During my consultations with Dr Gwyther and Nurse Jo, I found the interactions highly educational, and it was evident that the staff genuinely cares about their professional expertise. My past interactions, including prescription management and communication methods, have been consistently well-organized, whether conducted face-to-face, via telephone, or through text. Additionally, both the front desk personnel and the digital booking platform are user-friendly and straightforward to navigate.

Friendly doctors at convenient bath surgery

I've been a patient at Newbridge surgery for slightly more than three years, and without a doubt, they are the most exceptional medical practice I've encountered in Bath or any other location. Every doctor and staff member has consistently demonstrated helpfulness and support, and I've always managed to secure an appointment when required. While I find the online triage system somewhat challenging due to occasionally irrelevant questions, someone has invariably reached out to me, and there are no frustrating, lengthy telephone queues. Additionally, the surgery itself is well-lit and situated in a highly accessible area. I would unequivocally recommend their services.

Filled in on-line forms at 15.30, was telephoned at 16.15 and offered an appointment at 17.30, which I took. Problem identified, medicine prescribed and emailed instantly to adjacent pharmacy from where I collected it at 17.50. I think that's excellent.

Quick help for my swollen bite

Following a problematic insect bite, I sent an email in the afternoon, and within 45 minutes, I received a phone call scheduling me an appointment for later that same evening. The service was truly outstanding, with incredibly friendly and skilled professionals. This experience far surpassed my previous medical encounters in Bath, proving to be superior in every way!

Caring doctors who really listen

I've been receiving care at Newbridge surgery my entire life, and it's absolutely exceptional. Managing a chronic health condition, I've found their approach incredibly supportive and forward-thinking - especially from Dr Boyd, Dr Calindrini, and Sister Jo Wilson. Their expertise extends beyond my own care to my toddler as well. They handle every medical concern with the utmost seriousness, and scheduling appointments is remarkably efficient. Dr Frere, who serves as her primary physician, is truly outstanding. While many are quick to voice criticisms, I believe it's crucial to also highlight positive healthcare experiences. My heartfelt appreciation goes to Newbridge Surgery!

Nurse instead of gp at newbridge surgery

My husband and I recently relocated to Bath and signed up with Newbridge Surgery. Generally, they're quite decent (considering the current state of underfunded and overworked GP practices), and unlike other clinics, they actually answer the phone and provide appointment slots (albeit with a month-long waiting period). However, I recently experienced significant frustration when I booked an appointment for my husband Lewis, explicitly requesting to see a GP. The receptionist confirmed he would see a "lady doctor," and we were content to wait a month. The consultation itself seemed fine, and we met a woman named Jo Wilson, leaving feeling reassured. It was only during my subsequent midwifery appointment that I discovered, via staff photographs, that Jo Wilson is actually a nurse practitioner, not a GP. When I raised this concern at the reception, I was curtly told that "nurse practitioners can perform GP and nursing roles". While I deeply respect nursing professionals, as a patient, I believe we should have been informed that we were seeing a nurse practitioner instead of a GP, especially since we specifically requested a doctor. Nurse practitioners simply do not have the equivalent level of medical training. At minimum, we should have been consulted about our comfort with seeing an NP instead of a GP, particularly given our month-long wait for this appointment. Being completely uninformed and then dismissively handled without an apology is completely unacceptable. I strongly advise other patients to be vigilant when scheduling appointments and ensure they are seeing a healthcare professional appropriate for their specific medical needs.

Rude gps made my mental health worse

If you struggle with mental health, steer clear of this practice at all costs. The general practitioners are dismissive and discourteous, constantly referring you to ineffective charities and suggesting you go private when you return. They've kept me trapped in an endless loop for years. If you want even minimal consideration regarding medication, seek help elsewhere. I've developed bilateral tinnitus due to their careless prescription approach. During consultations, they seem completely disconnected from the purpose of your visit. Making a complaint is unnecessarily complicated - you must use personal holiday time to call, as the complaints handler refuses contact after 3 PM. Their service standards are appallingly inadequate, and they're fully aware the referral services are substandard. They've only recently started recording calls (in the last 6-8 months!) and incredibly, my complaint will be reviewed by the same person I'm complaining about - essentially self-auditing with no external accountability. They recognize their service is catastrophically poor but appear indifferent, acting like privileged professionals disconnected from patient experiences. Despite patients being under their care, they're shockingly unconcerned about deteriorating health. Their solution? A therapist available privately for £100 per hour - if you can afford it. Those who can't are simply abandoned, even when expressing severe mental distress. But hey, as long as they're getting paid, who cares, right?

Mental health care was deeply disappointing

If you're struggling with mental health challenges, steer clear of Newbridge surgery. Their approach is utterly dismissive - they'll simply funnel you into a bureaucratic system, and when that inevitably fails, they'll wash their hands of you with a casual shrug, offering no follow-up or genuine support. They're perfectly happy to handle routine matters like flu shots or basic asthma treatments. However, their complete inadequacy in addressing mental health concerns is likely symptomatic of broader systemic failures. One would hope that general practitioners would be more committed to patient welfare than hiding behind administrative red tape. The reception staff are a mixed bag. One staff member is pleasant and helpful, while another seems more interested in obstructing patients than assisting them. This individual even goes so far as to dispense unsolicited and inaccurate medical advice, such as claiming prescription hayfever tablets don't exist, and appears to view their role as a gatekeeper rather than a facilitator of public healthcare.
