Kim's unbelievable customer service fail

Abysmal Service and Discourteous Receptionist My interaction with the receptionist (Kim) at this medical practice today was nothing short of disastrous. I attempted to schedule an urgent appointment and endured a 30-minute hold period. Upon finally connecting, I tried sharing my medical concerns, but she abruptly terminated the call without booking anything. Exasperated, I redialed, only to discover I was 10th in the queue! Given my time constraints, I decided to visit the clinic personally to address the situation directly. During our face-to-face encounter, instead of explaining her previous call termination, she completely disregarded me and answered another call without acknowledging my presence. I waited patiently for her to finish, yet she made no effort to apologize. When I inquired why she hadn't booked my appointment, her response was shockingly cavalier: "I knew you'd call back, so I didn't make the appointment." Her attitude was blatantly disrespectful and thoroughly unprofessional! The receptionist demonstrated an appalling level of rudeness, indifference, and total unhelpfulness. Such a profound absence of basic professional courtesy in patient interactions is absolutely unacceptable.

Waited over an hour and got nowhere

After being a patient at this GP practice for more than a decade and a half, I've rarely needed their services, which have consistently proven to be entirely ineffective. The quality of care remains unchanged over the years. The catalyst for this review is the fact that I was forced to wait over an hour and was ultimately not even seen by a healthcare professional. As a result, I've decided to transfer my medical registration to another general practice in hopes of receiving the healthcare attention I require. I am confident that no other medical practice could possibly provide a more disappointing experience than this current GP.

Phone lines from hell

The clinic's phone lines are perpetually congested, which is absolutely infuriating. They consistently fail to answer calls, and the line is perpetually engaged. Even when attempting to schedule an appointment through online services, patient access absurdly claims I've exhausted my booking opportunities at my GP. How can this be? I seldom utilize GP services, yet I'm unable to book via phone due to their unresponsiveness, and patient access simultaneously prevents online booking. It's utterly incomprehensible how individuals are supposed to access essential healthcare services in this country. The entire system is a complete shambles.

Impossible to get a doctor's appointment

Giving this a single star is the only reason I'm writing this review. As a London native who has lived in various city neighborhoods, I can confidently state this is the most incompetent GP practice I've ever experienced. For two years, securing a morning appointment by phone has been impossible. With four young children, we've repeatedly been forced to resort to Urgent Care or A&E. Ironically, medical staff continually remind us that our GP should be the first point of contact - but how is that feasible when appointments are unattainable? Their online portal claims to respond within 48 hours, but when I submitted a detailed form describing my symptoms and expressing serious health concerns, they offered a consultation three weeks later - with absolutely no interim medical guidance. I ultimately required an emergency life-saving operation just two days after their dismissive response. Adding insult to injury, I had to personally follow up three times over six months just to ensure a simple referral was processed. Anyone considering this practice should steer clear - they are dangerously ineffective and potentially life-threatening!

I visited today at 9:20, and the receptionist, Brittanie, is absolutely wonderful. She's such a delightful person, and for the first time, I felt a genuine connection with someone at the front desk. Usually, I leave without understanding much due to my limited English skills, but she was different. She went out of her way to ensure I comprehended everything she explained about my appointments, medical prescriptions, and test results. Today, I had my cervical screening with the incredible nurse Marina! She was absolutely fantastic and made the entire experience comfortable. To all women aged 25 and over, I want to emphasize: don't be scared of getting a smear test just because you've heard it might hurt - in my case, it was completely painless. This test is crucial for detecting cervical cancer and other HPV-related cell abnormalities. Additionally, nurse Marina shared valuable advice about breast self-examination - she recommended checking your breasts on the 14th day after your period starts, highlighting how quickly tumors can develop, sometimes in just a week. Her clear explanation was so informative. I'm truly grateful for her care and dedication to keeping women like me healthy and safe!

No appointments left again

I've had the absolute worst experience with this medical centre in the UK. Every single time I attempt to book an appointment, they claim to have no availability. This morning at 8am, I witnessed the receptionist booking just three people and then declaring no further appointments for the day. The council advised me to urgently secure a GP appointment due to my health issues. Despite being registered here for over five years, I've barely managed to get a handful of appointments, which consistently results in me ending up in hospital because they refuse to schedule patients. Additionally, I have a message for the receptionist at OAKWOOD MEDICAL CENTER: if you dislike your job, please find another one. Stop inflicting your negative attitude on patients seeking help. When I disclosed my suicidal thoughts and requested assistance, being told "that's not my problem" is unacceptable. You're fortunate I'm an adult, but if a vulnerable teenager received such a dismissive response, the consequences could be devastating. Just imagine the horror of your own child harming themselves because a medical professional showed complete indifference and refused to help in their moment of crisis.

I'm perplexed by the critical feedback online because our visit was absolutely seamless. We reached out around 5:30 in the evening about our daughter's worrying skin condition, and they promptly advised us to come right away. The front desk staff was cordial and streamlined. Upon arrival, we were ushered in within moments, and the physician was equally warm, kind, and thoroughly competent. Having the pharmacy on-site was a tremendous advantage — we were back home, feeling relieved, with our prescription in hand, all within a remarkably short 20-minute window. The entire experience was essentially flawless, and we couldn't have been more satisfied.

Lovely practice

Oakwood Medical Centre is excellent! The doctors are really helpful, attentive, and caring. I always feel well taken care of there. Highly recommend! I needed to visit twice this week. Ifirst saw Dr Nagulesan and Dr Gupta who both took alot of time and care to ensure my problem was resolved. All the team is very friendly and welcoming. haven't dealt with doctors staff or receptionists who haven't helped me.

Oakwood Medical Centre is outstanding! The physicians are incredibly supportive, attentive, and compassionate. I consistently feel thoroughly cared for during my visits. Strongly recommended! I required medical attention twice this week. Initially, I consulted Dr Nagulesan and Dr Gupta, who both dedicated considerable time and attention to addressing my medical concerns comprehensively. The entire staff is warm and hospitable. I have yet to encounter any medical professionals or administrative staff who were unhelpful. I believe the extremely critical reviews are completely unwarranted.

Trusted doctors since the early eighties

I'm truly fond of this medical practice. My connection with them dates back to its original establishment, and even earlier when Dr. Mukhapadyah was located on Prince George Avenue in the early 1980s, during a time when patient lists were divided between two doctors. Throughout the years, I've consistently experienced exceptional support and compassion from the General Practitioners, Reception staff, Clinical Pharmacist, Nursing team, and Administrative personnel - including those who have since moved on.

I wouldn't recommend this healthcare facility at all. When attempting to schedule an urgent consultation, I've spent over 20 minutes repeatedly dialing, only to finally reach someone, be first in the queue, and then have some unhelpful staff member abruptly disconnect the call. This isn't an isolated incident—it's happened multiple times. I'm seriously considering switching to a different medical practice.
