist searched through the prescription drawer, then casually announced it was missing, offering no explanation for its absence. This unprofessional handling prompted me to permanently discontinue my association with the practice. Subsequently, my partner tasked me with scheduling his Warfarin blood test appointments, which proved to be an equally miserable experience. Consistently, there were no available time slots, and the receptionists displayed a notably unhelpful and impatient demeanor. The situation became so intolerable that my partner ultimately ceased attending the surgery altogether. My fervent hope is that, should I ever face a critical medical emergency, I am spared the prospect of seeking treatment within this country's healthcare system.

A teleconsultation with the doctor followed within 36 hours. This strikes me as an incredibly streamlined approach to handling non-urgent medical concerns. It's substantially more convenient than attempting to connect via telephone. I'm genuinely impressed. Given the prevalent criticism surrounding general practice and GP accessibility these days, I had initially harbored skeptical expectations. Today I visited the local GP's office for the second time, hoping to register, and once again encountered a hostile receptionist who was unhelpful and dismissive. The staff member was incredibly rude and refused to process my documentation. When they realized I was from Venezuela, their demeanor became even more unprofessional, sighing audibly and displaying clear contempt through eye-rolling. Despite claiming they would photocopy my papers, the receptionist made it clear they intended to block my registration to the medical practice.

If I could rate this service lower than the minimum, I absolutely would. For more than a month, I've been attempting to secure an appointment, only to be repeatedly informed that no slots are available and booking is impossible. Their approach requires calling at 8am and frantically competing with everyone else in the region for a same-day appointment. I'm left anxiously hoping that my health doesn't deteriorate further or, worse, that I don't succumb to my condition while waiting endlessly for medical attention.

Initially, some medical professionals are incredibly supportive, while others seem to rush through consultations and hastily prescribe medications or treatments without proper examination. In my eczema case, this approach proved extremely detrimental to my skin condition, a problem I only uncovered after persistently requesting a dermatology specialist appointment for three years. Moreover, the telephone staff are unquestionably the most discourteous individuals I've ever encountered. I cannot comprehend the mindset that allows such disrespectful treatment towards someone who is unwell and seeking assistance. Every single call results in an average wait time of an hour, and on the rare occasion one actually connects, the call invariably ends with the line being disconnected. The situation is utterly unacceptable. I fail to understand how they continue to operate with such unprofessional conduct. If they are unwilling to provide compassionate support in their professional role, they should seriously consider alternative employment.

As a newcomer to the neighborhood, I was eager to find a nearby medical practice, particularly with my 7-month-old in tow. Upon entering to collect new patient paperwork, I was initially met with an awkward encounter with another patient. However, the situation quickly deteriorated when the receptionist scolded me for bringing my stroller inside. Despite my apology and explanation that I was simply there to pick up a form, I was curtly reminded about a sign requiring strollers to remain outside. The interaction was far from welcoming, and I left feeling discouraged and disheartened by the unwelcoming reception. My hope for a friendly local surgery was dashed, and I've decided to seek out an alternative medical practice that offers a more compassionate approach to new patients.

The receptionist's demeanor was shockingly discourteous and dismissive, practically hanging up on me mid-conversation. Her abrupt attitude was so distressing that it actually worsened my already fragile state of mind. This isn't an isolated incident - I've encountered similar disrespectful behavior from the reception staff before. While I understand we're navigating challenging times during a pandemic, that should be precisely why compassion is more important than ever. It's crucial to remember that the individuals on the other end of the phone aren't just medical cases, but human beings potentially struggling with both physical and mental health challenges. The absolute minimum expectation is basic human kindness and respect!

Terrible reception staff ruined my healthcare experience

Absolutely dreadful treatment by the female staff at the front desk. They cut off phone calls abruptly when patients are trying to schedule appointments, display extremely unprofessional behavior, and force people to endure nearly half an hour of waiting just to book a consultation. When I was in the process of providing my personal information, they rudely terminated the call. I am completely determined to find a new general practitioner, and it's utterly unacceptable that no one addresses the ongoing misconduct of these reception employees!!!!
