Booked surgery then missed my appointment date
I attempted to schedule a surgical consultation through phone and online channels without success, so I resorted to traditional letter writing. The reception staff eventually called me back to set up an appointment... victory!!!! An appointment was confirmed for August 1st at 2 PM - fantastic! I received text confirmation and a subsequent reminder text - things were looking promising! I arrived 10 minutes early on August 1st and attempted to check in. The computer system rejected my entry. I approached the reception desk. The receptionist emerged from her office with just one minute to spare😬 She claimed ignorance about my visit, insisting my appointment was actually on August 4th. I pulled out my text messages to verify. While we were discussing this, three additional messages arrived confirming the August 4th date!!! I explained I couldn't make that date, so now I'm back to waiting in line! I had to remove myself from the situation, telling her not to even bother continuing. Completely ridiculous!!

After 3 days of chronic diarrhea I rang Oakside surgery on Thursday 25th June. The AI answerphone message was extremely long, with 2 options. Neither one was an option to speak to a person to book an appointment. This is relatively new. I was stunned. How do I make an appointment I thought? I rang back and chose 1 of the 2 options. The receptionist, (when she answered)said she couldn't make an appointment so I had to use the online form. I said I couldn't so she said she'd do it. I'd get a text for an appointment at GPs or pharmacist. I had to see a pharmacist. Stunned by this, and realising once again it was via technology, I waited. The next day 26th, my husband went to 2 pharmacies, both could only offer immodium. However, the 2nd one thought it was serious as I was still suffering, and also said there was a prescription item that was better but he couldn't let him have it. This is highly discriminatory. Not only are patient being pushed out, away from a GP which is their right, but having to pay for medication or go without. If my symptoms hadn't improved we were going to have to go to hospital today. Surely this isn't right? It's a waste of resources.

Poor customer service at the front desk
I entered the reception area and found myself alone with two employees focused on their computer screens. For an extended period, neither of them acknowledged my presence. Eventually, the older woman glanced up, offering no apology or indication that she would attend to me shortly. After she departed, the younger receptionist continued to disregard my existence. When she finally looked up, I was able to address my concerns. Upon completing my business, I highlighted to her that a simple courtesy of looking up, apologizing, and assuring me she would assist me momentarily was not an unreasonable expectation.

Frustrating reception and missed medical care
Chaotic, poorly managed, and antiquated. The medical practice lacks basic communication technology like email for patient records. Single star for the staff's effort. Competent nurses and doctors with well-intentioned reception staff, though clearly overwhelmed and inadequately trained. The front desk environment is stressful, but they do attempt to assist when possible. I'm planning to change healthcare providers soon. UPDATE: This incompetently operated medical practice has directly triggered a complete and extremely distressing multiple sclerosis relapse. Had they addressed even a FRACTION of my urgent requests in 2023, I would not currently be experiencing this severe health crisis. Patients with complex medical conditions should absolutely avoid this surgery. They are fundamentally incapable of providing proper medical support.

ABSOLUTE WORST MEDICAL PRACTICE. While the physicians are acceptable, the front desk personnel are utterly deplorable. They consistently huddle in the back room, chattering loudly enough for patients to hear, yet completely ignoring their responsibilities. I've personally observed elderly patients, struggling to remain standing, forced to wait for an excruciatingly long 30 minutes before ultimately giving up and departing. My own experience involved a 40-minute wait with zero opportunity to inquire about the delay. When I finally approached the reception area and knocked forcefully, they predictably remained hidden and went silent. Their unprofessional behavior and attitudes are beyond comprehension. It's incomprehensible how a nearly empty waiting room can result in such extensive, unacceptable waiting times. An utterly DISGRACEFUL and UNACCEPTABLE healthcare facility.

Worst medical care i've ever experienced
I contacted this utterly appalling and revolting medical practice today, and I hesitate to even dignify it with the term "surgery." In my opinion, they are completely unqualified to provide healthcare. Thankfully, I rarely need to visit doctors, and after today's experience, I'm even more convinced of that. The clinic consistently advises me to dial 111 for trivial matters. Their reception is seldom accessible. When I lost my voice, they told me to call 111, so I went to the clinic. The reception was shut, forcing me to knock on the door. They habitually prescribe medications via text. I genuinely can't recall my last in-person doctor consultation. Marieanne and Emma are exceptional staff members. Even the physiotherapist was conducting appointments solely by phone, which prompted me to seek private treatment for my frozen shoulder at Nuffield. Overall, the service is subpar.

Nightmare admin staff at broken clinic
Completely fed up with this medical practice's administrative team, who are possibly the rudest staff imaginable. They show zero concern for patient needs and creating an appointment is nearly impossible. When attempting to schedule via phone, they insist on using online booking. However, the online system is problematic, and when seeking in-person assistance after work hours, no one is available. One staff member mentions a booking tablet usually on the wall has mysteriously disappeared, offering no genuine help and simply repeating that online booking is the only option. The entire operation is more chaotic than a circus performance! After struggling to book an appointment for almost four years, I finally switched to a different practice where making an appointment is straightforward - simply call, and they immediately assist you with scheduling. These current administrators are nothing more than a group of incompetent clowns 😡

Sticky eye nightmare with newborn
I contacted the clinic about my 9-day-old daughter's yellow eye discharge. They insisted I register her in person since online registration wasn't possible, promising someone would examine her eye upon arrival. When I got there, no one attended to her, and they just asked me to email a photo. After sending the image, they dismissively labeled it a "sticky eye" via message. The next day, they requested another photo because the first one apparently had her eyes obscured. I had to persistently follow up for over a month before receiving any treatment for her persistent eye issue. Whenever you encounter a medical concern, you're forced to submit a clinic request and then wait days - if they even bother to respond at all.

Receptionists ruined my medical experience
The medical practice used to be excellent, but its quality has significantly declined since the current reception staff arrived. If you can navigate past their challenging demeanor, the medical professionals—doctors, nurses, and paramedics—provide exceptional care. I'm required to undergo monthly blood tests for medication management, and the constant interrogation about the purpose, requester, and specific test type is incredibly frustrating! They could simply review my medical records instead of treating me with suspicion, as if I'm trying to manipulate the system. Fortunately, my specialist has taken over coordinating my tests, but I sympathize with other patients who must endure this exhausting process. The reception staff's approach only compounds patients' existing stress and discomfort. I sincerely hope they bring back the previous, more compassionate team members.

The front desk staff desperately require training in basic interpersonal communication... their lack of eye contact, dismissive attitude, and overall rudeness is unacceptable. I'm convinced that in another location, their professional demeanor would be significantly more polished!
