Patient feedback reveals a deeply polarised experience at this practice, with significant challenges in appointment access and reception experience contrasting sharply with consistent praise for clinical care. The most persistent concern centres on booking systems, with patients reporting difficulty reaching the practice by phone, lengthy waits for callbacks, and rapid depletion of available appointment slots. Communication barriers are frequently cited, including phone lines that remain engaged, automated systems that disconnect calls, and reception staff described as dismissive or unhelpful when contact is eventually made. These access difficulties appear particularly acute for patients seeking urgent consultations, with some reporting waits extending weeks or being redirected elsewhere.
When patients do access clinical care, the feedback becomes notably more positive. Doctors are consistently described as thorough, compassionate, and attentive listeners who provide clear explanations and demonstrate genuine concern for patient welfare. Several practitioners receive specific commendation for their clinical expertise and empathetic approach. The nursing and pharmacy teams are similarly praised for professionalism and support.
A significant disconnect exists between reception and clinical experiences. While medical professionals are frequently highlighted as excellent, reception staff interactions are commonly characterised as discourteous, bureaucratic, or obstructive. Patients report feeling like obstacles rather than people seeking help, with some describing anxiety about contacting the practice. The practice environment itself receives mixed assessments, with some noting welcoming atmospheres while others describe it as unwelcoming or inaccessible. Recent changes including new booking systems and staff recruitment appear to have improved some experiences, though appointment availability remains a widespread concern.

Bad!
Terrible customer service and endless waiting queue
Wasted nearly a quarter-hour waiting to be served, finally reaching the front of the queue only to find no one responding. Meanwhile, I could overhear staff members casually chatting and laughing, showing absolutely no concern for customer service. In frustration, I hung up, and when I called back, I was suddenly number seven in line! Looks like I'll need to attempt this again at a later time.

Terrible customer service wastes my precious time
Wasted half an hour waiting on hold, only to be met with complete dismissal and no assistance whatsoever. Then, upon calling again, I was greeted with yet another frustrating wait, finding myself in 9th position in the queue. Absolutely appalling customer service!

Dangerous healthcare with rude and negligent staff
Utterly appalling. I seldom seek medical attention, but when antibiotics became necessary, the experience was nightmarish. Getting through to the practice is an exercise in futility, and the receptionist's attitude is nothing short of contemptuous. Before even understanding your medical concern, you're dismissed with a curt "absolutely not," made to feel like a nuisance for daring to request a consultation. A grave medical error nearly cost my partner his life when a GP misdiagnosed a stroke as mere eye inflammation and prescribed potentially fatal medication. Steer clear of this practice at all costs. The receptionists seem to operate under the delusion that they are medical professionals, dispensing dangerous advice far beyond their professional boundaries. This establishment urgently requires a comprehensive investigation into its medical practices and staff conduct.

Dangerous healthcare with incompetent staff and poor service
Steer clear of this facility if you care about your well-being. The careless management of critical data across departments is infuriating beyond words. My frustration with Oakwood knows no bounds. There's one marginally competent physician, but they're ineffective amidst a sea of utterly incompetent staff. This place is a complete disaster.

Disappointing service with zero communication skills
Utterly failed to meet my hopes - and not in a positive sense. I'm certain the staff are pleasant and diligent, yet completely inaccessible. I strongly advise against engaging with this organization.

Frustrating healthcare with terrible booking system
Scheduling appointments here is a nightmare. Their online consultation platform is equally terrible. I attempted to use it and was repeatedly blocked for 4 days, being told to retry on a specific date. When I did, I received the same unhelpful response. Phone attempts have been equally futile, with no chance of getting through. These issues are not isolated incidents; I've encountered similar frustrations multiple times. The reception staff are consistently discourteous and obstructive, making it genuinely surprising when they occasionally show basic professionalism. I've exhausted my tolerance and am now compelled to find an alternative medical practice, hoping for a more competent service. It's truly disappointing because the actual doctors, when you manage to see them, are outstanding.

Frustrating healthcare experience with poor communication
Regrettably, I find myself concurring with the majority of feedback shared here. I won't criticize the reception staff, as they likely work diligently and I wouldn't want their job. However, the process is deeply flawed. You're expected to wait 10 days for a phone consultation, and if you happen to miss that single call while commuting or working, that's apparently the end of it. They provide no estimated timeframe for the call, making it impossible to plan accordingly. Should you miss the call and attempt to follow up with reception, you'll likely be met with the dismissive response that the doctors are too busy to reconnect. How is such a system considered acceptable in a contemporary, supposedly patient-focused healthcare environment? One has to wonder if anyone from the NHS standards oversight committee actually reviews these persistent complaints.

Terrible service endangering patient's health and wellbeing
This medical practice is absolutely the most terrible one I've encountered. They consistently refuse to prescribe the medication I require, leaving me to battle through everyday challenges and basic activities with immense difficulty.

Appalling healthcare service destroys patient trust
Absolutely abysmal healthcare service. My mother, recently returned from overseas, was inexplicably denied her routine asthma medication (Symbicort), which is typically readily available in the UK. Multiple pharmacists were equally baffled by this inexplicable refusal, suggesting it might be a cynical cost-cutting measure. When she was running critically low on her essential medicine, a cold, unhelpful staff member emerged from behind the counter with all the compassion of a concrete block, informing her that no one would assist her for almost a week due to staff absence. This callous treatment deeply distressed my mother, ultimately compelling us to transfer her medical care elsewhere. This clinic is a prime example of healthcare professionals who are monumentally unsuited to their roles - steer clear of this heartless establishment at all costs.

Terrible service with unhelpful and unresponsive staff
Extremely subpar service quality. It took a staggering 10 days from online booking to receive a phone contact. Missing their call means you must restart the entire process from scratch. The front desk staff demonstrates an unprofessional attitude, being discourteous and uncooperative, and consistently avoiding incoming phone calls.

Worst medical practice ever terrible customer service
The reception staff at this clinic are incredibly discourteous and dismissive, and the doctors demonstrate a complete lack of empathy and care. Having been a patient here throughout my entire life before leaving for university, I consistently encountered deeply unpleasant interactions that genuinely heightened my anxiety about seeking medical assistance. The overall standard of service is thoroughly subpar.

Frustrating healthcare experience with poor communication
The medical practice's appointment system is a complete mess. You're forced to complete an online form, then miss the doctor's call due to being at work in a loud setting. When you finally attempt to reconnect, the receptionist dismissively suggests the doctor likely won't call back because of the missed initial contact. There's more happening beyond COVID, and they desperately need to improve their approach. They should allow patients to see a GP in person without subjecting them to an interrogation of endless questions!

Amazing healthcare team that truly cares
I've been a patient at this medical practice for as long as I can remember. Their level of care is truly outstanding. The general practitioners are consistently compassionate and thoughtful, demonstrating genuine concern for their patients. The entire staff is remarkably helpful and professional. They consistently go above and beyond, making sure no request is too difficult or inconvenient. I am incredibly grateful for their dedication and support.

Compassionate doctor who truly listens and cares
Dr Singleton stands out as an exceptional physician among the staff, demonstrating clear expertise and a willingness to refer patients when needed. His communication style is empathetic, with direct eye contact that conveys genuine listening and care. The other physicians are well-intentioned but often seem constrained by time pressures, leading to cursory examinations and a tendency to rely on medication. This appears symptomatic of broader NHS challenges, where doctors feel restricted in providing comprehensive care. The result can be superficial consultations that fail to address underlying issues, as we experienced firsthand, ultimately forcing us to seek expensive private treatment. The reception area acts as a protective barrier, yet often comes across as overly bureaucratic and abrupt. Securing appointments is challenging, with the vague "emergency" criterion creating additional frustration. The ambiguity around what constitutes an urgent medical need frequently results in patients being unable to access timely care. While the system has its merits, the overall experience tends to leave patients more discouraged than satisfied. This may reflect wider systemic issues within healthcare rather than specific shortcomings of this particular practice. Regrettably.

Terrible service with unacceptable wait times
Scheduling a consultation two weeks out is completely useless. I only seek medical attention when I'm experiencing an urgent health issue. This is absolutely ridiculous.!!!!!!!!

Great healthcare with caring doctors and staff
I've been a patient at Oakwood for a decade and a half, and they've consistently provided excellent service. The staff has always been welcoming and the physicians top-notch. Dr. Singleton is truly exceptional, and the newest addition to their team, Dr. Sadia, is equally impressive. I highly suggest scheduling an appointment with her as well.

Terrible service with confusing and unhelpful staff
I signed up as a temporary patient to get a prescription and immediately ran into roadblocks. They initially claimed I couldn't obtain my prescription and suggested traveling to my distant university GP, which is a 5-hour journey away. They then stated they couldn't process my prescription due to my temporary patient status and lack of records, despite having the ability to contact my GP easily. I was instructed to personally request my medical summary be sent to Oakwood - a task I assumed they would handle. When I contacted my GP, they confirmed Oakwood was being unreasonable and should have managed this process themselves. After an hour, Oakwood called saying they'd contacted my GP and would need a few days to resolve the prescription. The staff member was incredibly unhelpful, rudely suggesting I was responsible for the delay and demanding I resolve everything independently. My advice: steer clear of Oakwood and be prepared for their confusing and inconsistent communication.

Nightmare customer service with impossible phone system
Absolutely dreadful. Attempting to secure an urgent consultation leads to a frustrating phone system that's completely automated. The lines bounce you around in circles and ultimately disconnect, which I've experienced firsthand after multiple attempts. This is precisely the opposite of what you want when seeking critical medical help. I am completely unable to make contact with anyone.
