Absolutely appalling service

Impossible to get an appointment. When calling in I was told to use the patches system. The doctor saw this and just closed it down without anyone speaking to me. I explained my symptoms and asked to be seen, no contact from the surgery at all. I tried to get seen at a walk in centre at Dewsbury hospital but was told it could take all night to get seen, so I had to give up. I work full time so couldn't do that. I ended up in Huddersfield A&E this weekend do to my symptoms getting far worse. I feel I should complain officially but I doubt it would change anything. The service from this surgery isn't just bad, it's putting patients in danger. I have requested a change in GP. Avoid this surgery if you possibly can.

I visited the clinic last week due to a respiratory ailment and a couple of other concerns. It was incredibly exasperating that during my brief ten-minute slot, I was only allowed to address a single issue. The physician spent merely sixty seconds on my primary reason for the visit, then proceeded to consume the majority of our time lecturing me about how my weight was the root cause of my chest infection. They went on about weight loss strategies and insisted on ordering blood tests for diabetes, as apparently no one at the practice had conducted a review or bothered to do so in the past four years. Essentially, MY allocated appointment time was hijacked to address their own incompetence and clinical negligence, which they attributed to a shortage of nursing staff. It felt like my health concerns were sidelined in favor of their administrative shortcomings.

For the initial 20 minutes, I was informed that I held the position of "second caller in the queue." As time dragged on, I eventually advanced to become the "first caller in the queue," where I remained for what felt like an eternity. To my utter dismay, after enduring a mind-numbing 47-minute wait, I was finally connected to a representative. However, the information I received was far from satisfactory. They nonchalantly informed me that they had recently altered their policies and no longer process repeat prescriptions via telephone. Apparently, I was expected to have physically visited the surgery and noticed a sign detailing this significant change in procedure. The entire experience left me feeling frustrated, inconvenienced, and questioning the establishment's commitment to patient care and effective communication.

Despite being examined by a physician who acknowledged my agonizing infection and the necessity for antibiotics, I was left in limbo. No communication, no medicine. Hours dragged by until 18:05, during which I repeatedly called and twice physically returned to the surgery, desperate for relief. Even then, there was a baffling lack of urgency in dispensing the required medication. This level of negligence and indifference is truly alarming for a healthcare provider.

I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough. It seems some of the older reviews may not reflect the current state of affairs. The reception staff are exceptionally compassionate, thoughtful, and profoundly respectful - a stark contrast to my previous practice, where the front desk team's behavior was frankly unacceptable and prompted my decision to switch. My experience here has been exemplary; I was attended to promptly and professionally, with necessary tests and scans at HRI arranged within a fortnight. I implore this surgery to maintain their current approach, continuing to treat patients with the utmost care and respect. They're doing an outstanding job and are truly a credit to the NHS. My spouse received inaccurate dosage instructions for a prescription from our local pharmacy. Upon seeking clarification at the surgery, we endured a prolonged wait and persistent follow-ups, only to be informed that the surgery's dosage was correct and the pharmacy was mistaken. Adhering to their guidance, my partner experienced the very symptoms the pharmacy had cautioned about due to excessive intake. Returning to the surgery, our concerns were initially dismissed. Fortunately, a passing doctor overheard and confirmed that the dosage advice was indeed incorrect, finally providing the proper instructions. This isn't our first encounter with issues at this surgery, unfortunately. We're now actively seeking an alternative healthcare provider as soon as possible.
