My husband had arranged a physiotherapy appointment through our medical practice but was unable to attend because his health condition made travelling impossible at that time. Reception wouldn't arrange callback for prescription issue
I relocated from my previous practice some time ago and have generally had a satisfactory experience at this surgery. Today I attended for a routine appointment to discuss my ongoing back condition, which I understand will require ongoing management. My prescription was sent to my usual pharmacy. Upon visiting the pharmacy to collect my medication, I was informed they were unable to fulfil the prescription due to a current shortage affecting several pharmacies in the area. The pharmacy indicated they had already notified the practice of this supply issue. As a patient, I then needed to contact the practice to request an alternative formulation of my medication to ensure I could obtain what I need. When I called back, the receptionist advised that the clinician was unavailable and suggested I could wait in the call queue, though I requested a callback instead given the circumstances and the time I had already spent travelling. I was told there was no guarantee a callback would be provided that same day. I feel this places an unreasonable burden on patients to resolve issues that fall outside their control. I have concerns about how this approach might affect more vulnerable or elderly patients who may find it particularly difficult to navigate these situations.

Dr. Bashir Saved My Life During Tough Recovery
I am currently on my 36th day at Stoke University Hospital. I was admitted on June 4th and underwent extensive pancreatic surgery, being discharged on June 14th. After just two days at home, my condition rapidly deteriorated. I was called to the Mytton Oak practice to see Dr. Bashir, who went far beyond what was expected of him. I was urgently transferred to Shrewsbury Hospital and then back to Stoke University Hospital, where I remain today on my 36th day. I've experienced an incredibly challenging journey, but the experience was made more bearable by the exceptional dedication and support provided by Dr. Bashir. From the early days with Dr Bennett and nurse Jenny Mackintosh in the 70's and 80's, to more recent interactions with Doctors Macapadi, Palaniappan (Dr Mani), and their nursing staff, the team has consistently demonstrated professionalism and expertise. The absolute worst medical experience imaginable. From the front desk staff to the nurses who act high and mighty yet provide zero actual assistance. In reality, I encountered a nurse who was incredibly discourteous during a phone conversation and simply terminated the call abruptly. Never in my entire life have I been subjected to such appalling treatment. 😡😡😡
