A sensitive appointment, but handled well

I never go to the doctor - it's something that's uncommon for me. It feels very uncomfortable talking about health for me but the doctor was personable and listened carefully.

Reception dismissive about mould concerns and testing

During a recent appointment, my wife was informed that mould exposure has no health impact and that diagnostic testing is not available. This response was disappointing, as it seemed either dismissive of her concerns or reflective of a knowledge gap. I have since researched various testing options that appear to be available, including allergy blood tests, skin prick tests, mycotoxin panels, and blood tests for mould DNA. It is notable that my wife's colleague presented with comparable symptoms and received a different assessment from another GP practice, who considered mould exposure as a possibility and arranged for testing to be carried out. The initial response that testing was unavailable contrasts with the colleague's experience of having tests scheduled. Based on this encounter, I would suggest considering alternative appointments with other practitioners at the practice.

I'm generally puzzled by the critical feedback I've seen elsewhere. This GP practice provides excellent care. I've accessed their services for various health concerns, both physical and mental, and have consistently had positive experiences. Additionally, the integration with the NHS app has significantly improved my experience. The ability to manage repeat medication requests and schedule appointments through the app has made the whole process considerably more straightforward and accessible. Frustrating booking process and rushed appointment experience

I felt compelled to add further thoughts to my previous feedback as the situation is quite frustrating. I recently visited the practice to arrange an appointment. I was informed that bookings couldn't be made in person and that I would need to telephone instead, so I made a call from within the surgery to schedule a slot that was available within the hour. The whole experience felt rather exasperating. The appointment wait times are concerning. Once I was eventually seen, I attempted to raise an additional health matter with the clinician, who indicated that discussing it would depend on how much time it might require. While I recognise the considerable demands placed on healthcare professionals, I attend infrequently and this response has discouraged me from attempting to raise further concerns in future appointments.

Receptionists handled urgent calls with real compassion

I have had occasion to contact the practice several times over the past year, and particularly frequently during the last few weeks. The time taken for calls to be answered has been reasonable overall, and the majority of reception staff (though not every member) have been courteous and supportive. There was one staff member in particular whose name I regrettably did not obtain, who demonstrated exceptional compassion and helpfulness. They assisted with relaying messages to clinicians requesting callbacks and helped arrange urgent appointments, including both in-person consultations at the practice and home visits.

Reception contradicted itself on urgent appointment availability

My husband attended reception today and was informed that he requires urgent medical attention, however the earliest available appointment offered was six weeks away. Despite being told that he should be seen sooner, no alternative options were provided. It seems contradictory to advise that prompt attention is needed while being unable to facilitate this. I find this situation frustrating and concerning. I have previously switched to a different practice due to my own experiences with the management and staff at this surgery, and it appears the situation may have deteriorated further.

We were informed that travel immunisations are not currently available at this practice due to lack of facilities. It seems surprising that such a routine service isn't offered in modern times, particularly when the basic requirements appear straightforward. One would think that preventing potential health issues from overseas travel would be more cost-effective than treating serious illnesses after returning home. Given the size of this practice, one might reasonably expect a comprehensive range of services. When we asked for assistance, the receptionist suggested we search online for alternative providers in the local area, which felt like a somewhat limited response to our enquiry.

Excellent service this afternoon - I rang and was answered straight away by the receptionist who was very helpful and friendly. They took my details and within an hour I received a call from the GP with an appointment for later that day. The receptionist went over and above and also helped me with another query.

Medical notes weren't transferred despite multiple requests

Former patient who relocated more than a decade ago. I provided written consent, made multiple verbal requests by telephone, and discussed the matter in person with staff before my departure, yet I have since discovered that my medical records were not transferred to my new surgery. Throughout my time as a patient, I found the clinical staff to be dismissive, critical in their approach, and lacking in competence. I had previously believed the administrative and reception staff demonstrated at least a reasonable level of capability. Upon reviewing feedback from other patients, I notice that certain members of the clinical team remain in post. I find it difficult to understand how they continue to practice in this capacity.
