Disappointing decline in medical care quality

I've been a patient at this clinic since childhood, and while the care was excellent back then, it's a completely different story now. The receptionists act like they're medical experts, claiming to understand my long-term condition better than I do. The doctors, particularly Dr. Mather, seem perpetually irritable and rushed, with no genuine interest in patient care. If you're seeking compassionate medical attention, look elsewhere. While you might occasionally encounter a decent doctor, the overall quality of care is severely lacking. My experience has been deeply disappointing, especially compared to the standards I remember from years past.

Compassionate gp goes above and beyond expectations

I'm deeply impressed by the outstanding care and dedication at New Court Surgery, especially considering the immense challenges they face. During my recent hospital stay, I received a touching text from my GP, Dr Mather, who had heard about my admission and sent heartfelt wishes for my recovery. In my vulnerable condition, this gesture was so meaningful that it moved me to tears. I was battling pneumonia and was seriously unwell. The level of compassion shown by my GP went far beyond typical expectations. Every GP I've encountered has been incredibly professional, and the reception staff are remarkably efficient. The nurses and healthcare assistants are equally exceptional. Despite the overwhelming pressures on the NHS and particularly on GP practices, New Court Surgery consistently delivers an extraordinary level of patient care. I feel incredibly fortunate to be under their treatment and to benefit from their remarkable service.

The reception staff are inconsistent - sometimes they're incredibly supportive and kind, but more frequently they're irritable and unwelcoming, creating an atmosphere that makes patients feel uncomfortable. In my professional experience in care work, I always strive to maintain a positive demeanor, and I believe medical receptionists should adopt a similar approach of consistent courtesy and helpfulness. Moreover, I take serious issue with doctors who attempt to diagnose patients without a proper examination. In my recent experience, a physician made an incorrect assumption about my condition, which ultimately exacerbated my discomfort. This approach is unacceptable and potentially harmful to patient care.

I can't help but feel that the reception staff at New Court Surgery could benefit from a more welcoming demeanor. Each interaction leaves me with an uncomfortable sense that I'm an inconvenience, almost as if I've committed some unspoken transgression. Their facial expressions are consistently somber, devoid of even the most basic friendly gesture like a warm smile. I'm left wondering if they've been specifically trained to maintain this uninviting attitude 🤷🏻‍♂️. Terrible service that left me completely frustrated

Promised a sick note for my employer, but they completely dropped the ball. I repeatedly followed up, yet received no response. When I finally got through, I was rudely dismissed when requesting the note be sent by midday to prevent losing pay. The staff member I spoke with was instantly confrontational and defensive, refusing to provide her colleague's name or allow me to file a complaint, citing her inexperience (which doesn't excuse her behavior). She callously suggested that the waiting room full of patients was more important than my ability to heat my home for my children, then abruptly ended the call after whispering to a colleague. To make matters worse, she eventually sent the sick note with an incorrect date, arriving 2.5 hours late - which seemed intentional. I've demanded the call recording and am prepared to pursue legal action if necessary. The entire experience was absolutely disgraceful. I've immediately switched medical practices and filed a formal complaint with the practice manager. I've also warned them that any communication outside of the manager will be considered harassment. I cannot fathom how these staff members can live with themselves after such unprofessional treatment.

Frustrating weekend but nurse saves the day

I rarely complain about medical services, but after enduring a weekend of intense gastrointestinal distress and desperately seeking guidance, I called at 7:59 AM only to find all appointments were already booked—how is this even possible??!! I did eventually connect with a nurse clinician, and I genuinely appreciate the challenges facing the NHS, especially given my sister's 30-year background as a specialist nurse in Worcester. However, the 111 service failed to handle our calls, leaving us extremely anxious throughout the entire weekend. Surely it should be feasible to ensure basic call coverage at the very least. On Tuesday, December 20th, following three challenging weeks, I consulted Marianne since no GP was available. I cannot praise her highly enough, and I'm already feeling significantly more optimistic—thank you.

After waiting 25 minutes, finally connected, but learn the physician won't be accessible for another 5 days. Since this is the specific doctor handling my test results, I'm reluctant to rehash my medical details with a different healthcare provider. The entire experience falls well short of acceptable service.

Unfortunately, service quality has steadily deteriorated since the pandemic disrupted normal operations. Over the past week, I've attempted to schedule an appointment to discuss a simple prescription modification, spending two mornings waiting on hold for over an hour before ultimately giving up due to overwhelming stress. While I'm personally resilient, I'm deeply concerned about elderly and vulnerable patients who must navigate such challenging communication barriers. The current appointment system is fundamentally broken. I genuinely miss the era of in-person medical consultations, where sitting directly across from a healthcare professional provided genuine comfort and connection. The potential permanent loss of face-to-face interactions is genuinely frightening. In one particularly distressing recent experience, a doctor abruptly cut me off mid-explanation, citing time constraints, which was emotionally devastating and triggered significant personal distress. I sincerely hope meaningful improvements are forthcoming, as these are truly unsettling times for patient care.
