Patient Experience Summary

Patient feedback reveals a divided experience at this practice, with significant concerns about communication and consultation quality dominating recent reviews. Multiple patients report condescending and dismissive attitudes during consultations, with particular frustration around rushed phone appointments where doctors interrupt, talk over patients, and show minimal engagement with concerns. Appointment access presents ongoing challenges, with patients describing week-long waits for phone consultations and difficulties securing in-person visits, compounded by reception staff occasionally displaying unprofessional behaviour. Concerns about listening skills and respect for patient autonomy appear consistently across feedback, with some patients reporting that symptoms were trivialised or that clinical decisions felt dismissive of their input.

Positive feedback highlights the reception team's professionalism and courtesy, alongside recognition of strong diagnostic expertise and medical knowledge from certain clinicians. Some long-standing patients praise composed, precise approaches to healthcare management and efficient referral processing. However, these positive elements are substantially outweighed by concerns about the overall care experience, particularly regarding how patients feel treated during consultations and the accessibility of appointments. The shift toward phone-only consultations has intensified frustration, with patients noting the limitations of remote assessment and the difficulty in obtaining thorough clinical evaluation without in-person examination.

Frustrating wait times at the clinic now

Quality has seriously declined after Dr. Skelly's departure. Now it's impossible to secure a same-day telephone consultation, which is incredibly frustrating.

Dr. Skelly's Spot-On Diagnostics Saved Me

Throughout my long-standing relationship with Dr. Skelly, I cannot express enough gratitude for his composed and precise approach to managing my health concerns. His diagnostic skills are truly exceptional, which is precisely what one seeks in a primary care physician. Despite always being incredibly busy, he never compromised the quality of his medical care. As a bonus, his staff at the reception are equally delightful and professional.

Terrible GP Who Never Calls Back

Steer clear of this general practitioner at all costs. The negative feedback is spot on - this doctor is terrible during phone interactions and seems eager to rush you off the call. Scheduling a phone consultation takes an entire week, and even then, there's no guarantee they'll actually reach out. Their bedside manner is appalling, showing complete indifference to patient concerns and displaying an unprofessional attitude. This healthcare provider is utterly incompetent, and I strongly recommend finding a different medical professional. If the rating system allowed it, I would assign zero stars without hesitation.

Worst Doctor Visit Ever at Local GP

The DR exhibits an unprecedented level of arrogance, ignorance, and disrespect that I've ever encountered. His professionalism is non-existent, and I'm baffled by the institution that granted him a doctorate. He's a complete mockery of a medical professional. Deeply judgmental and racist, he lacks the basic ability to listen and primarily focuses on avoiding patient interactions. I'm utterly perplexed as to how this GP practice remains operational. He is, without doubt, the most repulsive doctor I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. If I could assign zero stars, I absolutely would! It's incomprehensible why he continues practicing when his reviews clearly demonstrate he's helping no one. Truly the most revolting medical practitioner imaginable.

Long-Time Patient, Now Deeply Disappointed

Been a patient at this medical center since childhood, long before it became New North Health Centre. I even knew the main receptionist (though I'm unsure if her name was Pauline or Michelle) who was incredibly helpful, especially when Dr Skelly treated me for chicken pox during my secondary school years. My connection to this practice runs deep. Recently, I've been experiencing health anxiety, repeatedly contacting A & E and 111, all of whom directed me back to Dr Skelly as the gateway to further assistance. However, each of our recent interactions has paradoxically increased my anxiety rather than alleviating it. The practice now exclusively offers phone consultations, making it virtually impossible to have symptoms thoroughly examined in person. While I acknowledge COVID has transformed healthcare, this doesn't justify Dr Skelly's subpar telephone manner. For anyone considering registering with this practice, my advice is don't - particularly if you're joining now. Dr Skelly's phone demeanor is consistently arrogant and dismissive, showing minimal concern for patient well-being. He rushes conversations, appears eager to terminate calls, and treats patients condescendingly, trivializing symptoms regardless of their significance. These interactions have consistently left me emotionally distressed, negatively impacting my mental health. The sole marginally positive aspect is Dr Skelly's efficiency in arranging my ultrasound referral and minor surgery. However, this feels half-hearted, as I suspect the in-person follow-up was merely to expedite getting me off his phone. Perhaps I'm being overly sensitive or unreasonable, acknowledging the pandemic's challenges. Nonetheless, after years of loyalty, I can no longer remain with this practice - a realization that genuinely saddens me, especially considering Dr Skelly's longstanding connection to my family. I strongly recommend patients explore alternative options. While another practice might offer similar service, the potential for improvement makes changing worthwhile. The process is straightforward and could significantly enhance your healthcare experience.

Male Doctor Dismissed My Serious Concerns

I concur with the critical remarks about this physician based on my personal encounter: The sole male doctor consistently interrupts, talks over patients, and makes them feel unintelligent and unnecessarily anxious. He neglected to submit a hospital referral for my medical concern and subsequently attempted to shift blame onto me for not "tracking the referral's progress". The current hospital appointment waiting period is an astounding 42 weeks. I would have already been seen had he properly processed the initial referral. His suggestion of a cancer-rush referral seemed manipulative, disregarding that such an approach displaces potentially urgent cancer patients. Moreover, if my condition proves non-cancerous, I would be relegated to the end of an already interminable 42-week waiting list. No form of apology or acknowledgment was ever extended, particularly not by him. I will be transferring to another medical practice and strongly advise against registering with this clinic.

Rushed Irish Doctor Dismissed My Concerns

I recently had a telemedicine consultation with an Irish male physician, and I strongly recommend steering clear. His demeanor was incredibly off-putting - extremely discourteous, pompous, and completely unhelpful. I've been struggling with a persistent cough, and his sole advice was to continue my current approach: maintain throat moisture and consume an antihistamine daily for a month. The entire interaction was utterly pointless. The consultation lasted barely 5 minutes, with him initiating the call 30 minutes ahead of schedule and appearing impatient throughout. His rushed attitude was palpable. I walked away from the appointment feeling emotionally deflated and entirely disregarded.

Terrible GP practice with no in-person care

Never encountered a medical practice that refuses in-person appointments and solely offers phone consultations. I'm questioning the purpose of even visiting this clinic. When I called to report my infant's illness, I was directed to the emergency line until I specifically requested to speak with a doctor. The receptionist's behavior was entirely unprofessional.

Rude Doctor Ruined My Healthcare Experience

Prior to my switch, I encountered multiple unsatisfactory interactions with this medical practice. The physician demonstrates an extremely condescending, aggravating, and inappropriate approach - consistently failing to genuinely engage with patients and rushing through consultations with superficial attention. During one appointment, he was overtly disrespectful, and when I sought clarification about his behavior, he inappropriately invoked "linguistic diversity" with a distinctly discriminatory attitude. I am genuinely perplexed how individuals like these can be considered healthcare professionals, and seriously question whether they should continue working in roles requiring direct patient interaction.

Arrogant Doctor Ruined My Healthcare Experience

I concur with the previous comments. The doctor came across as conceited, discourteous, and condescending. As a result, I've switched to a different medical practice and consulted another physician, which reminded me how compassionate healthcare professionals can be. Despite the doctor's attitude, the remaining staff members are absolutely delightful.

Dismissive Doctor Made Me Feel Awful

The physician is absolutely terrible. Completely uncooperative and condescending, with zero interest in hearing my concerns. Despite my infrequent visits to the general practitioner, he mockingly disregarded my explanation, casually dismissed my symptoms, and smugly declared me healthy simply because I "looked" fine, telling me to just calm down. His patronizing attitude and brusque, insensitive communication were appalling. I departed the medical office feeling utterly frustrated and deeply distressed. I strongly advise against consulting this healthcare provider.

Trusted Doctor for 25 Years

Michelle at the front desk strikes the perfect balance of warmth and professionalism, mercifully free from the artificial empathy training that often sounds so forced. Dr. Skelly is equally genuine, focusing on solid medical expertise rather than theatrical bedside manner. His approach is straightforward yet wonderfully engaging - and while I can't claim medical expertise myself, the fact that I've been his patient for a quarter-century speaks volumes about his skill and reliability. He handles complex medical challenges with both competence and a delightful sense of humor.
