Practice refused reasonable adjustments for housebound patient
I have a disability related to a long-term mental health condition that significantly restricts my ability to leave home. I felt that my requests for accessibility support were handled in a way that seemed dismissive and potentially failed to meet the duty to make reasonable adjustments under equality legislation. When I first explained my need for home-based care arrangements, reception staff questioned whether I was genuinely housebound. This felt like an inappropriate clinical judgement for non-clinical staff to make, and it was distressing and dismissive. I requested home blood tests as a reasonable adjustment, since attending appointments in person is not realistically possible for me due to my condition. Previous healthcare providers have accommodated this without issue. Blood tests are a fundamental part of healthcare access, not an optional extra. However, the practice declined this adjustment and offered alternatives that did not address the core barrier I face as a housebound patient. The complaint process itself was problematic. After the practice asked for further evidence, I experienced significant delays in receiving updates. The complaint took months to progress, and when the Practice Manager eventually responded, they closed the matter at practice level and declined further discussion, directing me to external escalation routes instead. I was also asked not to use the Practice Manager's direct email and to use generic contact channels, which felt like a dismissal rather than genuine support. I still have not found a workable way to access the tests I need. This is not an isolated incident. Following a previous complaint, the practice committed to taking reasonable adjustments seriously and improving communication accessibility. Yet the same issues have emerged again when it comes to accessing essential investigations. The suggestion that I might register elsewhere felt less like helpful guidance and more like an indication that the practice was unwilling to adapt to meet accessibility requirements. This experience has left me feeling treated as a problem rather than as a patient deserving of care. A GP practice should be a gateway to healthcare. When a practice appears reluctant to implement reasonable adjustments for a housebound disabled patient, that raises serious concerns. I am sharing this because I would not want other disabled patients to face similar experiences. Visited the local surgery in the afternoon and requested an appointment. I was advised to submit a photo through the online consultation system, which I did once I got home. Within a few minutes, a clinician called me back, and following our discussion, I was asked to attend the nearby medical centre. After being examined and reassured by the healthcare professional, I was able to head home by early evening. I'm genuinely grateful for the NHS and the excellent care provided at no direct cost. I would willingly contribute more in taxes to maintain such a valuable service. Thank you.

A disappointing experience with unhelpful service. I was unable to obtain support for my annual wellness and work-related documentation request, which was declined—the first practice in two decades to refuse this. Rather than arranging an in-person appointment as would be appropriate, the decision was communicated by email without discussion. The practice holds accreditation indicating they should be equipped to meet the needs of individuals with specific healthcare requirements, yet they fell short of expectations in my case. I am now looking to switch to a more suitable practice in the area and hope for a more positive outcome elsewhere.

Prescription subscription left incomplete and delayed
The prescription was submitted once more, but it was only partially processed. We had to obtain spare medication from a friend to manage in the interim, which we have not yet returned since the prescription was not completed in a timely manner. The new prescription begins a fresh reorder window, meaning we should not face a gap in medication supply due to administrative delays in authorisation for dispensing. We had coordinated everything to be ordered together to minimise collection visits and travel expenses. The medication will run out tomorrow. This situation has caused unnecessary concern regarding my wife's wellbeing.

Prescription delayed despite promised quick turnaround
Partner's repeat medication request was not processed. Upon contacting the surgery, I was informed that an appointment would be necessary before the prescription could be renewed. An appointment was scheduled, during which blood pressure was checked and I was assured the prescription would be sent immediately. However, the prescription was not sent, and by the time the weekend arrived, a week's worth of medication had been missed. While the medication in question is not critical, I remain disappointed by the poor communication throughout this process and the failure to follow through on what was committed to.

Reception staff were rude and unhelpful throughout
I have had an extremely disappointing experience with this surgery. During my first month as a patient, several significant issues occurred: 1) my address was recorded incorrectly on multiple occasions, which caused concern regarding the security of my personal information while I was awaiting important results; 2) when I booked an appointment expecting to see a doctor, I was instead scheduled with a different healthcare professional without any prior notification, leaving me confused about the arrangement when I arrived; 3) I discovered during my appointment that relevant medical records from my previous provider had not been transferred, making the visit largely unproductive; 4) I found the reception staff to be unhelpful and discourteous on several occasions; 5) I received a phone call from reception staff who appeared to have contacted me in error and were preparing to discuss another patient's details, which raised serious concerns about information handling procedures. I cannot recommend this practice.

I had been experiencing issues with my menstrual cycle and was given a medication that proved ineffective for my situation. I scheduled a follow-up appointment with a different clinician, hoping for a different approach. During the consultation, I felt that my concerns were not being properly heard and that there was a lack of genuine engagement with what I was trying to communicate. When I later collected my prescription, I discovered that I had been prescribed the same medication that had already failed to help me, which was the primary reason for my visit.
